They have been amazing. Very welcoming office, very personable, kind and patient. I am so happy to have found them and have had a great experience with my cleanings and Invisalign treatment. read more

Good place for a routine check up and any add on things you might need. The DR has never pushed any products on me and always told me it's my choice if I want to buy things like a water flosser, do night guard, etc. I think he really cares about patients and accessibility of easy ways to keep your teeth clean. I'm taking my dental health very seriously after having a crown and so far so good with my experience here and cleanings so far! read more

I've been going to a dentist every six months since I was a child. I've never had an issue until I came here. The filling they applied to a chipped tooth fell off just 1 week later. It also felt very rough and unpolished. My previous filling applied by my last dentist in another state lasted for 10 years with no issue. When they applied the filling here, it was so sloppy that my back teeth didn't even touch when I bit down, so I had to return and wait another hour to get it fixed. Dentists should always check that a patient's bite is even and that their back teeth can touch. After a few bad experiences here with the fillings, unusually long appointments (I agree with the other reviewers here who mentioned this), lack of overhead mirrors, and an unpleasant experience with Jackie who raised her voice at me unnecessarily when I questioned the billing, I finally decided to switch dentists. My new dentist fixed my chipped tooth and I haven't had any of the above issues. It's been 2 months and the filling they applied hasn't fallen off. It also feels SO much smoother, just like the fillings I had previously done elsewhere. read more

I recommend Dr Gonzalez! He is extremely thorough and informative. The staff is nice, accommodating and always welcoming.

Russel is my go-to dude. I got Invisalign with him and he was a hoot the whole time. A very personable, very friendly and organized dental office all-together. He's a very knowledgable orthodontist and would consider this establishment a teaching office as well as a few different people cleaned my teeth or helped with fitting issues over the year. He's chatty and tries to get to know each of his patients on a personal level, and tries to do his best when it comes to billing within your budget. He's not the nickle-and-dime dentist you usually get. The facility itself could use a revamp, its a pretty dated, but overall clean and practical. Definitely recommend! read more

Ask questions and you will get answers. Dr. Young takes the time to provide you with valuable knowledge about dental care. He takes the time to get to know his customers and builds a better relationship with them. The teeth cleaning is fair and his office assistants are polite and helpful. They are great about reminders for upcoming appointments. Parking in the area may be tough, but there is street parking a few blocks up near the church and J-Town. read more

After being a patient of Dr Young for years my mother came into an appointment for her painful tooth and the lady at the front desk was awful for my elderly mother. Jackie the receptionist said to my mother that'll be 137$ my mother said I have insurance. Jackie then says we'll I don't have insurance for you and if you don't pay I'll just tell Dr Young you walked out!! My Mom said it should be on file? Jackie said no! I need the money upfront. My mother then explains "Is there anyway I can go get the card from my husband and bring it back to you since you say you don't have it on file?" Jackie says no! We will just bill you. My mother almost had a breakdown in the car as I was picking her up! I called the office personally and spoke to Jackie and she was rude and unprofessional to me, cutting me off as I was talking. I told Jackie I also work in the medical field and we have been patients of Dr young for years. And I would never speak to a patient how you spoke to my mother. Jackie then hung up on me!! Wow this is very disheartening especially for business. A lot of patients will leave and take their business elsewhere because of people like this! We will not be back! read more

I was looking for a new dentist after my previous dentist decided not to do what i needed done, but what she wanted to do and ended up running through all my insurance. I made a same day appointment and knew i needed a lot of work done. I had to get a crown and a few more things done. He let me know everything i needed done. And was able to fix what was causing me pain. After a few visits, he did a pretty good job explaining what the treatment process would be. Overall very satisfied when the service. read more

I went in with yellow stained teeth and left with the whitest teeth cleaning, ever. I did not think that it was possible for my teeth to be whiter since I constantly drink tea and coffee. I did not pay extra for making them whiter, because the regular cleaning scrubbed and brought out my natural teeth color. I also learned that I might have less stained teeth if I quickly drink my morning coffee and switch to drinking water throughout the day. I recommend Star Dental because Dr. Young is the only dentist to discuss how to improve my daily habits. He points out which habits can be improved. He is the first dentist to recommend the dental pick and now I have much less cavities and tartar. I have also discussed which areas I can focus on regarding cleaning. My teeth are looking more photogenic and prior to meeting Dr. Young I did not think that this possible for me. But it is possible if you get the dentist that is willing to learn about your individual habits. And by improving one item per visit I have improved the look and health of my teeth and mouth. I recommend going the Star Dental way of treating teeth. It is a personal approach that focuses on your individual needs. read more

