Yvonne, the office manager, does a fantastic job managing billing and scheduling, and responds quickly to my emails and phone calls--they are a dream team. Dr. Ho cares deeply about his patients, keeps excellent records, and carefully monitors your teeth, so there are no surprises. He also put me in touch with a great orthodontist when I needed braces. I used to love going to the dentist: The "ooohs" and "ahhhs", "Your teeth are so perfect, no cavities ever? No braces, really? Wow." I silently preened, basking in the compliments. Flash forward, 2008: Post-baby, I get my first 2 cavities. It happens, babies grab all your tooth-strengthening calcium while you're pregnant. I'm bummed but not worried. Then my dental health alarmingly starts trending south: Another cavity in 2017, thanks to the loss of dental insurance and putting off the dentist, now requires.. a root canal. This is what "deferred maintenance" gets you. Present Day, 11/8/18: I walk slowly to my new dentist's office with a heavy heart. I am afraid. As we cross Clement, I see Dr. Phong Ho doing Tai Chi in front of his office on his quiet street and he greets me and my son. His warm smile and demeanor put me better at ease. But minutes later, he finds a cavity (underneath a filling long worn away). And another. I start to well up and in dulcet tones he assures me he's going to take it "one tooth at a time" and confides he's "going to take care of me, don't worry." His shirt stitched with UCSF reminds me he's also a professor there. I fixate on the logo and the x-ray film in my mouth to avoid more tears for fears. After my exam, he recommends a Waterpik which I buy immediately (thanks for the stackable savings, Kohl's!) Dr. Ho is going to fix my dental issues so my smile is returned to its former glory and long deferred maintenance, corrected. Insurance or no insurance, I've learned my lesson. Hands down -- the ABSOLUTE GREATEST dentist I could ever imagine. Here's some of the stuff that Dr. Ho did that was great: * He reviewed all my past dental work and pointed out things that I never knew about it -- how it was done, how effective it was, quirks about it's qualities (fillings, etc). * He did a comprehensive cleaning and exam, and broke down what he was doing step by step. * He let me watch what he was doing when he drilled and filled my cavities! So awesome. * He gave me his cell phone number and told me to call anytime with any questions. I've always wondered why going to the dentist is supposed to be a black-box experience. If it's because dentists assume you don't really want to know what is going on, than I'd say that this is not true with Dr. Ho. In my eyes, Dr. Ho is not just a dentist, but he's an educator. I honestly thought I already wrote a review for Dr. Ho. Five stars across the board. Based on the other reviews, I see that it could be difficult to get an appointment here. But I had absolutely no issues setting an appointment after I found his office when I was searching through my insurance portal. Thanks to my fellow yelpers, I've never been happier with my dentist appointments in my life. He takes care of his patients and is thorough. I went in for routine cleanings for the first 2-3x. He asked me if I had any concerns 6 months ago and I mentioned I have slight sensitivity on one side of my lower jaw. A new cavity! It's been about 10 years since I had a new one. And it was next to an existing filled tooth. That existing filled tooth was repatched a few times and was cracking. We decided to remove the old filling + refill while filling in the new cavity. All done in one visit and it absolutely seamlessly. YOU CANNOT EVEN TELL MY TEETH HAVE BEEN FILLED. He called me to check on me and the feel of the bite within the next few days. No longer the case! Dr.Ho is friendly, gentle, professional, extremely capable, and he clearly cares deeply for his patients. I had a unique case in which several treatments were viable, and Dr.Ho took the time to explain his thinking, was flexible to adjust the treatment plan at the last minute when I changed my mind about what I wanted, and ultimately produced a beautiful outcome. A CONVERSATION WITH THE TOOTH FAIRY So, on December 12, 2017, election night in Alabama, the night Roy Moore was sent packing, (already an auspicious day to visit the dentist), a 7th grader, at approximately 5:05 p.m., gave me a Dora the Explorer fruit snack. Neverminding the grubby fingers, the sweaty, dirt-cracked palm, I unpeeled it from his hand and popped it in my mouth. It was green. And it was delicious; so delicious in fact that my chewing became uncharacteristically enthusiastic and within moments an ancient crown atop