I went to Dr Woo for veneers in the 1990s and they are still holding up! He was attentive and very skilled at his profession. Disagree with negative reviews. read more

My experience with Dr. Wu was awesome! He is kind and professional and did a great job on my teeth. Great for patients that are scared of the dentist. read more

Wasted a lot of time traveling and waiting for this dentist and office who never showed up to the appointment and was never provided with any timely notice of the no show. Since dental offices typically charge for no shows, will this dental office pay us back for their no show? read more

Steven Woo, a very good dentist whom I'v seen. Good skill, no pain, relax and comfortable during work. I'm so glad I found him! My teeth have been cleaned and maintained by Dr. Woo for years. and I'll look forward to coming back for my next cleaning... Thank you, Dr. Woo and Staff ! read more

Despite this guy being my dentist since I was a kid, I didn't realize how bad he was until I was in my teens. I finally switched dentists after he pulled some billing crap on my family. Besides that point, he comes off as elitist and arrogant. Like the other reviews say, he is very blunt about the condition of your teeth. But also lately, he has sucked as a dentist. He doesn't really pay attention to how your teeth are. If you go in for a cleaning, he'll rush through and do it in about ten minutes or so and not even check for cavities. He said I needed a filling, but completely failed to do it and said I needed to make another appointment the next time I was home. I finally switched to another dentist who actually noticed small cavities and got rid of them before they became a bigger problem. This guy basically got lazy in the past few years and stopped caring about his patients. Well my new dentist is ten times better and he got his education at a better school so booyah! read more

Been going here for about 5 years based on my aunt's recommendation (who has since transferred to another dentist, btw) Have definitely had better experiences elsewhere. Like some of the other reviewers have said, he is definitely very blunt about things and even seems rather insouciant in his attitude about matters. The women at the front desk are truly awful. They don't so much as acknowledge you at times. And, I also seem to see a different hygienist every time I go. On one occasion, I needed to reschedule a cleaning because I had to go home for a family emergency. I called to reschedule with one of the girls at the front desk and they couldn't even handle that correctly. I said can I switch the day to so and so date? I kept asking whether I could switch it to this day? I got an "um" or "ah." So frustrating! Another occasion, I called a week+ in advance to update my insurance information as my previous insurance was going to no longer be valid. You would think this would be an easy task, no? Well, I thought everything was taken care of and then receive a call weeks later stating that my cleaning wasn't covered. WTF? I immediately start getting very frustrated Then I ask whether they have my new insurance information in the system, and lo and behold, the other incompetent idiot I spoke with never bothered to update anything at all. Totally ludicrous!! Definitely find another dentist elsewhere, because this place isn't cutting it. Will be looking elsewhere. read more

Two stars because I give him the benefit of doubt. Okay, before I visited my dentist after him, I would've probably given him a 3 or 4 star. He is very blunt and straight forward about my teeth/mouth. For example, if he says I have to brush more thoroughly, he says it. If I need to floss more, he says it. He says that I better take care of my teeth and gums before I get some kind of disease. Well, damn that's harsh but thank you for being honest. FINE. Thats honesty right there. He isn't super gentle, but it isn't of too much pain. I'm deadly afraid of dentist trips period. I had been going to him from middle school to high school- a good couple years. I only recall him giving me teeth cleaning, and not much of ridding cavities, therefore.. making me believe that I didn't have many cavities! But when I visited a dentist in Sacramento for another check-up about a year later (yes, I probably skipped one session or less), they told me I had 18 cavities (or a number around there, but I just remember being extremely shocked)! Now... it could've been that I freakin got myself those 18 cavities from my last visit until then, but that is highly unlikely. Because for any other trip, I would either have none, one, and at most three. It was freaking outrageous! And I had to get a root canal! How could he not have noticed that? So I think that he noticed some things, but just ignored it. Therefore, 1 star plus 1 for the benefit of doubt. read more

I find it hard to believe anyone would trust this dentist. His staff doesn't return calls. I suspect some of his office staff isn't even legal. From the outside of the building, his office looks like a Salvation Army. It's hard to believe this is a medical office. It doesn't look hygienic. If he doesn't take pride in the simplest of things, like cleanliness, how can he possibly be a skilled dentist? And personally, he seems like he is not a nice guy at all. Vindictive and small minded. I think he should be retiring soon but not soon enough. There are so many outstanding dentists in San Francisco, I find it mind blowing that someone would choose Steven Woo. read more

Dr. Woo has been my dentist for about 8-9 years now and he is very knowledgeable and professional. I had a pretty bad cavity 9 years back and went to a different dentist to check up on it. They told me I needed a root canal because it was touching the nerve. Seeing as I didn't have dental insurance back then we went elsewhere to get a second opinion. That's when we went to Dr. Woo. He checked my cavity and said it was VERY close to the nerve but not touching it. He advised that it probably best to go ahead and get the root canal but he could try to save the tooth first by cleaning the cavity out which would have been cheaper than the root canal. The procedure was a success and my tooth has been very good since then. The best thing about Dr. Woo is that he makes you feel very comfortable. His procedures are very well executed, precise, fast, and painless. He is also a very funny and friendly guy. Try him out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Excellent Dr coming to dr for past 30 years, I have dental insurance but they are all criminals and a rip-off I self pay at this location , cheaper than my copay with insurance. read more

