    "Toasted Cheddar Chalupa"
    LaToya R.

Welp I guess I shouldn't have had any expectations for this food but this is awful. They were out of chicken at 4:45pm (truck had just arrived) no biggie I ordered beef items instead. I asked for no tomatoes on everything and I guess that's how you get guarantee tomatoes because EVERYTHING HAD TOMATOES ON IT! My toasted chalupa was burnt, the soft tacos were soggy and the "5 layer" burrito was awful. I didn't have time to go back over there so there goes $20. I'll stick to the one on Jonesboro rd I'm never going to this one again!!!

All of the lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese just thrown in the bag.

These people do not want to work at night. Hire a whole new staff. They pretend they're closed far before the scheduled time.

If you're looking for Mexican food that actually tastes fresh, authentic, and made with care,…read moreTaqueria Don Chon is definitely worth checking out. One of the biggest standouts for me is their weekday lunch buffet. It's a great way to sample different dishes without having to choose just one thing, and the food tastes like it's being prepared fresh rather than sitting around just to fill a buffet line. And you HAVE to try the agua frescas, especially the Jamaica. That hibiscus flavor is bold, refreshing, and has that homemade quality that makes you immediately notice the difference between a real agua fresca and something poured out of a bottle. The salsas and tomatillo sauce are another highlight. They have that fresh, roasted, authentic flavor with the right balance of heat and acidity. Nothing tastes overly processed or watered down. You can actually taste the ingredients. And then there are the chimichangas. Crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and satisfying without feeling like they're just throwing a bunch of ingredients together and calling it Mexican food. Overall, what stood out to me most was the freshness and authenticity. Taqueria Don Chon feels like the kind of place where the food is the main attraction. If you're in the mood for real Mexican flavors, definitely give them a try, and don't leave without trying the Jamaica. Mucho Fuego!

But…read moredon't let the lack of bells and whistles scare you off because they have some of the best tacos in Atlanta! We tried the Al pastor, asada, carnitas, and camaron (shrimp) tacos. The crispy meat of the Al pastor was our favorite, but everything has great flavor! The tortillas seemed handmade and were the star of the show to make the tacos really stand out compared to other spots. They have a small fridge of sodas with a limited selection but solid options like a few different flavors of Jarritos. Service was super fast and friendly. They serve free chips and 4 types of salsa with your food too. The green crema was our favorite of those. I would recommend backing into the parking spaces because the pull out into traffic can be a little treacherous!

Real Tacos was genuinely one of the things that made Halloween 2026 feel so special for me. Their…read moreHalloween pop-up was easily one of the most extravagant, creative, and immersive setups I've ever seen. It didn't feel like they had simply added a few decorations for the season; they completely committed to creating an experience. Everywhere you looked, there was another detail that made the atmosphere feel playful, spooky, over-the-top, and incredibly fun. You could tell how much imagination and effort went into transforming the space, and it created the kind of Halloween energy that makes you want to stay for hours and take everything in. What I loved most was how nostalgic it made me feel. Somewhere between the decorations, the energy, the food, and being surrounded by people enjoying themselves, I remembered exactly why I've always loved Halloween so much in the first place. There's something magical about having one time of year when everyone gets permission to be theatrical, imaginative, a little weird, and completely playful.

I had the chicken and beef birria tacos with consommé, cilantro rice, and black beans. My partner went with the steak and al pastor tacos, Mexican rice, and refried beans. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned, they definitely don't skimp on the fillings. The margarita flight was also a fun choice and a great way to try different flavors. We noticed they also serve huge shareable cocktails and oversized shots that looked like a blast for groups. The atmosphere is lively, especially later in the evening, with a younger crowd and a fun, energetic vibe that makes it a great spot to hang out with friends. The only thing that rubbed us the wrong way happened right after we were seated. Chips and queso were brought to the table, and we naturally assumed they were complimentary, similar to chips or bread at many other restaurants. After we had already started eating them, our server came back and took them away because they weren't included. Our waitress was otherwise friendly and provided good service, but that initial interaction felt a little awkward. A quick heads-up when placing them on the table would have avoided the confusion entirely. Overall, the food, drinks, portions, and atmosphere were excellent, and that small misunderstanding wasn't enough to take away from an otherwise fantastic experience. We'd definitely come back the next time we're craving tacos and margaritas.

I didn't notice chicken (Pollo) as a protein option, but I was able to order 3 Pollo Tacos. One of the Pollo tacos I ordered with queso fresco and avocado to see how it would be. They indicated that their menu was not updated and that chicken was available as a protein option. The tacos were generous with meat. Every bite had a mouthful of meat, and it seemed as if there was an added sauce when they cooked it or some sort of marinade. These were topped with cilantro and onion, and had lime/salsa verde provided. The salsa verde had a good amount of spice to it. It was a good meal on a cold night. The avocado + queso fresco taco was nice, but in terms of price, it was not worth the extra $1. I would still recommend giving it a try if you can! One thing I didn't realize when I was given the takeout bag is that I wasn't provided napkins and that I should have grabbed them from the truck.

For customer service I think they were excellent. I did ask to leave some thing off and they were really attentive at checking to make sure what needed to be left off. The horchata here is some of the best I've had in Houston. Also going back to me making changes to a menu item. I asked to them to hold the sour cream off the corn and I was just expecting regular corn but they gave me some amazing corn. The quesadilla was really good but I was already so blow away by the corn and horchata I don't know if the quesadilla could have live up. Overall this was a great taco truck. Quick turn around and amazing food. I definitely recommend and I am definitely going back.