an even ancienter wisdom tooth was orbiting around the equator of my mouth. I texted Dr. Ho, "Squeeze me in tomorrow?" Two hours later, around 7 p.m., with only a few precincts left to count in Alabama, Dr. Ho called me back. "Hey, Jeff, what's the problem?" "Dora the Explorer fruit snack, old crown, you know." "Ouch. Well, I'm still in the office. Going on vacation tomorrow. You wanna swing by now." "Seriously?! Great, I'm on my way." "But wait a minute, Jeff. It looks like you've already used up all your insurance money this year. Do you know what that means?" "Uh, that I gotta pay?" "Yes, Jeff. That's what people do." I've been having a difficult time writing this review, because I don't think that there are enough/the right words to express how amazing/kind/caring/meticulous/etc. Dr. Ho is. It wouldn't do it justice. Simply read through all of these reviews and you'll understand the surface level. January 2017 I had a 6-mo appointment with Dr. Ho. The day of my appointment, within an hour before I was due in, I learned that my mother was re-diagnosed with cancer. As you can imagine I was a blithering mess. I couldn't tell up from down, let alone remember that I had an appointment. I received a call from Dr. Ho's office ~5 minutes after my scheduled appointment. They very sweetly checked in to see if I was still planning to visit. Through sobs I responded with my confusion and that I could be there in 15 minutes if they were able to make it work. To which they kindly said yes. I hopped in an uber and was at the door within 15 minutes. I was trying to be brave; not because I was going to the dentist (I'll get to this later) but because I didn't want to pass my sadness on. But as I sat in the chair and in his typical welcoming way Dr. Ho asked how I've been, I completely started crying again. How embarassing. Or, it could have been. Dr. Ho offered to reschedule if it would be easier, but knowing that normalcy was the only thing that was going to make me feel less torn apart, I convinced him that after wiping away the tears, I would be ready. And with that, my friend Dr. Ho, kept my mind off of reality, and focused on the wonderful things in life. He talked to me about movies he'd seen with positive outcomes and uplifting story-lines, about his joy of teaching, and I can't even recall the details but I know that though my mouth was agape and I was at the dentist, I was in caring hands that allowed me for the duration of that session to forget what had happened an hour before. At the end of that session he offered me one of his muffins that another patient had shared. He had planned to take it home but decided I could use a little homemade love that day. So when we all gush over how a visit to Dr. Ho is more than a visit to the dentist, that's just one of my many experiences that show he's an angel in a dentist suit. And as noted above, I've always feared the dentist. I haven't had any horror stories (knocking on wood) prior, but dental work can be painful and awkward, expensive and scary. None of this is true with Dr. Ho. And I always look forward to seeing his smiling face. read more

I just went to see dr. ho last week and had such a great experience. I normally hate the dentist and feel like they can tell that you need filling replaced or root canals when you really don't. Dr ho was fantastic. On time appointment, super kind, he actually performed the cleaning which normally I feel like other dentists rarely do this, and walked through any questions and dental care with thorough attention. Forget being a great dentist, Dr. Ho is truly a great person above all! I wish I could give him more than 5 stars. On Valentine's Day my father was hospitalized for what I believe was a tooth infection. After visiting the ER, he had to get an emergency procedure (with a different oral surgeon) which sadly involved having his front tooth extracted & he was admitted to the hospital for the entire weekend. Now, knowing how my dad is....he was more concerned about walking around with a missing tooth then his overall well being (LOL). So my mom was on the phone with Dr. Ho & explained to him the entire situation & trying to book the next available appointment to have a replacement tooth put in for my dad. Turns out, he has to wait at least 3 weeks so his gums could heal before a tooth can be placed in. You should of seen the look on my dad's face when I broke the news to him! Broke his heart on Vday knowing he had to wait that long! Now, any normal dentist would of just waited to see my dad in 3 weeks....but believe it or not Dr. Ho went out of his way to visit him at Seton hospital! I couldn't believe it when my mom told me