I got into an accident and went through Insurance to have my vehicle fixed. The job was done well cosmetically from what I could see. However, about a year and a half later, I had another incident and the second that my front bumper was damaged the paint immediately flaked and chipped away. When I brought my truck to two different shops to get quotes to have the work done, the FIRST THING out of both of the managers mouths at each shop was "Who painted your bumper"? When I tell you that it was the first thing out of both of their mouths I am not lying. I told them who it was, and that the reason I went to them was because they got such amazing reviews on Yelp. They both told me obviously that the bumper was not primed and prepped at all and that it was just simply painted. The bodywork, etc. that was done to my vehicle from what I can see was done correctly. I was not told otherwise. But the painting of my replacement bumper was half ass. You would expect that simple things like that are done correctly. I really wanted to leave them a good review and to be honest with you I wouldn't have known any difference had I not gotten into a second fender bender. But I'm glad that the other two mechanics pointed it out to me immediately. I had asked for a quote when I was there to fix a small dent in my trunk and I was quoted $1200 from Bona Fide. I found another gentleman that's been doing bodywork for 40 years and he did it for 250 bucks and did a phenomenal job. If you're gonna be a retail shop that charges retail prices you better do quality work front to back.

I specifically asked them to put on Toyota brand parts, paid for them. Yet to my surprise, they did most of the job with aftermarket parts. I only know this because I took my car to get a regular check up at my local Toyota dealer, and they informed me that the parts were in fact, not Toyota that were replaced. Not to mention, there was a huge fiasco with an employee leaving that was working on my car, which significantly increased the time it took to fix the car. Two weeks turned into four weeks, every code under the books is popping up, and I need to get my car fixed at Toyota now.

I went to one auto body that gave me a starting estimate of $980 plus more if they found more damage underneath, once they took the fender and bumper off. Next, I went to Scotsman's auto body in Mount Sinai on 25A on the corner of 30 Chestnut St. Scotty came out to look at the damage. He assesed what was wrong and repaired the damage in about 15 minutes. Free, no charge! The shop and premises are clean and immaculate and Scotty was so honest and friendly. I was not disappointed with Michael's. They switched my rental car from a small sedan with Enterprise to a large SUV from Hertz. That was just the start, Hertz brought the car to Michael's in the morning that I dropped off my car. They fixed my car in three days and it looks as good as new.
