I went a couple times and I disliked it every time. I felt as if everything was inauthentic and that they were more focused on glorifying themselves than God. It also leans heavily into politics and feels more like a political organization than a place of worship. It's okay to have political beliefs as a church but none of them are qualified to be making these statements and come across misinformed and like propaganda. On top of that, I've tried multiple times to unsubscribe from their email and texting list and yet I still receive emails and texts from them- including ones about who I should vote for in elections. Overall, I would not recommend this church if you're looking for a genuine, transparent, christ-centered community. read more

The people are real and the sermons are applicable.. the music is amazing.. a good mix of new and old.. real gospel style choir which I love... its a big church which can be intimidating, but join a class or a group and it will feel like home.. they also have services on YouTube so you can have your service at home if you need to due to Covid ... This review is based on a service the church is providing to residents where I live, not their religious services. The property management company of the complex where I live really stinks when it comes to maintaining the grounds. As such, they have made an agreement with Westgate Chapel that anytime any of us are trapped in the street in the winter due to ice and snow and can't drive into our own driveways and garages, we are allowed to park our vehicles at the church. They made the same deal when they repaved the parking lot and we had to wait 24 hours before being able to drive home. read more

Westgate Chapel is one of the best church's I've EVER attended...and I've been to a few here in the Seattle area(from California) Church is not the building it's the people seeking Jesus,an this body is such!! No one is perfect,not one,but when we come together to seek His face in His eyes we are! If you're looking for a good church, this is a church for you. There's something for everyone: from 9 months to 99 and up ! People are very friendly and helpful. I have been going there for about 20 years and love it ! I've grown in my spiritual life in an amazing way. Every Sunday the pastor brings messages from the Bible that uplifts your spirit and soul. This was one of my favorite churches as a young adult forced to go to church. I only wish it were closer to Seattle for easier access. Pastor Rowlands is great. He sounds and looks a lot like George Carlin (from afar). His messages are entertaining and engaging. Even though I was forced to attend, I was able to get into the message and learn a little something. Their choir is one of the best around. They don't do the awful pop-style worship but a nice and straightforward with minimal accompaniment and easy to follow. The choir's repertoire is a great gospel style that sounds amazing even though they're all really white. One of the most spiritually uplifting times are when they do baptisms. They first have all the baptisees line up front and tell their story. Then the choir starts up a rousing gospel song as everyone gets up and starts clapping along. During the song, the baptisees are led through the baptism tub one-by-one. As each person rises out of the water, everyone starts clapping and cheering while the choir keeps on singing. It's probably the most moving and joyful times I've experienced at church. read more

My wife and I have attended Westgate Chapel for the past four Sundays and it's just so beautiful to worship there and sense the Holy Spirit moving among God's people. I just love the After Service as God's people linger in His presence and worship. We have heard four different pastors preach and they have all been wonderful. It's great to see people of color come together and worship. I like to comment on a earlier review that portrayed this church in a very negative way. That particular review is so far from the truth, it's nothing like that, if you are a genuine christian who has a solid walk with God, I'm sure if you attend that church and witness for yourself how wonderful God's presence is when all God's people come together, and then you read a negative review like that, I'm sure you'll come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with that persons walk with God. My wife and I started going here about 6 years ago and we have never found a better church or environment. We are involved in multiple groups and activities and love it. Everyone is so friendly and seeking God is their goal. We all gather together under the banner of seeking the Lord and it shows. If you want a great church to join and are seeking the Lord, then this is the place. I cannot say enough good things about attending this church. I wish everyone had such a great place to worship and meet other believers. read more

Shiny on the surface but rotten to the core. My family and I attended this church for years. Superficially it seemed like a good church but the deeper we got the more we did not like to see what was hiding below the surface. Staff treated people poorly, the pastor often didn't write his own sermons or read from the Bible but instead just paraphrased, the worship team was more into their own egos than helping people enter in to worship and when we volunteered we were often taken for granted and treated like second class citizens if we did not have the right last name. They should be ashamed of themselves, I'm just shocked how long my family stayed there letting them treat us like a tool. read more

So much love from them and choir is unbelievable and you can tell that everyone really loves God and worships him;) i try to invite everyone i meet:) oh and of course cant forget that they have an amazing discipleship for men called 'NEW HEART PLACE" its a rehab for the addicted and its a house where they live and God changes their lives,its so amazing to watch each one of them change and become new people:) Praise God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! services on sunday morning at 9am and 11:15am and prayer service on Tuesdays at 7pm. Yeah, i have been twice on tour with their UGEN Choir in Europe. This were wonderful times. I experienced a lot of people willing to support each other and love each other. They came to Europe to bring good music and their stories to the streets and halls. What i really liked, was the long and deep conversations with the staff team. My family and I have been part of Westgate Chapel for 16 years now. We have been blessed by the community that Westgate is. Prayer meeting on Tuesday nights have changed my life. The teaching is sound biblical teaching and the pastors and staff are amazing. From the nursery to seniors this is a place to grow in the Lord in a powerful and mighty way. I was raised in a Christian home with amazing parents and in amazing churches but when we first came to Westgate I would walk into the sanctuary and tears would start to roll down my face because the presence of God was so good. It is a beautiful experience that I still often have. There's peace in this place. read more

I love this church and have be attending (when work doesn't interfere!) for 15 yrs. My daughter, now 18 has been blessed to be involved in the youth choir, youth group and several outreaches in our community. We volunteer as much as we can. The youth choir age ranges from middle school to college ages and sounds amazing! It accepts everyone no matter if talented/blessed with a good voice or not! What a joy to find a place you can join and belong without having to be perfect at an instrument or vocals! :) You see, my daughter is special needs and loves to "join" but struggles to be accepted by her peers-kids well be kids! These kids have been her link to a normal childhood that I don't think she would have had if not for choir. The mix of more mature and young members open up a wide variety of knowledge and experience to all the singers! And face it, we go to places willingly, as teens, when our friends are going and we want to see what cool stuff they are involved in! Keep The United Generation Choir at Westgate Chapel alive, intact and growing for our kids, for your kids and for the glory of God....don't disband this choir.....our kids could wander and we don't want that, at all! read more

Our family started going to this church when we felt a need for some spiritual food. We got it! It is a marvelous church, the people are loving and nonjudgmental, the worship is REAL. The spiritual refreshing I get each time I get to church makes my whole week go better. My husband died last summer and so my boys and I have struggled, but we feel that this church has been a rock for us to cling to in the storms that life sends your way sometimes. We are so thankful that it is there for us. Pastor Alec is a gem, as is his wife, Rita, who directs the choir. The music is my favorite thing. The only thing I miss is Pastor Alec used to give the blessing at the end, May the Lord Bless you and Keep you and make his face to shine upon you, etc., and now they do it a different way. I liked the old way better. I love the baptism services, and my 2 sons are looking to get baptized soon. They are 14 and 18, and they think it is a cool church and they love it too. Lots of classes available and lots of people who reach out to you. Getting involved in a class makes it feel like a small church rather than a huge church, which it is. But sometimes that is wonderful. read more