that Dr. Ho stopped by to check on how my dad was doing! Now tell me...is he amazing or what? He really didn't have to go all the way to Daly City just to do that...a simple phone call would of been fine. Let's not forget, it was Valentine's Day! I'm sure Dr. Ho had more important things to do then check in on my dad. But wow, it really brought a huge smile to my face knowing he cares THAT much for his patients. Dr. Ho isn't currently accepting any new patients so I guess this review is moot but I can't not write a review. Dr. Ho's office isn't fancy and you won't be greeted with a glass of sparkling water but Dr. Ho could move his practice into a cave and I'd still follow him. But what you will get is an amazing man who happens to be a dentist. Being a dentist isn't Dr. Ho's identity like most dentists. Dr. Ho is like a good friend who just happens to be your dentist. Dr. Ho has qualities I wish my therapist possessed. Dr. Ho is kind, skillful and empathetic. Yes, I said empathetic. I've had many dentists over the years and not one stands out; in a good way or bad way. Dr. Ho's approach to dentistry is unique in that he takes a holistic approach; he looks at everything. Dr. Ho takes my blood pressure, checks my lymph nodes and screens for cancer. Yes, cancer. It kind of puzzled me at first but Dr. Ho is all about preventive care and I think this is awesome, when you see that this industry is fueled by cavities and poor dental hygiene. Dr. Ho high-five's me when I tell him that I've been flossing daily. Sorry for the rambling; it's just really hard to put this in words, which is weird since Dr. Ho is just my dentist but he really is so awesome and treats me with such care and sincerity that I know I'm in good hands. Of course any good dentist needs the clinical skills and know-how to do their job but so often, dentists and other medical providers are so impersonal and it's refreshing to see Dr. Ho's humility and skill go hand in hand. He could easily be a jerk and get away with it because he is so skilled but Dr. Ho is so modest and that just makes him more awesome. I had a crazy toothache and Dr. Ho saw me that same day despite having a booked schedule. He took time out of his lunch to treat my toothache. Dr. Ho has literally told me that he doesn't feel right knowing that one of his patients is in pain. Last night I busted my front right tooth. Half of it broke off clean. You might be wondering how the heck I did this. I'll just say one word - hockey. I called doctor Ho to see what we should do. He recommended that we temporarily fix it by cementing the tooth back together. Yes, that means I found the chipped part of my tooth on the ice. A tooth is much easier to find them contact lenses. What's amazing though is that he came back into the office after already working a long day. He had just finished dinner and was ready to watch jack bauer with his wife. Sorry, Mrs. Ho. Your husband is really dedicated to his craft and to his patients. He fixed me right up and before I knew it I was out the door before 10pm. So...I read the reviews on Dr. Ho before deciding to go with him, and I took them with a grain of salt. Really, aren't dentists all the same? I just came from my first appt with Dr. Ho and found that the reviews are absolutely accurate. He's totally the best dentist I've ever been to!!! Definitely recommend! What I usually expect from dentists: - takes forever to schedule something (4+ weeks out), with separate appts for exam and dental cleaning - nice, but tends to nag or scold a bit about dental hygiene - comes by for a basic exam of x-rays, but then has dental cleanings done by a hygienist What I found with Dr. Ho: - super easy to schedule (2 weeks from when I called), with times as early as 8:15am! Totally helpful in accommodating a difficult work schedule. - exam and cleaning in one appt - awesome! - super nice, no nagging or scolding! He gives positive feedback on what I'm doing well but brings up issues on what I could do to improve. - does the whole sha-bang himself, and does a very thorough job. This is a definite plus because you can tell he's very experienced (and very gentle). This has definitely the most comfortable dental exam/cleaning I've ever had! I tend to have rather painful cleanings because my gums are really sensitive, but Dr. Ho made it fairly painless. He uses a water pick for the cleaning, but does it masterfully so that I don't end up with water all over my face (completely clean! unlike my other water pick experiences). Then he goes back with a dental tool to make sure to get all the crevices under the gums. Last note is that he truly believes in preventative dental care and