But jujitsu is most practical of the martial arts to build self-confidence and truly be able to defend yourself in any real life confrontation. Andre is the owner of this facility and has been instructing kids for years. My only regret I have is that we only finally took the plunge a few months ago. Jujitsu is so not mainstream that I was reluctant for my children to give it a chance despite all the positive things I had heard. Now, My kids love it! The class sizes are small with personalized instruction. This is martial arts at its practical best! Great culture and community. If you want your child to build self-awareness, physical and mental strength, and learn a practical and useful martial art, this is The place!!

My kids also clearly find the belt and stripe system very motivating, and are excited to take on new challenges to keep making progress. But we're a month in to classes, and they are more and more enthusiastic each time they go!

Master West responded immediately with a potential plan. We had an evaluation scheduled for the day after his arrival, attended a few trial classes, and he was attending an appropriate skill level class twice a week. The class schedule had some flexibility to allow for his other planned activities. Master West provides the individual attention and assistance to each participant, and he helped my grandson bridge the small knowledge gaps. The program includes building self confidence and respect for others which was exhibited by the support and inclusivity of the other students. We'll be back next summer, for sure.

We initially looked elsewhere but were turned off by impersonal classes and long-term contracts. Jung Do stood out right away with smaller classes, a junior program for younger kids, and flexible month‑to‑month tuition. After the trial, it was an easy decision to enroll. Master Siwon does an amazing job with the kids; he's upbeat, patient, and great at building confidence. Our youngest was very shy at first, but with his encouragement he's now thriving and has already completed his first belt test. The stude are wonderful too and really add to the supportive environment. Beyond learning taekwondo, the program emphasizes respect, responsibility, and personal growth at home and school, which we've genuinely seen reflected in our kids' behavior. The kids love the goals, rewards, and sense of accomplishment, and talk about earning their black belts someday. Highly recommend Jung Do Taekwondo, they provide excellent instruction and a positive atmosphere!

The masters are great with young and old kids. Even if these young kids are shy the masters get through to them and build their confidence. I've seen students go to being shy and not caring about there kicks to being very social and kicking with grate form. And the masters don't do this by being rude or being aggressive which I think is a stereotype of "breaking them down and building them back up" as they say but instead focus on being kind and slowly getting them out of their shell and Encouraging them to try new things. And if they aren't ready then that's ok to them. It is a great place to learn and get out of your comfort zone to reach new goals. I truly believe this is a great place and I am proud to say I have taken classes here for 2 years and am nearly a black belt-EP

Every instructor we have encountered shows kindness and respect, and clearly cares about the students they are working with. At the same time, they hold to the same standards and expectations set out by Master Lee. The school has been an amazing part of our family for more than seven years now, and we are so thankful to be part of the YS Lee family. This guy is a snake oil salesman. I called to get information about classes and was told to come in…read morefor an in-person appointment. I showed up expecting to discuss training, only to spend the entire session being subjected to a sales pitch for his program. The meeting was largely about ranks, certificates, and why I should commit to his program--none of which I was interested in. I made it clear that I wasn't looking to treat TKD as a comprehensive system. I wanted to extract the useful kicking skills from TKD and incorporate them into a broader cross-training approach focused on practical stand-up skills. I had spent months researching and mapping out how I wanted to approach my training, including which skills I wanted from each martial art and how I could realistically manage the cost of multiple memberships. Rather than discuss those goals with me, he essentially acted as though he knew better than I did what was best for my training. I explained that my plan was to train different arts in blocks--for example, spending several months focusing on one art before rotating to another--partly because maintaining multiple martial arts memberships simultaneously can be expensive. He dismissed this approach as ineffective and a waste of my time. His position was essentially that simultaneous cross-training was the only effective way to train, completely disregarding the financial limitations that can make maintaining several memberships at once unrealistic. He then literally called me stupid because I wasn't willing to accept his approach and commit full-time to his program. Even more ridiculous, after I explained that my goal was practical stand-up fighting and that I wanted to avoid making ground fighting the centerpiece of my training, he recommended BJJ. That completely missed the point of what I had explained I was trying to accomplish. I also mentioned that I had some limited experience with JKD (Jeet Kune Do) and was interested in continuing to develop it. He dismissed JKD as ineffective for practical street fighting and claimed that former JKD students had performed poorly in his classes. I found those comments particularly dismissive, especially given that I was asking about my own training goals rather than asking him to endorse his personal opinion of other martial arts. I obviously can't verify his claims about those former students, and based on my own experience with JKD, I strongly disagree with his characterization of the art. I'm not interested in collecting ranks and certificates or spending years becoming invested in one particular system. I'm interested in extracting useful skills from different martial arts and putting them together in a way that makes sense for my goals. Apparently that wasn't acceptable unless I was willing to buy into his entire program. Aside from my experience with the instructor, I also found the overall atmosphere to have a very kiddie-corner, family-oriented vibe. That may be perfectly appropriate if you're looking for a place to put your kids after school and have them work toward ranks and certificates, but it wasn't what I was looking for as an adult seeking serious, practical training. That made the instructor's insistence that I abandon my own carefully considered training regimen and conform to his program even more ironic. I came away feeling like I had just been sold a package at a McDojang rather than given honest information about martial arts training. If you want to follow this instructor's system exactly as prescribed, maybe you'll have a different experience. But if you're looking to cross-train, have your own training goals, or simply ask questions without being pressured and insulted, I'd look elsewhere.
