Just a few days ago, my fight to have my kitchen crown molding corrected went all the way to the top: to Mr. Armstrong himself. And guess what he said? If I want this crown molding "fixed," I'll have to pay the carpenters out-of-pocket. LUDICROUS!!!! This was my kitchen crown molding when we moved into the house, and they refuse to fix it. The cabinet people say that this is "how they always install it." REALLY? Does it look correct to you? We have it in writing that the Armstrong rep agreed to fix it earlier, so we'll probably just go to small claims court. This is Armstrong Homes for you. Run! It's been a nightmare.

This is a family business and it shows, they treated us with respect each time we came by the office, called or emailed.they offered great advice on the final design and were easy to work with on any changes along the way. The sub contractors they work with are phenomenal, each was very respectful and professional and showed up when they were scheduled to do so. We highly recommend Community Builders for your new home or garage. We regret not finding them to build our home as well.

I was here for every inspection and the town inspectors at the time were Sr inspectors and they were impressed by the way interior walls were fastened from cap to concrete with 5/8 threaded rod every 3 ft or so on every interior wall. O e man did my block work he mixed all the mortar and laid every block himself every wall is absolutely perfect. It took one man a week or so but it was so worth it. I been looking at homes being built in citrus springs lately for my nephew the quality of work is absolute shit! I'm sorry the slabs don't even have a house on them and they are cracked everywhere the block looks like a kid did it I saw one joint 40 feet long one end 1 inch mortar on the other end there was block to block to try to level the row. So shotty when the last 2 hurricanes came over I couldn't even hear it in this house. Serious too. I had to go outside to see how it was. Dale runs the entire thing himself. Has no one to blame. And gets it done. He is a good man and a very good builder. The only thing they didn't get right was the paint tinting inside. And the ac guy put the ac unit in the attic against my better judgment and I wound up having it moved to the garage. I don't see a point in saving a few feet of space putting the coldest thing in the home in the hottest place. It leaked as I knew it would in only 6 months. The ac system in this house is elaborate with 6 filters some are very high. I would pay attention to that make sure you can easily change filters when designing. Also custom kitchens in ocala would not be used for cabinets. Next time. Nice fronts but i dont want pressboard in any wet area ever again.I took my base cabinets apart and rebuilt with real birch plywood after a small leak. Spend the extra. Now. I also would go with a larger drain field and eliminate the hot tub in the bathroom I used it maybe 12 times in 15 yrs looks awesome though. Maybe 2 separate hotwater heaters one for guest bath and one for kit and master it takes a few minutes for hot water to get to guest bath. Or put the in wall fast heaters. Those are things I would change but no reflection on Dale. I built lots of homes this one is the best so far.

I was an out of state customer building my 3rd custom home. It took 1.5 months to secure my loan…read moreafter several mo of going back and forth about blue prints that she didn't have but was advertising that it was one of their homes (I paid $2,500 for a blue print that they should have had), then it took them 6 mos to apply for a permit (total from start to finish was 19 mo.) during negotiations she told me my ideas were cockamamie, she charged me $7500 to put a snack bar in (I drew a picture with the cabinet sizes and that was included in the $7500 quote) and then she tried to charge me an additional cost for the cabinets, as soon as I signed the contract, that was the end of communication! When we moved in the master bath sink faucet was a used facet, with calcium deposit all over it (we are on a well)??? Master shower did not have hot water (come to find out after cutting a hole in the wall, the hot and cold pipes are switched and they used a knock off of a Moen water valve (no wonder it was leaking), Air conditioner did not work and now 2 years later the blower motor had to be replaced, after we moved in and used the dishwasher, it wouldn't work (burnt wire nut), rough electric contractors asked me who did the finish electric because they were never asked to come back...... (so who did it)?, there is splattered paint, chucks of mortar and stucco all over the front and back Lanias, garage corner and front porch columns did not have caps on top of fake brick base and were left looking sloppy, tray ceiling and light is not centered with Picture window in dinning room and window crooked and very hard to lock, garage door into the house fell off 2 days after moving in because it only was being held up with thin 1" screws, we did not get any shelves for either bathroom vanities (told us they cost extra), granite snack bar wobbles, gap in corner of patio doors (you can see outside), tan grout on white base trim throughout house. Called and sent an itemized excellent sheet by rooms a week before the 1 year warranty and still have not had any response (1.5 years later), much less finishing the list from my walk through inspection. As far as the value-the cheapest lights and windows you could buy! Quality-none!!! Service-absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE unless you enjoy talking to a message machine and no return call(s), I was told she would send pictures because we were from out of town but I would have to wait several weeks to get them after calling several times and talking to an answering machine. Thanks to having neighbors that would go over and take pictures for me. No idea who could rate this company anything over a 0! But if I don't put something, then anything I said would not make anyone looking to build with them a reason to look what happened to me. I wouldn't try to sell this as a spec home much less a "custom home".