avoiding work that may not be necessary. Many dentists are "drill now, ask later"...he's not this type of dentist. We have a few things that he wants to monitor, but he says that he doesn't want to weaken the tooth unnecessarily. I totally agree with all the 5-star reviews of Dr. Ho and do not think there are enough superlatives to describe him and his practice. I have been going to the UCSF Faculty practice for many years (my profile photo, alas, stems from the days of my early youth...lol). I had a much-worked-upon-in-the-past tooth fall apart early on the morning of December 24 , and was very concerned that I could do more damage if this were not immediately addressed, as I could not imagine normal eating as this tooth was so damaged. The UCSF practice is closed over the year-end holidays and the UC "Emergency Dentist-on-call" referred me to Dr. Ho who graciously squeezed me into his busy schedule. Based on my experience, Dr. Ho as a miracle worker! Much has already been written in other reviews of Dr. Ho, so that in my review I have to give credit when I quote and fully agree with "Paul d's" review to which I have added "listens to the patient." Dr. Ho REALLY cares about all of his patients. I've been a patient here since I was 6 years old. We lost touch for a couple years when I went off to college...but I'm back and Dr. Ho is my primary dentist once again! It's scary though...I can't get this man out of my head! Sometimes when I'm lazy at night and I don't feel like flossing....I think to myself..."Hmm...what would Dr. Ho say?". Just so I won't disappoint him...I floss. Thanks Dr. Ho! Anyways, my visit here has always been great. The only problem for me is that I don't have any dental insurance. I needed to get a deep cleaning...and that costs $275 PER QUADRANT!! Oh man...my wallet took a huge hit! But I had to do it. If you are looking for a new dentist, I would highly recommend Dr. Ho. He teaches at UCSF and really knows his stuff. I've been to many different dentists over the years (I moved around a lot) and experiences have been all over the map, from okay to gawd-awful. Dr. Ho is the best dentist I have ever been to. I simply can't even compare him to any other dentist - he really is in a league of his own. Not only is he extremely patient, caring, and gentle, but he loves dentistry. In my experience, that makes a huge difference in the level of service you receive. He still teaches at the university and is always says how much he loves it and gets great satisfaction out of helping his students. He also has such a positive, zen-like attitude...you just feel comfortable and at ease when you're there. As far as treatment: He's always on time, the office is spotless and his assistant is very sweet. I have some super sensitive areas and he gives me this special mouth swish that makes the cleaning process completely painless. He also does a proper dental exam. He checks the lymph nodes around your neck, takes your blood pressure, and checks your jaw. On my last visit, my blood pressure was a little low and Dr. Ho noticed it has been going down since my last 3 visits. I was able to use that info to get checked at my regular doctor. He also went out of his way to help my husband who had a sudden toothache. Dr. Ho's schedule was completely full, but he came in super early (7:30 am) to fit him in before his first appointment. What a gem! You just won't find a better dentist. I don't plan on moving away from the Bay Area, but if I do, I'd fly back to SF just to see Dr. Ho (seriously!). read more

He is a gentle dentist who doesn't try to scam you. No phantom cavities with this guy. :) If you tell him you don't want a treatment he won't shove it down your throat either, pardon the pun. Discounts for cash, and he accepts all major credit cards. The location is easy to find, and the woman running the front (his wife?) is nice. The staff are all Chinese, but there is no surly Chinese service here. :) The only thing I think some might complain about is that he is on the gentle side, so if you like someone who really, really go at your teeth you might prefer someone else. He primarily uses a water pick instead of the usual metal implements, so you may not feel as scrubbed clean, though the water method is probably better for your enamel. I know people who like to have as little cleaning as possible, and some that like to feel like every nanometer of their mouth has been powerwashed. Dr. Ho does something in between, and he did my cleaning himself. read more