Have been with Dr. Woo close to 20 years. Has replaced many of my teeth with caps, done root canals, cleanings, and they are working just fine. He is pleasant, knowledgeable and will take care of your teeth even if you don't. Not sure about the negative comments. Maybe they owe him money... Most of all, my fear of pain from the dentist has nearly gone away. He will make sure before the drill touches you there is no pain. He will stop, if there is any pain and make it pain free. He pulls no punches, gives you the truth, and fixes what you want, without adding anything in. Looking forward to another 20 years with the Doc. read more

I never write bad reviews but when Dr Steven Woo took advantage of my mother, I will not stay quiet. My mother saved her money and paid out of pocket about $5000 for dental services in July 2016. Of one of the services, Dr. Woo installed a dental bridge. It broke about a month ago around the passing of my father. While busy planning my fathers funeral, I told her to go back to the dentist so he can fix it. Dr. Woo conveniently told my mother that he guarantees his work for one year and would not fix it for her. Maybe he should tell her of his patients from the beginning. Dr. Woo did not give her any options or discount any fees to fix it. It was sad and pathetic. What a crook!!! He basically took her money and gave her a faulty dental job. Would you send your mother to see him??? There's no way I would recommend him to you or to your mother. Your hard earned, well saved money should go to someone with ethical morals. read more

Dr Woo's services & knowledge is okay but, the receiptionist and girls making appointments and handling files are AWFUL!!! Tried to make appointment five times this year for my daughter without success. Poor english spoken, phone skills and never get messages to Dr Woo. Terrible! I will be switching Dentist service immediately because of them. Wonder if they are even legal citizens...hmmm read more

I was going to another Chinese dentist, who would tell me I had a cavity every single time i went to see him... I thought I had a real problem! I started asking my friends who they were going to and my boyfriend has been going to Dr. Woo for years. He really respected Dr. Woo so I decided to give him a chance. It turns out I had zero cavities, which means that the other doctor was trying to rip me off! I also had to pay out of pocket since my dental plan sucks!! But Dr Woo pointed out that I had a worse problem - potential issue of deep pockets!! He did an extra good cleaning and warned me to floss very often or the issue would become really bad. He really knows what he's doing and explains everything very clearly. His English is good and I trust him to know what's going on with my teeth. I would definitely recommend him. He's on the other side of the city and I still go make sure I see him. read more

I've been to Dr. Woo's office since 2002 and find Dr. Woo to be super nice. He has always done a great job quickly and he has never waste my time. He's also very honest and only recommended procedures which are absolutely necessary instead of trying to reap maximum allowance from the insurance company like other less honest dentists out there. read more

I've been going to Dr. Woo's office since I was a little kid, his old office used to be right around the corner from my house! =). Now I admit, he is blunt, but that only shares the fact that he is serious about his work. This is your oral hygiene we're talking about, not some white lie. Tell to us straight otherwise how else are we to know the condition our teeth and gums are in. Dr. Steven Woo takes his work seriously, shows what type of person he is. He is blunt yes, but it shows how much he cares about his patients. read more

Dr. Woo is a great dentist! I've had my share of terrible, AWFUL dentists, and so it was a completely different experience coming to him. It truly is the first and only dental experience I've had where I'm actually OK. I only recently started seeing him, but he's completely cured my fear of anything related to mouth problems -- he's very patient, kind, and attentive and makes sure that your experience is enjoyable (as enjoyable as having people probe inside your mouth can be, anyway). I also have to give props to the dental assistant. She is SO sweet and friendly and makes sure that you're comfortable during your procedure. I'll have to agree to some of the other reviewers who say that Dr. Woo is VERY blunt about the terrible condition (or whatever condition) of your teeth... But I found this to be a plus because the other dentists I'd seen neglected to even tell me that I had any problems, becuase I didn't have insurance. If you're deathly afraid of dentists and have been dreading your next visit, but you know that it's about time you go anyway, make an appointment with Dr. Woo. Express your concerns with him, and he'll be sure to treat your teeth the way they deserve to be treated. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Woo since I was in college. He is one terrific dentist. He is efficient and fast. Every time I see him I usually have a cavity and he takes care of it. My kids have been seeing him too and they just love him. He is up to date with all the latest news on dental health and knows his business! read more

As a Satisfied customer of Dr. Steven Woo for over 15 years, I was Shocked to read these 2 very negative reviews about him and his service. I disagree with the 2 reviews, and strongly doubt the credibility of "Bailey Z." & "Lainey H.", siting sharp contradictions to my own pleasant doctor-patient experience with Dr. Woo, and to the responsible & meticulous "Steven Woo" that I know. So, earlier this week when I went to Dr. Woo for a cleaning, I asked him about this. He's very upset after learning about these untrue reviews. Speaking of the 2 reviews, each patient makes an appointment for fixing a specific problem; it's not right to suddenly stretch one patient's appt. to make unscheduled fixes, while the others wait beyond their scheduled time. That's WHY we have appointment time-slots!! As for the 18 cavities, the host should take better care of her teeth, and brush more often~~~if she owns a toothbrush J Finally, I think we DO WANT our doctors to be blunt, tell us straight-out what the problem is and not "dance around the bushes"! Nobody likes to have more problems. But like it or not, the truth is the truth! "Have to say something!", SF, May 2009 read more
