I guess you can say Pastor Judah reads his Bible well. Additionally, I have been apart of the City Church since 2009 and couldn't imagine going anywhere else...(have gone with friends to their churches and they've ended up switching to city more often than not). I have been blessed to meet an ever growing community of AWESOME truly happy people that are more encouraging and genuine than I have ever experienced before. This all despite what season good or bad that they may be in the midst of!!!! I recently switched to this campus as I felt it was a better fit for Young Professionals than the University Campus was... as well as its closer to where I recently move--in Ballard.. Super fun loving environment!!! I can comfortably and confidently give this church my seal of approval if you're looking for a sanctuary and church to call home the Seattle area... multiple campus' across the city!!! Anyone and everyone is welcome with no judgement whatsoever! This church has more heart and service than anything ive ever seen...its inspiring! Just make sure to get there early if you want a good spot ( like at 6pm when the doors open) Trust me, you'll want to be up front or in the center, because being on the sides can make it a little tricky to hear the instructor. The yoga itself leans more towards a Hatha style, which is perfect for all levels. The instructor for the last Yoga + Sound Bath was amazing, and there's something so peaceful and relaxing about practicing yoga here, especially after one of *those* Mondays. The sound bath just takes it to a whole other level of zen. They have mats and blocks available, but it gets pretty packed, so bringing your own is a smart move. If you're looking to unwind, reset, and leave all that Monday madness behind, this is definitely the place to be!

Music is world-class, with a women's choir at the 5:30pm mass. Co-ed choir in the morning and usually just 1 incredible cantor at the 8am. With an incredible organ, Gregorian chant, beautiful classical pieces, and songs the congregation can sing along to for the gathering song & hymn of praise, you don't want to miss going here at least once, or while visiting Seattle. You'll know these hymns, but you will not find a John Michael Talbot song nor guitar here lol. (Think more Joy to the World, all creatures of our God & King, Doxology. Organ bangers.) Homilies are always relevant & topical, with challenges for "both sides" of the aisle. A rotating array of priests each week, different from week-to-week. With a focus on living out the Matthew 25 gospel (in my opinion), the St. James bulletin is PAGES long with resources & ways to help our neighbors and get involved (and they have a kitchen feeding the community). Soaring vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, and a central oculus over the pulpit with pews laid out in a cross around the central raised portion. Above the doorways at the interior of the entrance a very sizeable organ dominates the view. The entire facility looked clean and well-maintained, it was free to walk around and street parking and structure parking is available within a few blocks walking distance. Happened to walk by on the way back after an event just dismissed here, heartened to see this organization reaching out to local communities in need.

The next 2 years the congregation gathered around and supported our family with meals, house cleaning, babysitting, and support. Note: it's non-denominational if you're wondering. Worship was a bit loud when we first started but they adjusted it for closing songs. People were super friendly. Many came up to us and greeted and introduced themselves (&they weren't designated greeters). They introduced us to their families and others in church. They invited us to the upcoming 4th of July event (which we went to). And overall were cheerful kind and friendly. Honestly MORE people IN churches should be like this. What I mean is if you don't know someone or see someone new go out of your way to say hi and welcome them. It's not just the job of the greeters and staff. The church is predominately Russian, ukranian church body. A little diversity. They have an English service at 10am and Russian at 1230. People gather in the lobby chatting or grabbing a cup of coffee at their coffee bar in between services. Nice to see that sense of community. We'll go back again to continue getting a feel for if it's our home church.