This review is long overdue but will be based on my experience with Dr. Ho for last year. First, I'd like to say that Dr. Ho is an extremely caring and easy dentist with whom to work. I originally had a crown done by a previous dentist a couple years ago when all of a sudden it had broken off during my Saturday breakfast! I immediately called up Dr. Ho who asked if I had any pain or discomfort, to which I said no - just some sensitivity. He then offered to see me at the time if I wanted, or if I could wait and come at 6PM, which I didn't mind. Later that day I saw him, and he quickly worked on adhering the broken crown back to my tooth! He later went on to do new crown work on me, at my request, since I was worried the broken crown could break again. During the operation, we found that I was very sensitive to the work he was doing. Rather than giving up or causing me more discomfort, he worked with me to slowly numb out my mouth even more to the point where I did not feel anything. The crown he installed in Q3 2012 is still in place, and we will see if I have any further problems down the road (given that doing crown work on a tooth more than once is risky as it is). All in all, Dr. Ho is an awesome dentist who I have had for regular cleanings as well as some more serious operations. He is definitely worth consideration as your dentist. read more

Dr. Ho is a outstanding dentist for three reasons. First, he's very knowledgable. He is a professor at the UCSF Dentistry School. You can tell he really knows what he's talking about, and he's very upfront with you, and takes his time to explain everything to you, answering any questions that you have. I always trust the advice he gives me, and you can especially tell the difference if you've been to dentists that you don't quite trust. Second, he never tries to sell you unneccesary procedures. In fact, he often tells me stories about dentists and the things they try to do to make extra money from their patients. He's very open about it, and makes sure he's providing you with the right service that matches your needs. Finally, he's one of the nicest people I know. Even though I only see him twice a year, he seems to always remember everything I told him. He asks me how I'm doing and about the things in my life, and you can tell he's genuinely interested. Dr. Ho (who was sitting patiently in the waiting area) saw me from his window, comes outside to greet me and lets me bring in my bike (and closes the door to make sure no one comes in unnoticed to whisk it away)! He is kind, he is gentle, and most importantly, he absolutely knows what he is doing. He cleans your teeth himself (never seen that before), let's you know exactly what is going on, and is extremely thorough without over poking and prodding. I didn't have saliva dripping down my face or things being wiped onto my little bib...it was nice :) The office is clean and simply decorated yet has great energy without a commercial or overly sterilized feeling. Good balance. Honestly though, I think the best part about this experience was simply the calmness that he, and in turn this whole practice, imbibes. I absolutely dread going to the dentist (and I've had some swell ones!) but I felt totally calm and confident in his skills. Cam on Dr. Ho for taking such good care of my teeth! Compassionate, gentle, kind, thorough, genuinely interested in his patients... all these comments are true. Dr. Ho is just wonderful (as is his staff). I am terrified of dentists and for various reasons hadn't had a checkup/cleaning in several years (job changes, moves, etc.... all excuses, I guess, to AVOID DENTISTS, plus the plan I picked last year had scary dentists on it if Yelp is to be believed). Dr. Ho does his own cleanings (!), did a head/neck exam, took my blood pressure before he started... I felt like a real patient, not just another appointment. As others have noted, no lectures, no scary stuff, no guilting. Do I floss? Um, not enough. He just noted during his cleaning that flossing would now be "easier" (after 3 years of plaque were gently removed). I got a kick out of how much he enjoyed his handiwork as he presented a mirror so I could admire my newly-gleaming choppers. Parking is tight in that area, and mostly metered, so if I ever have a long visit I'll park at the garage at 16th. But I would gladly take the bus to this dentist. I've been visiting Dr. Ho's office for almost five years. In that time, he had become more than my dentist, he is a friend. I look forward to my visits in his office. That's right, I like going to the dentist! Recently I missed an appointment due to illness. Dr. Ho is the best medical professional I ever met in my entire life. I know, it sounds corny and maybe unbelievable, but it's true I've had a bad string of doctors and dentists and I was itching