R Factor of the North is an excellent roofing contractor. We had shopped several different roofers…read moreand R Factor provided the best quote for the roofing material and services to be provided. They came highly recommended by our now-retired remodeling contractor who has done several projects for us. He still uses R Factor for his own buildings. The on-site crew was excellent. They cleaned up the property every evening before they left for the day and I never found so much as a nail after they left (it helps that they use a big rolling magnet). The crew would take time to explain to us what they were doing and what was wrong with the current roof (part of one roof had dimensional shingles that had been installed in the wrong pattern). Another part of the structure had sheathing boards that were over 100 years old; some boards had damage that they quickly fixed at no extra cost. They also made sure that my weather station and weather vane were reinstalled in the proper orientation. If they left at the end of the day and a section of roof wasn't completed, they would tarp the unfinished section to avoid any damage if rain should occur, even when precipitation wasn't forecast. In all fairness, three of the four workers were the offspring of the company owners, so they knew their family reputation was at stake. The owners were excellent, also. Ted and Trisha were very good at explaining what needed to be done and in helping pick appropriate colors. Before the project started we decided to change the drip edge color; Ted made a special trip out with samples to make sure we had the proper color. There was good communication throughout the project. We had a quick response for our request for a bid. If we had questions and they were not immediately available, they would return our call promptly. I highly recommend R Factor of the North and would definitely use them for future projects. Finally, if you are concerned about some of the older, negative reviews on other sites, know that those reviews reflect the previous owner. Ted and Trisha purchased the business in January 2022; reviews before that date should be taken with a grain of salt.

I kept calling (out of irritation) and a man answered the phone. They told me I could email my info. I did but got no confirmation that they'd received and no follow up phone call. 3 days later I got someone to answer again, this time a very cranky woman and told me that "you are expecting an awful lot since its only been 3 days since you called". and "when you get 100 calls a day its hard to serve everybody"! and then she thanked me for calling and hung up. Wow. so, if you like to deal with a company that doesn't answer their phones, doesn't return messages and then when you finally reach them are rude, this is the place for you!!! Good luck

They came out sprayed in some insulation, the same issue was still present, all I wanted was for him to come out, look at the job performed and give me an evaluation. That's it.... Tell me what his thoughts might be regarding the work performed. No show no call. I would say there were five or six "I will call you back" or "I will come out tomorrow" which never happened. No problem asking for his money. One star is even too much, avoid this company at all costs...

We had Paradigm Energy Services do an energy audit on our place late last year. Ric Evans is a…read moretotal professional, easily as capable in documenting all of the energy loss issues present in our home as he is at explaining them and the solutions available in an understandable dialogue. In addition to an at-a-glance size-up of sorts on the onset of the audit, Paradigm Energy Services subsequently provided us with a detailed report, neatly illustrating each efficiency issue we were facing in an easy-to-read outline complete with color photographs and infrared images. This report was emailed to us, which was a nice touch as we had the option of reviewing it and filing it as we saw fit. Ric explained that though most energy loss occurs from the combined effect of all the smallest points of entry (in the case of air entering from all the nooks and crannies, bad insulation, etc), we were facing a major source of heat loss from our uninsulated attic and exterior basement walls. This issue was highlighted and detailed in the report, giving us a number of options, at varying levels of intensity and financial practicality. We opted on using an open-cell expanding spray foam, which was professionally installed in the two areas noted by Paradigm Energy Services. The difference that was made come winter was really impressive, and we've seen substantial savings as a result. Smaller suggestions made a big dent in our energy loss as well. We also started to utilize insulating plastic sheets adhered to all of our window frames, and installed storm doors where there were none. Evans explained that windows were a major source of energy-transfer, and short of upgrading older styles to newer, more efficient models - which was acknowledged as being a big jump, financially - the next option was to seal them in with heat-shrinking plastic. Now we have no drafts coming from our windows - it really makes a huge difference. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paradigm Energy Services. Whether you're interested in saving some money, saving some energy, living greener or all of the above - you really should give them a call.
