Visited three times as I'm new to the area and searching for a new church. Would not return, found…read morethe services dull and uninspiring, especially the music needs improvement. People not friendly to new visitors, barely a nod in my direction. One encounter with staff, Michelle, didn't care for her seemingly lack of interest in what I was saying, just don't get any warm, compassionate, Christian attitude from this place. Moving on.

"Bethany North" is a satellite church of Bethany Community Church near Greenlake in Seattle. Like…read moremany other mega churches, Bethany has decided to branch out in other neighborhoods. So far they've added a satellite in West Seattle, and this one, in Shoreline, at the Spartan Center. Bethany North has its own pastor, but it mostly broadcasts sermons/messages from the Senior Pastor, Richard Dahlstrom, from the main (Green Lake) campus. Occasionally the on-site campus pastor will speak, or one of the other pastors from the Green Lake campus. Having some of the same sermons from the main church is about the extent of the similarity. The Green Lake campus is really big, with multiple services, lots of college kids, and you can often get lost in the crowd. Whereas Bethany North (Shoreline) is much more intimate and there's just one Sunday morning service. There are a couple hundred people who attend, which really allows you to get to meet other people. That's a huge emphasis of this particular church - they really want there to be a sense of community among its attendees - and I think they've nailed that. There are a TON of little kids - so a lot of families from the area. But I think singles and empty nesters will like it too. Everyone is really welcoming and friendly. It's very casual in nature (Seattle style :)) so I don't feel like I have to get super dressed up to go, or sport the latest tat to fit in with the crowd. The music is contemporary but not a heavy emphasis on super loud music, screechy guitars, or drums. Plus - they have muffins! And great coffee! And most importantly, they care that you're there and make an effort to get to know you.

Shoreline Full Gospel Fellowship - We are blessed to be a blessing

We first became aware of Shoreline Full Gospel Fellowship after hearing about their healing…read moreservices which occur in the evening on the first Sunday each month. Cautious, we viewed Pastor Tom Loud's videos on YouTube as he and others from the church go around the community sharing prayers with passersby in the most amazing way you can imagine. Don't let the term "Pentecostal" or "healing" shade any preconceptions you may have about those labels. If you are looking for a place where the Bible is shared accurately and with balance. This is it. Tom and staff here are very serious about carefully and accurately studying God's Word. This church's approach to walking in faith is humble and friendly, without the trappings you may identify with a church that believes the Lord loves us all, no matter what, and wishes us all health and happiness. My wife went up for prayer as she was experiencing many pains in her joints. A church member prayed for her and she immediately felt God's love heal her! As a great surprise, my older daughter suddenly chose to go up and be prayed for. In the car, on the way home, she explained to us that she had ACCEPTED JESUS as her Lord and Saviour! I feel the reason this church grows on you so much is that there is no pretention, no religiosity and a whole lot of love. We came from a large "mega church" where one can hide, not really ever plugging in or having closer relationships with church members and visitors. In a small, community church like this one, they make it very easy to fit in, be un-judged and just accepted for who you are. It's easy to make friends here.

I have suffered from intense anxiety for my entire life. I believe I was born with it. In 1992 I became bipolar. A great combination, let me tell you. The bipolar made for not wanting to do anything, having poor judgment, being depressed, lazy, being "out of whack" ( if that is how you spell it!). I had seen the sign telling of the healing ceremony every first Sunday of each month. I had always thought to go and finally did on July 7th, 2019. The results were unbelievably wonderful! First, they played music, then pairs of people were situated up front who would share their "gifts" with the people who wanted to go up to be with them. I had a couple with whom I told of my life long anxiety, bipolar and also of my glaucoma. Like I said the next couple of days and beyond I was going to bed at 9pm, and getting up at 4am, going for four mile fast walks, being able to be relaxed and greet the day, no fretting, no laying around feeling depressed at all. I am so excited about everything that I am finding it hard to believe it could have happened. And, I'm not even a Christian!! I never before was able to relax. Before this, I had been staying up late, watching movies, sometimes until 4am or later, feeding my face with sugar, and waking up in mid-afternoon sometimes. And regarding my glaucoma, I will have two more opportunities to go for this church's healing service before I see my doctor in September. Maybe it is healed already!

The previous pastor, Wayne Taylor, retired, and his son is now preaching. Pastor Riley's preaching is challenging, insightful, thoughtful, fun and straight from the Bible and the text around it,. If you want solid, Bibical teaching - give it a try. I've attended 4 calvarys in the past 40 years and I always appreciate good, sound Bible teaching. Pastor Riley explains how scripture applies to our lives and to stand tall amid our ever-changing culture. It's a church that is not too big nor too small - and focuses on community. Although there is not a Wednesday Night anymore, there are groups all throughout the week you can be a part of. There is child care and youth groups and something for young adults. The worship is great as well - not too loud and showy - just right to worship with. Come as you are and I'm sure you'll like it.