for someone out there that actually cares and knows what they are doing. I stumbled upon his yelp page with a perfect 5 stars for all of his reviews and I instantly knew that he was the one to help me. I called him in desperation so I can use up my dental benefits for the year. Things ended up falling into place and I actually got an appointment with him. He is probably the first medical professional I've met that actually looks out for your best interest whether it's money, your health, or whatever. It wasn't awkward to talk to him. I have switched dentists many times, but Dr. Ho has been my dentist for over a decade. His work is thorough and swift, he does not suggest unnecessary work like many other dentists do, and he's super nice, kind and very accommodating. I once mentioned to him that I was collecting goods to take with me on a humanitarian trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Not only was he genuinely interested in the work I was doing but he immediately volunteered to donate a generous quantity of toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss. As if that weren't generous enough, he proceeded to enlist some of his colleagues to do the same. He did this two years in a row, voluntarily, and I have no doubt he'd do it a third time if I go back to Congo. In addition to his dental practice, Dr. Ho also teaches at elite schools, and really emphasizes the privilege and noble spirit of service with his students. I have never seen him in a classroom setting, but as I've gotten to know him over the years, I'm sure his students find him inspirational. I've known him for over ten years and have recommended him to family and friends without hesitation. He is someone who loves what he does, cares about people and takes seriously his status as a role model for other dentists. He is hands-down the best dentist I've ever had. If you are looking for a new dentist and able to schedule an appointment with him, I urge you to grab it! I was very hesitant to leave my current dentist, but when you commute to Napa for appoints that are only during the week, until 3pm, it all of a sudden becomes a hassle. I found Dr. Ho through my insurance provider first, then found some reviews about him on yelp. He is amazing. I am very picky when it comes to my dentists, and he did a great job. His office is small and very personal. He is the first Dr. whom I have been to that does their own cleaning, no dental hygienist to do the work for him. He was also the one to call and remind me about my appointment. He is up to date with the industry, given that he has taught for the last 17 years at the dental school at USF. Over all great experience. He has appoints on Saturday, which is amazing in its self, and was a very warm nice individual. I have had Dr. Ho as my dentist since 1998. He is the nicest man, and honest and caring. He has done all manner of dental work for me including crowns, cavities and cleaning my teeth. With Dr. Ho I feel complete trust and he has never steered me wrong. I recently moved to Oakland from San Francisco, but I still use Dr. Ho. I more than highly recommend him. I'm thankful for Dr. Ho helping me across the country to get a dental care although we never met in person. I want to tell you a beautiful story about power of communication and networking. I called Dr. Ho office in desperation to schedule an appointment to fix a big filling falling out, leaving me with sharp tooth edges and chewing on on side. After couple unsuccessful attempts to find honest and reasonable specialist in hometown Nashville, TN I decided to try finding a dentist in San Francisco, where I planned to go for a week. Dr. Ho called me personally after his office hours, patiently listened to my problem and honestly advised to find a specialist in Nashville. I told him that I hadn't been seeing dentist for a while and doesn't know anyone here who would consider an income of full time graduate student. His respond to my problem went way over my best hopes. He asked me to reach out to his student, Dr. Poppy Blaseio who moved to Nashville not so long ago and ask her for recommendations. I was hesitant to call, because it felt awkward, but after Dr. Ho called to check on me the next day, I had no more doubts that a student of such doctor is trustworthy. I called Dr. Blaseio and she was as empathetic as her teacher. She recommend me to the specialist, Dr. Mark Whitefield, who happen to have an office across the street from my home. I reached out to him and voilà - I had it all fixed on Sat morning within 2 hrs! A problem I couldn't solve in a last 3 months was solved in 3 days with help of Dr. Ho across the country. Dr. Robert