When we first moved to the area, a dentist was a priority for my adult daughter, who suffers from a severe case of Social Anxiety so I first read reviews then reached out to Townsend Dental for an appointment. I sat down with who I thought was the office manager - but now I'm thinking she was front desk manager - regardless, I met with them, we sat down and discussed a treatment plan, I explained her diagnosis and struggles and I was assured that she would be placed with ONE dentist and ONE amazing tech during her visits. I explained that it was important for her to know them and feel comfortable. This I was promised, and my daughter went to several appointments with no trouble. But fast forward to recently when my daughter was told she needed more ($4,000) work done. I scheduled the appointment, sitting in the waiting room, she bursts through the door - her face so red I was afraid she was going to have a stroke, dental bib still around her neck. I didn't know what happened but tried to calm her and had her wait outside. I obviously wanted to wrap things up inside so I could check on her outside. Later I found out that what happened was the tech was working on a tooth that wasn't expected and so my daughter TRIED to question it but was ignored. She panicked and ran out. The failure here is on the staff that this tech and this doctor were NEVER informed of my daughters diagnosis and therefore were not prepared. It was a definite failure of communication. Several days pass (it took 2-3 days for the physical stress to dissipate) and I called the dentist office - thinking that we would discuss next steps and how to get her the treatment she needs. They however, were only concerned with the fact that they weren't compensated and lost $4,000. So they sent her a very cold letter saying that they no longer wanted her as a patient. I was shocked and honestly, it broke my heart!!! I tried to do this right so that my daughter wasn't hurt but she ended up hurt AND abandoned. This has been a MAJOR setback for her. Please be aware. When I followed up with a specialist, they told me there was no sign of needing a root canal at all. That kind of misdiagnosis is not only upsetting--it could have cost me a lot of money and unnecessary treatment. To make matters worse, I was told I had a balance due, only for the office to later say, "Oh never mind, it's not there anymore." After I had received balances in the mail. Didn't even receive a cleaning, only x-rays which I paid in office same day. So having a balance in the first place was just a scam until I called to confront them about it. That level of disorganization is unacceptable when it comes to healthcare and billing. I no longer trust this practice and would not recommend them to others.

Btw Courtney, three UNAUTHORIZED procedures plus ignoring the actual problem, is DENTAL malpractice but I'll let you and phillips figure that out when the state licensing board calls you. I reported you, your office, and if I don't hear from you about fixing the tooth YOU messed up that's causing him significant pain, I will be happy to contact a lawyer. You worked on not one wrong tooth but THREE, causing him significantly more pain than he was in and then when I told you I'd be reporting your office and filing a malpractice claim you stated "do what you want, your insurance WILL pay us and we already took your money".

At one point I was even feeling pain and he didn't stop the procedure like he said he would. He even tried to continue to work and his assistant had to tell him to re-numb me further!! I am convinced he is a closet sadist and doesn't need to be practicing dentistry. I don't even recommend him if you are desperate (which I was)! His assistant had to guide and suggest what he should do. Even as I sat in the chair with my mouth open, I can feel that he's doing something wrong. In order to make the tooth he was repairing even with the one next to it he proceeded to file that good tooth down to make it even with the other and to my dismay and the dismay of his assistant, he completely messed up both tooth. Now instead of repairing one tooth, he had to repair both tooth and after 4 hours of trying he stopped trying and told me to that when I brush my teeth the roughness will smooth out. Fast forward 5 months later and both tooth have chipped, leaving a "V" shape between both teeth. Now I have to find a cosmetic dentist and pay to fix his botched job.
