Wanted to give it some time after all the hype and love that Keith gave. Loved everything Keith did for the struggling restaurant and family and glad to see its still open and operating. But I was seriously disappointed with the food. The good: as you enter, the place smells really good. It's cute and vibrant. The son was there and brought us chips and salsa after we ordered. The chips came out warm and their salsa was good but better after they brought out the spicier one. You order at the counter and seat yourself. The menu has a lot of options. The not so good: the food had absolutely zero flavor. The birrias were super bland and the beef was mushy. The dipping sauce had a cinnamon taste to it but had zero flavor. They were out of carnitas and el pastor so my boyfriend settled for steak and beef tongue tacos. I just realized I had cow tongue thinking it was beef. I was expecting flavor and it was bland too. The best thing was the warm chips and salsa unfortunately. I am really hoping they improve the flavors and the service. Unless you know the restaurant is there you probably would not think to stop. When we walked in we were greeted by the amicable staff. The restaurant was quaint and cozy. We both ordered shrimp Tacos to go and added a order of guacamole. Our wait was longer than expected, they seemed to have several to go orders in front of ours. When you make meals from scratch it takes time so we did not mind the wait. We both enjoyed our tacos they were very good. Everything was fresh and had authentic Mexican flavors.
