The last time we tried to eat here we were told they were fully booked and this time we saw several people turned away. This time around with a reservation, we were excited to eat here but the food felt very short of our expectations. The food was ok, there were some hits and lots of misses. Food: 3/5 We had the octopus stew and kibbeh as appetizers. The octopus was perfectly cooked, not rubbery or chewy, it was nice and tender - off to a good start! But it was bland, there was absolutely no flavor. The kibbeh was dry though the filling had good flavors and lots of potential. My husband had the lamb stew and it was just ok. If it wasn't for my main course, I would have scored this place 2 stars. I had the duck confit and it was cooked perfectly, meat was almost falling off the bone, tons of flavor, crispy skin. The roasted potatoes were delicious and the little salad balanced the fattiness. There was only 1 standout dish from 4, and with a menu that isn't very big, it seems that the odds are against you. Service: 2/5 Not much to say, standard Dutch service - slow, awkward. They also didn't really seem to know what they were doing. A large group of 15 walked in, they had reserved, and the waitstaff became extremely flustered - didn't you know they were coming? Atmosphere: 3/5 It is a very cool location and they have a beautiful table with various appetizers they assemble for your tasting platter. There is even a old CRT monitor converted into a flower pot. What I didn't like is that people would come in and just leave the door open. It is cold outside guys! The waitstaff just ignored it, so if you do not want to freeze you will have to get up and close the door each time some muppet does not close the door. Value: 2/5 At 25 euros/person for an appetizer and a main, it seemed reasonable but the portions are tiny and that didn't include drinks. We were quite hungry afterwards... I would recommend making a reservation, but with food like this, don't even bother coming. I'm not sure why it is so packed!

If you really want to guarantee a spot for dinner here, make a reservation ahead of time, but to be…read morehonest, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. I'd only come here if I couldn't find anything else to eat - I prefer Fin de Siecle across the street for more traditional Belgian food (it's a no-reservation, wait-in-line kind of place). We ended up here because we had eaten at Fin de Siecle already the night before, and the restaurant we wanted to go to was full, so this was one of few options to dine at on a Sunday evening. The service here was interminably slow - it took them almost 20 min to get me a table. I didn't have a reservation, so I was fine waiting, but when you tell me 5 minutes or 2 minutes a handful of times, it's just better to tell me that it's a 15-20 minute wait for a table. It worked out fine because my fiance had to go find an ATM to get cash, since this place doesn't take credit cards. We thought this place was more Mediterranean (per Yelp's categorisation) but it was more Italian than anything else, with Spanish tapas and some Italian starters / antipasti. They have a lot of "world tapas" and the menu had a lot of different options of varying cuisines, but this place seemed to just make a lot of things on the mediocre side instead of making fewer things that taste great. On the tapas side they have bruschetta, fried bacalao fritters, patatas bravas, fried calamari, crostini. They have 7 salad options to pick from, which is definitely nice to find in a restaurant in Brussels, where most of the choices on the menu revolve around potatoes and meat. They have about 10-12 choices for pasta dishes, Belgian dishes, meat, and fish. You should be able to find something to eat on this menu since it's fairly varied. Bruschetta (6,50€) - We were starving by the time we sat down, so we got an appetizer - they have 2 bruschetta dishes, the smaller one at 6,50€ has tomatoes, parmesan cheese, basil, and anchovies, and just one piece of bread, and the larger version is almost double in price and has 2 pieces of bread and includes shrimp scampi and garlic. The bruschetta was fine (we got the smaller one) - not mind blowing, but not worth the price. There were a lot of tomatoes and the parmesan cheese was good but the bread was just okay and didn't seem particularly fresh. Salade Publico (15,90€) - This salad had a really huge piece of grilled salmon on top of shredded cabbage and iceberg lettuce, and had some fried calamari and bacalao / cod fritters. The salmon was farm-raised and overly plump, and slightly overcooked. The lettuce/cabbage was fine, but would have preferred mixed greens. The fried calamari and deep fried cod fritters didn't seem very fresh and seemed previously frozen and very-much mass-produced like it came out of a big bag from the freezer. We wanted salad, so this was at least decently healthy and satisfied what we wanted, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get this salad again. Ravioli Publico (15,20€) - These raviolis had meat inside, and topped with brown mushrooms, some parma ham, and a cream-sauce. There were maybe 10-12 pieces of ravioli on the plate, just FYI for those of you who are used to ordering ravioli and getting 5 pieces and then sit there hungry for the rest of dinner. The other pasta dishes looked bigger to me, and I wished I had gotten the orecchiette instead. The pasta was fine but didn't taste particularly fresh. I've had similar tasting pasta from the grocery store in the refrigerated section. I don't think I'd get this again if I came back. The service was not super - they took a long time to bring us wine after we ordered (and forgot my glass and then charged us for an extra one when I asked for my wine -- glad we checked the bill!) and were slow at taking orders / bringing food. Maybe they were super busy, but they just seemed short-staffed on waiters/cooks. They also didn't bring us the complimentary bread all the other tables seemed to get. They don't take credit cards, so plan accordingly. I wouldn't come back here unless there was nothing else open around here. The food was just mediocre for the price, and the service was subpar. It was okay - I'd give it between around 2.5 stars, maybe 3 if I was feeling generous. There are better restaurants in Brussels.

However, their side pita was very disappointing as it wasn't as flavorful or soft as I would have liked. Their kefta (minced meat) and soujouk (spicy sausage) skewer also lacked flavor and weren't as juicy. I would definitely recommend getting their chicken skewers and ras asfour if you come here! Service: Very attentive staff although food takes a bit longer to come out. Ambiance: I really enjoyed their decor and ambiance as it made it seemed as though you were somewhere else with their background music, wall decorations, and videos playing.

The place was packed so it's advised to make reservations up front. We had a little amuse, followed by the starters duck tartare and foie grass.. Wasn't amazed then the second course (fish) ok.. Main dish was great (I had the lamb) and I absolutely loved the desert (citrus fruits and home made vanilla ice cream) Love the way they integrate local produce in their menu. Thumbs up! We had the 'Surprise' menu as it saved translating problems and we had plenty of time. This was preceded with a glass of Prosecco - bland, but followed with some very well chosen and impressive wines to match each course. The wines stood out as being 'just what you look for' in each particular category, with a particularly outstandingly good US Chardonnay. The food dishes were very inventive and excellent. You can see them being prepared by the two chefs if you get the right table. My only slight down being that they were a little slow arriving though our good company made this no problem on this night. A good place and well worth a detour.

The man, I assume the manager who handled my bill was very kind and thanked me for coming in. I liked it better than Rodeo, a competing steakhouse nearby. As a result, I was expecting them to start rushing us through our meal, but it wasn't like that at all. They did promptly take our order, but after that they mostly left us to enjoy our meal. I think they have camera monitors behind the counter, which is great because then they don't clog up the walkways (the restaurant is pretty cramped), but also a little unfortunate because we ended up waiting on them to give us the check. I thought the steaks were decent, but I've definitely had better. I love that you can order a combination so you can try all the steak as well as lamb if you wanted. I was a little confused by the flags that came with our steak - one had the dollar sign and the other had a gun. Wait, am I still in the Netherlands? My favorite part of the meal was actually the fries. This place has the best fries hands down. If you want "can't miss" steak in the Netherlands, then I recommend Restaurant Wielinga in Leiden. They had the most mouth watering steak I've ever had!
