Amazing place. Check a bear. Get set up for a catch and pay. I love the local handcrafted mugs.

Buc-ee’s - My $7.48 Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich was killer good!

We returned to Buc-ee's on a Friday evening. It wasn't crowded. We walked down every aisle, saw…read moreevery wall and display. The only detail that could have made the visit richer was if the mascot had walked by. The blow up Buc-cees decoration was festive at the front entrance. The famous bathroom was spotless. Hubby enjoyed a brisket sandwich. I still adore the banana pudding. The holiday items are out in full force. It would be fun to sit in on the branding sessions. My favorite item purchased is the waterproof phone pouch (with snaps- not the pesty plastic top with tabs). There are lots of new items since my last visit. It looks like Homegoods, Nordstrom, Bass Pro Shop, It's Sugar, Pottery Barn, Dollywood & Crate and Barrel had a shopping summit.

Knew that we were going to stop at Buc-ee's, bc of course. They have a basket of bananas, and I picked a pristine one if not *slightly* green at the neck. Check out. $0.55. We walked 45 feet out the adjacent exit and ate the banana right outside the slider door so I didn't have to have an empty banana peel stuffed somewhere in the car for the next several hours. It was black to the core on the inside halfway down the banana, like the kind of black you don't keep eating, not just a surface bruise. Since it was clearly bad and it was ONE MINUTE after I bought the banana, I figured they'd be like - no problem, we'll make it right, it's a $0.55 banana. So we walked right back to the same cashier who had sold us that single banana one minute prior and showed him the black banana and asked if I could just get a replacement banana and he said it was too late. One minute, black banana, same guy. $0.55! So yeah, that's absolutely nuts. Do better, Buc-ees. That's really messed up. I was really looking forward to a banana.

FILTHY and food and trash left in Dining Area for DAYS. The night crew spend most of their shift standing outside Smoking and Vaping. They told us 3 times we would HAVE to wait for Our Food. We were left ALONE in Store until other Customers came in the door not surrounded by the 4 Staff SMOKING like Chimneys. NONE Of them washed their hands. The elderly 2 women with grey hair were then YELLING inappropriately at a CUSTOMER in Drink area. The one kept going out to auto in front of doors as we waited longer for food. A man came in she said is her husband and she just talked to him long time as we were told they do EVERY day when he comes to trade off auto with her and their ADULT son who sits in the auto for Hours every day & that she was so busy taking stuff to that car instead of waiting on paying Customers! This is a Family place and we do NOT need the LOUD rap music with bad lyrics or Shirts with inappropriate on front of them. Why are they NOT in Sheetz shirts ?!?!? We hear inappropriate language including profanity from this night crew who leave the trash FULL and overflowing, drink areas with spills on floor and counter and out of of lids, cups and long straws while they Smoke and goof off acting like they are in high school. This place has poor management to allow this and the trash to NOT be changed for days inside and outside. Staff should be FIRED for cussing Customers and being disrespectful to Customers including telling Customer They will JUST have to wait while they smoke! It is safety risk to have ALL Employees OUTSIDE the Store! It is GROSS to come 1st thing in morning or late and have FOOD trash from hours before or DAY before. The 2 Grumpy grey haired women need to stay home if they can not be friendly and helpful. We do not need to hear their arguing or have our children subjected to their bad attitudes, smoke by doors which is AGAINST The LAW in VIRGINIA to SMOKE by Public Doors as EMPLOYEES at this Location do. Our Friend with Oxygen can NOT go near that door after pumping his Gas. WAWA could come in and show this Sheetz how to treat Customers and have a CLEAN store.........

But the best thing about Midtowne is the amazing selection for EVERYTHING. This is the place for a beer snob....they even sell Delerium! Not to mention the amazing support they show for the local market--they sell muffins, cookies and other baked goods made by local people, and always have a few CDs from local bands (which Harrisonburg has no lack of!). Also, there's usually a bulletin board up displaying events happening in the area like live music, farmers markets, yard sales and things of this nature. The service is usually great--my favorite employee is Chris--the most friendly and helpful guy in Harrisonburg. Support Downtown Harrisonburg--shop at Midtowne!

More importantly, and the reason I am writing this review, is that Midtowne Market stocks an ever changing selection of unusual/hard to find beers. They stock Rouge Ales, Bell's Beer (a good brewery from Michigan), and many other brands that you will be hard pressed to find without a trip to Northern Virginia. Finally, note that their selection is ever changing, so on a positive note there will usually be something new to try, but on a negative note, you might find your new favorite beer only to have it disappear the next time you visit. It's not perfect, but it's a refreshing change from the usual beers sold at supermarkets elsewhere.
