I went to the bike shop yesterday with the intention of having my clips removed and my original pedals put back on my bike that I got at Christmas....a friend of mine (an awesome rider and totally competitive) encouraged me to get these clips and shoes, which I did....I was unable to get the clip thing, I thought it was too hard and just not for me....so I ended up just looking at my bike and not riding it....okay I was terrified of the idea of crashing! Jacob put my bike on the little thing that lets you pedal but not go anywhere (I think he called it a trainer) and he made some adjustments to my clips and gave me a lot of very patient instructions about stopping and removing my dominate foot (I didn't even think I had a dominant foot!), I was able to get my foot loose but I told him I was still scared I was going to crash, so he told me that, "you're probably NOT going to crash, but you WILL fall over". I left for the flattest, grassy most kid-free part of Riverside parks I could find....I DID IT!! I was able to ride, remove my foot, everything, oh and I joined a riding group (we rode all around the playground with tons of little munchkins) I had the best time ever....we finished the ride got back to the parking lot and I removed my dominant foot and forgot about the other foot and I did it, I fell over! I was so happy to get that out of the way!! I laughed and I survived and it was worth it!!! Thank you to Jacob for being patient and kind and making me believe I could do it! Yay!!! read more
