Had to order at a kiosk, even with our order clearly entered it was all screwed up, tasted terrible, and took forever.

Los Pinos - Water with chips, oops, I mean "salsa"

I ordered enchiladas with red sauce, rice and beans. They use ground beef in their enchiladas and I despise that. So I asked them If they could use birria meat instead and just charge me accordingly. They obliged. When I received my food I felt like it was a joke. Like my 10 year old went in the kitchen and tried to cook me enchiladas, and that was her masterpiece. Actually no it was actually created from the cooks at this place. The place looks like a dump from the outside but inside is quite nice. It was really pretty and the music was just right. The guy who took my order didnt speak English so I talked to him in Spanish but if you don't speak Spanish the guy running the register speaks great English. Speaking of this guy! When I tried to swap the plate of enchiladas, sorry let me rephrase that. When I tried to swap the birria wrapped in corn tortillas with salsa (the exact same salsa they serve the chips with before the meal) poured on top. It was insulting. The server then told me I had to pay for the enchiladas even though I was ordering tacos. I said no way. He gave me the check and sent me to the English speaking manager at the front. The manager said somebody is going to have to pay for it. I told him he is ridiculous. I'll pay for my drinks and I'll go eat somewhere else. He kept asking me whois going to pay for it. That if I think it's fair that the server has to pay for it. Did this guy think I was stupid? Did he really think i was going to pay for something of THAT QUALITY? Did he really think I thought he was going to pay for it? I asked for the owners name and contact info and he did not want to give it to me. I said im calling the police. He then said "OK, I'll go ahead and pay the money for the food for you!. I said if that's what you want. Fine. Paid him his drink money, tipped the server and will NEVER come back to this place. I highly advise you to go to the taco bell right in front. This place, Los Pinos is absolute trash. The manager, the quality of food... all of it.

The place had just opened (5:00) so the help outnumbered the guests. Did I say the service was excellent too? Finished it off with a great tasting flan. That was the true test of the place (imho). Forest City was fast approaching, so we pulled up Google and discovered Iguanas Mexican restaurant. I guess that it was appropriate that we chose Mexican food for our dinner fare. After seeing the corona of the sun, it's only fitting that a Corona beer be ordered. But I didn't. I ordered a Dos XX instead. Corona is Mexican Budwieser. We were seated immediately and presented with menus displaying food choices printed top to bottom. And I mean top to bottom! Bring your glasses for there's so many selections from which to choose crammed onto that laminated card stock. My eye managed to ferret out a promising entree. The Burrito Grande. Steak, onions, peppers, beans, cheese, served with guacamole and sour cream on the side. Rice also came with it. When it arrived at our table, I was a little underwhelmed as to its size. Grande, it was not. Maybe it was Grande to the person who served it to me, for he was small in stature. But to a tall, strapping young senior citizen, it fell short of being grandiose in size. However, in taste, it was. So I'll give them a pass on the description. It was deliciously tasty. The grandkids had tacos and scrumptious looking enchiladas. Those left mere rings on the plates after they were done. I think that they enjoyed theirs as much as I did mine. Don't be dissuaded by its location. Iguanas is in a very nondescript strip mall. It's more deserving of a building of its own. But who am I to guess. I have no idea what rental rates are in the hamlet of Forrest City. For all I know, it may be prime real estate for the region. Go there and enjoy. They even have a small store inside where one can find an array of all things south of the border. Quick Tip: When searching for the restaurant across the vastness of the strip mall parking lot, look low for their sign. At the time of this reviews writing the sign over the restaurant looked like it was lost in a windstorm. No worry, though. The food will blow you away.

So much that I usually make little happy dances and pleasure sounds while eating. I don't even care who sees me either. There is more soul in this little gas station restaurant than anywhere within twenty miles. This is Soul Food at its best. You may ask how I can call Mexican food, Soul Food...? Here is my take... Soul Food, to me, is much more than a "type of food". Don't get me crooked, I am all about some OxTail's, Smothered Pork Chops, Chicken & Dressing, Turkey Necks, Greens, Cornbread, etc. etc. etc. It's about food made with love, by people who love to make food, with techniques and seasonings handed down through generations of good people. That is what you get here! Every time I eat here I am filled with the love of the folks in the kitchen as well as their ancestors. It's a small family business, and Tony is one of the greatest people you will ever meet. He is so happy to be in his little section of this gas station slinging this heavenly food. I drive 40 minutes each way from work to eat here and as soon as I leave I cannot wait to get back. It's that damn good! Everything is great, but you have to try the Carnitas! Life changing flavor! Seriously! '24 - 6/100
