On the first…read morevisit there, I took my newly adopted cat and expressed concern about her belly being so large and also mentioned that she was spayed and she even has the tattoo to prove it. The vet assistant kept ignoring me or telling me that she was pregnant after telling her that my cat is spayed and was pushy about it. Then on my last visit there, as I was waiting to take my cat into her appointment, the staff was yelling and berating another client and arguing with them in front of a full lobby of clients. The client who was being yelled at and berated was just asking to reduce the $15 charge for an entire nail clipping/trim since they only clipped/trimmed 1 claw and not an entire service. Then after my cat's vet appointment, I contacted the staff asking about giving my cat her antibiotic through a shot since NOTHING was working to give her the antibiotic in pill form, and the woman I spoke to said in a VERY rude and condescending tone "um, no. It's an antibiotic, they don't come as a shot." This was either a flat out lie or sign of being uneducated because for one, my parents always get my animals back home their antibiotics in shot form, and a quick google search for my cat's specific antibiotic in shot form said it does exist and can get it at any veterinarian office. I would HIGHLY recommend NOT taking your pets here. Don't waste your money, time, sanity, or effort on this place. The veterinarian himself being the only person with dignity and respect at this office is not worth it.

We have always really enjoyed Dr. Schlenker and her staff until this past week. We took our elderly…read morecat in for a mouth sore on Monday, and he received treatment and daily pills to take at home. A few days later, his mouth was noticeably improved, but he was not eating much and seemed more lethargic. I called and asked if this could be expected after treatment and/or a side effect of the medication. They said they would ask the doctor and call me back. Someone called back and immediately talked about kidney failure and several other possibilities, saying we should bring him in for bloodwork if we were concerned. I thanked her and said we would absolutely bring him in if needed, but I was trying to determine whether what we were seeing could be normal after his treatment or was something more concerning. She avoided the question and told me that if I had questions for the doctor, I needed to make an appointment. I explained that we knew every pet is different and were not asking anyone to diagnose him over the phone or give us a definite answer. We simply wanted to know whether these symptoms could reasonably be expected after the treatment or medication. If not, we would bring him in immediately; if so, we could monitor him over the weekend. Her response was, "I don't have a Magic 8 Ball that can give me all of the answers." Dismissive, condescending, and incredibly unprofessional. I asked if Dr. Schlenker could call us directly. She immediately became defensive, asked why, and told me she does these calls "all the time" for Dr. Schlenker. When I continued trying to explain what we were asking, she told me she isn't psychic. What a ridiculous response to someone worried about their elderly cat. After the call, I messaged the office and again requested to speak with the doctor because, based on the interaction, I wasn't confident our concern would even be relayed accurately. Andrea responded that if I had further questions, I could make an appointment. I explained that after the way we had been spoken to, we were not sure we were comfortable coming back and would prefer to speak with Dr. Schlenker directly, who is also the owner of the practice. I eventually received a text from Dr. Schlenker with a little more information. She said she could examine his mouth to determine whether it was an ulcer, irritation, or something else, although at his previous appointment she had told us it was an ulcer. I thanked her and again explained that we were simply trying to find out whether his behavior could be expected following treatment or could be a side effect of the pills. I also addressed the way her staff member had spoken to me. Our cat could be healing normally or could have a serious problem, and instead of compassion or even a general answer, we were told she wasn't psychic. Dr. Schlenker never replied. A quick phone call likely could have cleared this up, but there was no acknowledgment of how her staff spoke to us and we still never received an answer about possible medication side effects. Again, we understood that every animal is different and no one could tell us with certainty what was happening over the phone. We were asking what patients can reasonably expect after the treatment provided. If you get a flu shot and feel sick the next day, your doctor can tell you that may be an expected side effect; if you have severe swelling, they can tell you that is not an expected response. That is the type of guidance we were asking for. It really sucks that this happened during a scary time with our cat, especially because we had always had such good experiences with Dr. Schlenker. Being repeatedly told we had to make and pay for a new appointment just to ask what to expect from treatment and medication provided at the previous appointment is not something I have experienced with another provider. I cannot imagine my own doctor refusing to answer a basic follow-up question about a procedure she performed or medication she prescribed without requiring another appointment.
