The landscaping is so nice and the private parking lot is labeled so well. They have marked spaces for volunteers and adopters, it makes you feel good to pull up and look inside. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The kennels are clean an roomy compared to other shelters I have visited. I wish the color of paint on the wall was brighter. Gray is a downer on cement walls and the walk to the kennels is gloomy. Going back soon to visit my potential buddy.

We turned to this humane society because of an ad posted on a website finder of a specific dog. The…read moredog we had adopted from them was older and we had been under the impression that he was in pristine health. (After them giving us a run down of medical history, which wasn't a lot- but them giving us verbal confirmation multiple times that he was healthy, neutered, etc. We also asked more than once to confirm so. ) We had been under the impression nothing was wrong with him. We signed the papers and brought him home. He fit in wonderfully with our family. A little over a week into owning him I took him to the vet and within few minutes of the vet doing a SIMPLE look over, (the same look over any dog is supposed to get when brought to the vet for the first time) she managed to tell me 4 things wrong that were life threatening, 6 in general. I would need to spend 6k, which was JUST the starting price in order to assist these issues. All diseases/physical disorders/potential cancerous tumors were developed well before we brought him into our home. On top of all that, because of all the issues he had, even with the surgeries he would not have a much longer life span. I ended up spending $450 to get him the shots he needed & blood work done and had various other appointments scheduled. Unfortunately, I had to bring the dog back. I completely understand that non-profit organizations, shelters, etc, do the best they can to provide for each animal in their care. Having volunteered at shelters previously and just knowing people in the industry-- within the first few days of receiving the animal they are brought to a vet to be examined. Their goal is to test for heart worms, give the rabies shot, and spay/neuter the animal. However, before ANY of these procedures are done to the animal they examine them. There is no reason that we shouldn't have been informed about these conditions. It was highly,- no. EXTREMELY unprofessional for them to adopt out a dog without telling us the truth about his condition. After grilling them, I was refunded the basic adoption fee. Though, it didn't make anything much better. Im out $500+ and my family & I grew attached to the dog. Also, the receptionist had been very standoffish to us, which from reading other reviews, isn't much of a shocker. All my family & I wanted was to give an animal their forever home and this place turns out to not be the place to go. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! My family nor I will never be associated with them in the future. I would give them negative stars if I could.

I had a great experience with Animal Eye Care today. My cat was having a major issue with her eye,…read moreso I took her to her normal vet and when they didn't understand the problem, they called Animal Eye Care to refer me. My cat's situation was precarious and Animal Eye Care opened up a spot right away for her to be seen. Dr. Gift had fantastic bedside manner and talk to me through the problem, solutions, and possible outcomes patiently and with the perfect amount of detail. It's obvious he's very experienced and technical, but he got me the information in a simple way that helped me make a quick decision. He was honest with me and didn't over promise unrealistic results. Due to the nature of the business, it's not necessarily one you want to be a repeat customer at, but it really was as professional and supportive as they could make it. It also wasn't quite as expensive as I thought it might be with such niche expertise (but no promises)!

My husband wanted her regardless and she has proven to be a wonderful addition to our household. She definitely needed some TLC at first and we had to navigate some bad behavior, but she is the best! Cats are different from dogs and sometimes people shouldn't own them due to their individual personalities and needs. Understanding that this is a "thing" with cats is very important. She is now our sweet, floofy girl, who has a DEFINITE personality and we respect that. She is awesome! When we left town we scheduled for three visits a day which still was very sad to us since they're normally always with someone so this was tough but a necessity for us as we were leaving town. This place is great because they have very flexible scheduling for grooming including early and late drop off/pick up hours. The most exciting thing for me as a (furry) pet parent is their grooming membership. If you sign up for it and bring your pet once a month, the cost is Half that of the normal grooming price (for my small guy it's $30/month) that includes his bath, drying, hair cut, nail cut and anal gland expression. My dog seems happy when I pick him up and he can be a nervous pup. They do a great job- they ask for a picture of a cut for your dog and try to match it as close as possible. My dog is typically there for a few hours because I do drop off but they call as soon as your dog is ready and work hard to ensure you're happy with your dogs grooming. I've been going here for 3 months and they're the best all around in VB!
