I got the 1/2lb pulled pork plate and my wife got chicken. I was pretty shocked at the portion size of the pulled pork when it came out and thought how did this place get so many good reviews. You will see in my picture how tiny the meat cup was. It turns out the meat was packed in very tight and was way more than it appears. I mentioned this to one of the owners that maybe the presentation could be better so people don't immediately think they got nothing and he didn't seem concerned about the appearance because they weigh every portion. Hulbert, a small, Dollar General town, that proudly proclaims (on a roadside sign) to be the home town of Ryan Dirteater, a famous Professional Bull Rider. Hulbert is the kind of town where you would expect to find a friendly little cafe, that serves big delicious plates of country style fixins. This is true! The Farmhouse Café! It's morning so logically we are having breakfast, but in case you are late, the menu confirms that breakfast is served all day. My usual (check the pictures) cooked almost to perfection. The eggs weren't sunny side, but close enough, no points taken off. They weren't over cooked. A couple of big flapjacks with bacon for my wife and two cups of coffee. A great meal! Amazing low prices for breakfast. Very friendly service. Inside, you will find a cozy country décor. A couple of steel cart wheels, a couple of antique balance beam cotton scales, and some horse paraphernalia, decorate the pine wood walls. It's a small town so everyone seemed to know each other. I came in behind a group of about 6-7 people; we were the only other ones there. The espresso machine was down, which sucked because I was really wanting some good coffee. I ordered a bison burger and Indian taco sliders. When asked if it was for here or to go, I let them know I was eating here. As I waited for my food, I watched everyone's food at the table next to me come out on plates and in bowls. Then, a staff member checked in on them to make sure everything was tasting alright and their orders were correct. When they brought my food out, it was in to-go boxes, and the mayonnaise and mustard I was told would be on the side were not, so I had to go ask for some. When I tried a bit of the meat on the Indian taco sliders, it was cold--not warm, but as if it was right out of the fridge. Nobody ever asked how my food was or checked in to see if my order was right. I asked if the meat on the tacos was supposed to be cold, and he said no, he would make me new ones.
