Could not be happier with Yvette's phenomenal work on reviving my hair. Went to see her two weeks ago, originally just wanting a trim because I am hesitant to ever do anything drastic (I know, I'm that silly scaredy cat). Went to Lisa for the first time after a disappointing color experience at another salon. The location is really cute and clean! I was her only client during the appointment, and had all her attention. She was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to! After discussing my goals, she gave me some realistic expectations about what we could achieve and got started. She was super fast, and obviously experienced and talented! I went to see Yvette during my business trip and she is the only studio open on a Sunday which is amazing because most salons are closed on Sunday. I asked for an Up do and showed her picture and she nail it perfectly and I was beyond impressed. Yvette knows her stuff very well and I felt very comfortable. Her price is also very good as well and she gives you her undivided attention where you don't have to deal with foot traffic or phone constantly ringing or people interrupting her. This place is tricky to find- it's off Broadway on the second floor of the shopping complex in a treehouse like location. But it's well worth it! For about 5 years I had a regular stylist that I would go to and she was great. Then she moved. I hate trying different salons so I stopped going to get my hair done as often and just salon-hopped around just for hair trims. I've had a hard time leaving this review, but after realizing I selected going here from yelp reviews decided it was best to share. After spending 30 minutes waiting outside, 3.5 hours there for color and a cut, I went home with styled hair that looked good. I should of realized that Lisa's lack of attention to the cut and shaky hands on the bang trim weren't right. The next day I washed and straightened my hair. I had random long pieces that just weren't cut. The front wasn't even on both sides and my bangs were butchered. Along with that the color wasn't flattering and the accent pieces washed out in one day. Run and go elsewhere, don't spend so much money and time on something that will cause you to need corrective services. read more

You know when you find "your salon" and are super hype about it, only to return and be saddened? This has happened to me at three SATX salons, but I'm going ahead and writing a full five stars for Yvette and Studio Fifteen. Here's why: 1) Ease of Scheduling: Any salon that has Yelp-based scheduling is better for my busy lifestyle than one where I have to make a call. 2) Location: Tucked away along Avenue B between Brackenridge Park and my favorite Yoga studio, AC Power Yoga, this is walkable (according to this ex-New Yorker) from Incarnate Word, Central Market, the Pearl, and Broadway restaurants. There's tons of parking and cool small businesses to visit before and after your hairdo excursion is over. 3) Ambience: The decor in this open loft studio is like a cool apartment. The seating is super comfortable, the light makes it very uplifting, and the reading material is offbeat and interesting. The elevated salon chairs provide a view into beautiful old trees. It's also a quiet salon. There are three chairs, so none of the chaos of big chain salons is there. 4) Styling: Based on reviews I read prior to my visit, I walked in and just said to "keep it long." Yvette did the rest, so it was a perfect cut. She really took her time and care. 5) Service: Originally, I was frustrated when I called and there phone wasn't answered, but when I arrived, I appreciated how the stylists don't leave their clientele to play receptionist. I appreciated having a great conversation with Yvette about Yelp, being introverts, relationships, and books. Although I usually prefer reading a book or magazine the first few visits with a stylist, I left mine in my purse to talk with her. She gave me great advice about taking care of my hair without shoving her products down my throat and taught me a new way to style my hair. Oh my goodness. Where to begin: I have had a hard time finding a stylist since I moved away from Chicago. Eventually after bouncing from place to place my hair was destroyed and so bad it looked like the ends were fried in an electrical socket. So I have patiently waited a year and a half for my natural hair to grow back. I decided Studio fifteen would be where I take the hair plunge and I am so glad I did. Yvette was honest up front about how I needed more than one session to achieve the look I wanted to protect the integrity of my hair. The first session we did heavy highlights and the second session we did balayage. My hair looks amazing and still feels amazing. Yvette has been doing hair for over two decades so she knows what she is doing and she is super adorable and does an amazing balayage. Cannot thank her enough. This place is great, lots of windows and natural lighting, loft type feel with eclectic vibe . Very chill and calming atmosphere. Showed Yvette some pics of the color I was looking for and it came out perfect. She nailed my haircut, was better than I even thought it could be. My hair feels healthy with a modern cut and my color is rich. I liked all the products used, sulfate and paraben free, no animal testing. She gave me an intense conditioning treatment that was amazing and also took the time to curl my long hair afterword. The whole experience was very relaxing with great music and the time flew by.