I saw Dr. Young for about a year and a half. Over the span of my time seeing him, he advised me to get extensive dental work, despite having minimal dental issues before seeing him. I was advised to get upwards of 10 fillings and a root canal (which perhaps was the only thing I felt I should have gotten). I have since started seeing a new dentist, who has not advised me to get any additional dental work since. I think Dr. Young suggested that I get significant dental work that I did not need, and felt pretty bummed by the prospect of spending thousands of dollars out of pocket (on top of what my insurance paid for) when I had few dental problems before. He was a nice and affable dentist, but thought his diagnoses were excessive. read more

I have been going to Dr. Young for maybe 7 years now. Whenever I see Dr. Young, he always takes the time to address any questions or concerns I might have. I like to think I'm pretty good at maintaining my dental health, so I don't usually have any special needs when I go in. The cleaning itself is pretty standard--no complaints there. Doc also occasionally keeps me updated with interesting dental tidbits (I would not call them lectures as other reviewers have), like ingredients in toothpaste that I should avoid based on recent research, which I appreciate. Other notes--staff is friendly, the building is clean and centrally located close to public transit and street parking (if you know where to look). Oh, and he does Saturday appointments if you can't do Mon-Fri appointments! read more

If you value your time, don't come here. I sat through a 1.5 hour lecture before getting 5 mins of cleaning. We then ran out of time, so I had to come back another time for an hour long cleaning (it wasn't even with Dr. Young the second time) During the 1.5 hour lecture, Dr. Young explained how a bite guard might help with my teeth. I politely nodded to state that I understood his slides but I never agreed to getting one yet. He did the impressions anyway after I said I need time to think about it (he said for his records?) and then I ended up with a $210 bill (they charged my insurance $$$$). I disputed it and they should be removing the bill. Overall, everything was a headache. Don't come here. read more

I had a pretty bad experience here. First, when I made the appointment, I asked how much a cleaning, exam, and xrays would cost, and was told about $240. But when I went to the appointment and was in the chair, they told me it was going to be $400. But the bigger problem was that I was told I needed to get 5 fillings and this was going to come to almost $2000. When I asked if I could put it off for awhile until Covid was less of an issue, I was told I should get it all done as soon as possible. I went to another dentist for a second opinion, and they told me that unless I was having pain (I wasn't) that I didn't need to have any work at all done. read more

I have been going to Dr. Young over 30 years now. Dr young is very personable and will take time to explain to you how to take great care of your teeth. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a dentist. The whole office is designed to protect the patients against Covid-19 with air purifier in every room and temperature check upon entering. I've heard of dentists ripping patients off before but never experienced it until here!! Beware of this place! I went in to get a tooth with a dark spot checked out and the woman I saw told me my entire tooth was cracked and I would need to have a $600+ procedure to remove half my tooth and put an enamel cap on it. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and it turned out the tooth merely had a cavity. They told me they accepted my insurance and told me my cleaning would all be covered. Ended up with $280 bill. Would never return to this place and am seriously in awe that a trained medical professional would try to pull those strings on a trusting patient. read more

Dr. Young is honestly the most care giving dentist alive! Not only is he thorough with his intentions for your dental well-being, but he is a man with great integrity. Dr. Young gives his trust in his patients as his patients gives their trust in him. My bridge work he accomplished is exceptional and he is so willing to work with you. I will always recommend Dr. Young! Which reminds me, it's time for the annual teeth cleaning! Take it from me, it's not pretty to need bridge work, but Dr. Young and his team, made the experience at ease and made my smile brilliant, once again. Thank you to the team of Dr. Young and Russell too! read more

This was my first experience being at the dental office and the scene went something like this........ "What are the top five things you should do to take care of your teeth?" Me: "Ummm, brush, floss, mouthwash, and....and...." "What else? You still have two more. C'mon, what else?" Me: "Umm...more flossing?" "No, no, no, you need rubber pick. And stay away from sugar and gum." Me: "Gum?" "Yes. Gum. Now tell me what are the top three reasons for not chewing gum" This went on for 45 minutes!!!! And this was before the cleaning. And he was out of my network. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ read more

Dr. Young has always been so informative, patient, and most importantly, honest. He doesn't try to "sell" you procedures you don't need. He truly cares about his patients' well being. He has so much experience and knowledge since he has been in this business for almost 3 decades. His prices are definitely worth it for the quality of work he does. I personally have been a patient of Dr. Young for over 20 years. Over the years I have had some incidents where I needed to be seen right away and he always accomdated me. My whole family goes to him, and everyone I have referred to him always tells me how he made their dental visit so comfortable. Another plus, his office is beautiful and in a very classy building. Doctor Young is a great person! I didn't know there was a way to keep your teeth strong until I met him! I recommend this place 100%