Ho is TRULY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have not been particularly great about flossing over my first 25 years of life, and literally after 1 or 2 visits with Dr. Ho... he GOT ME TO FLOSS. You can't imagine how many years I've gone without being a flosser and through his amazing dental skill and inspiring nature, he actually got me to floss, and now I do it all the time. Unbelievable!!! He is a Professor of Dentistry, as well as being a truly fantastic, wonderful, inspiring, kind, awesome person. When I go for a cleaning I am always sad afterwards because it will be another 6 months before I can hang out with Dr. Ho again. He has many patients but is so very nice and somehow remembers everything you chat about every time! The next time you visit, he'll pick up the conversation from where you left off... like an old friend! You honestly have never had a dentist like this ever before. When he is accepting new patients, I urge you to make the trip out to the Richmond District and come to his practice. He is a miracle worker. read more

Last year I wrote the review below and when coming to write another review after my appointment today, I discovered it didn't go through for some reason or another. Oops! In any case my experience today warrants another stellar review so I'll include both as Dr. Ho deserves nothing less. It's now been 3 years of going to Dr. Ho for my dental work and I must say it keeps getting better and better. Today I got 3 cavities filled that sat in between 2 molars.. Yikes right? Not with Dr. Ho! He used a new technique of applying the anesthetics that didn't require those painful syringes and I didn't feel a thing. Best of all, I could still eat right after without including my cheeks in my meal. I mention this only because it goes to show that Dr. Ho is always trying to improve the experience for his customers and that he genuinely cares for their comfort. Going to the dentist has always been a bad experience for me before, but I don't mind at all now. I always learn something new and leave with my teeth looking right! "I've been going to Dr. Ho for nearly 2 years now and my experience with him has been nothing but pleasant. Sure going to the dentist isn't on my top things to so over the weekend, but Dr. Ho keeps the procedure both quick, painless, and believe it or not, fun! He explains what he's doing while he's working and makes me feel like I'm doing the procedure with him. He's helped me with procedures both big and small and does a thorough job every time. Dr. Ho is the best dentist I have ever used. I echo every single other yelp review below and the issues they pointed out. Dr. Ho does not up-sell on unneeded procedures, he is upfront and clear, and his dentistry work is done with professionalism that is sorely lacking in today's world. He doesn't do his best, he does whats best for his clients. He is keen on not inflicting pain and making the patient feel at ease both in the office and after work has been completed. I had four small fillings done and left in under 45 minutes from a procedure that was completely noninvasive with no drilling. The one huge distinguishing factor I want to call out, is Dr. Ho is very accepting of the vegan & vegetarian lifestyle. Having gone to numerous doctors/dentists for things during my life as a vegan, I am normally lectured about how I am supposedly depriving my body of protein, calcium, and other nutrients. Dr. Ho is the complete opposite. He celebrates and supports vegans and vegetarians in their dietary choices. This is a huge plus for me and my wife. I will be going to Dr. Ho for as long as I can. To say Dr. Ho is fantasitic would be an understatment. He came highly recommended by my sister who is a recent UOP Arthur D. Dugoni School of Dentistry graduate where Dr. Ho is part of the faculty. Dr Ho. was open, honest and very caring when it came to my treatment and his office has amazing technology. The process to numb my tooth was virtually painfree with practically no side effiects afterward (numbness in my cheeks/lips/half of my face are a thing of the past!). My husband and I both went to Dr. Ho recently to have check ups. He got us both in within a week of when I first called. He did the cleaning and check up on the same visit, which was nice. I hate when they make you come twice! I turned out I needed five fillings! I was shocked but Dr. Ho managed to do all the fillings in one visit and it only cost me $140.00 after my insurance was applied. I was happy with the results. He seems to be accepting new patients so if you need a new dentist, especially if you live in the Richmond, I highly recommend. read more
