First of all apologies that I have no photos to show. I have a bad habit of not charging my phone when I got to stay with my boyfriend (who lives in Essex) so, as usual, it was out of battery. Shame.
I'm so psyched to finally be able to say I've eaten at Taco Bell! I used to watch a lot of American TV shows as a kid and often recall Taco Bell being mentioned on Sister Sister and whatnot. Because of this I have always been curious! Add to that the fact I've recently developed quite a taste for fajitas et al (I blame the fact they seem to be trending in the UK right now) and you had a very excited Helen on Sunday (which is the day we went there)!
I wanted to try pretty much everything so my boyfriend very awesomely bought me a Big Bell Box. Essex people snigger at this name (in Essex lingo the word bellend is used as a perjorative. Random I know!) but a Bell Box is an awesome thing. It contained a small taco, a smallish burrito, fries (although you could opt for nachos instead), 2 churros, a drink, plus salsa, sour cream and chocolate sauce for the churros. I wish I'd asked for more salsa in hindsight as I do like my fajitas and tacos spicy, but I enjoyed my meal all the same. It was just the right amount to fill me up!
The highpoint was probably the churros. Aaron R, who was with us, likened them to seafront donuts, and I totally get what he meant. Their texture was amazing too! To give those of you who, like pre-Sunday me, have never been to the states really want to try Taco Bell but have never been ; the closest we have to it in the UK that is available nationwide is the food served in KFC. Not too much of a surprise given they are both owned by the same company (Yum! Brands). I've even seen some of the products they sell in KFC, such as the Crunchwrap Supreme, albeit they are known by different names there and use slightly different ingredients.
I cannot wait to visit Taco Bell again. I've already decided what I'm getting ; the Volcano Burrito! read more