Amazing experience in the last two years with Dr. Young. He always likes to have conversation and ask how you're doing before jumping right in, and he takes as much time as needed to answer any questions you have, even outside of just the cleaning. I hadn't gone to a dentist for 2 years before coming here, and the damage was evident... The deep cleaning would take a while, so Dr. Young let me come back for a second session at no extra charge. Highly recommended. read more

Dr. Russell Young has been my dentist for over 40 years. He is very friendly and helpful in educating me about my dental health and always encourages me to continue to improve it. For the longest, I suffered from grinding teeth and dry mouth. Dr. Young has kept my teeth in check and has done a tremendous job in caring them. I am 66 years old now and all my teeth are still intact. I owe it to the professional work that Dr. Young and his staff have provided my teeth for all these years. There have been reviewers' complaint that Dr. Young will "burn your ears" with his long lectures. For me, I rather have a dentist like Dr. Young who will answer any questions I may have and be able to educate me on problems I encountered with my teeth. Most importantly is having a dentist like Dr. Young who is able to offer me choices and recommendations on how to proceed. He genuinely cares about his patients and will put his heart and time in treating them. During the recent years, Dr. Young has expanded his operation. He is getting older and cannot continue to handle all the many patients he has by himself. His dental associates and assistants are just as great and professional as he is. I am sure that each day they are absorbing all of Dr. Young's many years of knowledge/wisdom and professional dental experience. His office staff are very friendly and awesome in scheduling and reminding me of my appointments and accommodating me when I need to change them. I highly recommend Dr. Russell Young, D.D.S. - S.F. Dr. Russell Young does my invisalign and he has been helpful throughout my approx. 3 year process. In the beginning I had to get a frenectomy which made me nervous but he made sure during that time that I would be comfortable and relaxed so I wouldn't feel any of the lasering. The frenectomy went by fast and it was such a smooth process that I didn't feel anything that was going on. Also he was very patience with my invisalign case as I had to redo it twice as it didn't fit but he made sure to stay connected with me to update me with everything going on. I would recommend him as a dentist because he communicates well and looks out for his patients. read more

i have to give a shout out to Russell and his staff, I've been going to Russell for over 40years and my sons have been going since they were kids - their in their 20's now. I can't say enough about Russell, he's been a a trusting, honest, caring dentist. I trust his judgement, gives you advice and doesn't push you to get work done, he's on the conservative side and i appreciate that. Happy to say no cavities, and the cleaning was done also. I'm glad he was open during the pandemic and they do all the safety requirements. I'm worried about when he retires, who will i go too!! He assured me, as long as people will have the need he won't retire yet! read more

Dr. Young has been been my dentist for over 25 years and I would never consider changing that. His practice has grown over the years and Dr. Young himself stays on top of all the other wonderful providers working there who I trust will always do whats right for my dental health. His approach to dentistry is a conservative one meaning that he strongly believes in teaching his patients how to maintain healthy teeth and gums (think rubber tip) and will never recommend unnecessary procedures. I highly recommend Dr. Young and his practice and if it sounds like I really like this guy I do! read more

After I moved to San Francisco, I put off finding a dentist for a few years. Finally, I bit the bullet and decided to go. SO glad I found Dr. Young. He is awesome and so caring. I decided to get Invisalign, so I go there about once a month. They are going above and beyond to be safe during COVID. Dr. Young truly cares about his patients, and gets to know you as a person. I've also seen Dr. Kim a few times and she is also fab. The staff are friendly and helpful. I can't recommend enough! read more

I've been with this office for many years and continue to praise the customer service and flexibility they provide in addition to great dental work and recommendations. Recently, the office reminded me of my July 17 cleaning appointment. I was hesitant, as I entertained varying COVID scenarios. Friends and family provided emotional support and shared similar health-driven visits, so I committed to visiting. The office took every preventative and reasonable precaution prior to and during my visit. Cleaning supplies, patient distancing, masks, gloves and care were ever present in the office. Suffice it to say, all my anxieties were cast aside during and after my visit. Yours should be too.Keep up the good work! read more

This experience was not like any I've had before and want to caution those who are just going to get their teeth cleaned that they'll have to listen to Dr. Youngs lengthy lecture first. Basically he tried to sell me services before I received my cleaning and put a down payment on the services he recommended for what the insurance didn't cover. After having to endure countless pictures of rotten teeth and a graphic explanation of why my " teeth are going to fall out" he spent roughly 5 minutes on the actual cleaning and didn't polish or floss my teeth at all! He didn't have an assistant (just a person who could help him with the insurance part) and stated if I called back with a time I could come back I would need to put down the down payment " to reserve the time" who does that?! Very disappointing experience... read more
