We had a…read morelist of places that we wanted to try in Epernay, but some of them are closed in Sunday and we had a bit of trouble making reservations due to the language barrier. The style and decor of this place is a bit dated, but I'm not sure if it's old or purposely done that way. When we walked in, it was empty, but it filled up quickly. I think we were pretty much ahead of all the crowds by 30 minutes everywhere we went. You have the option of 4 or 5 courses, cheese course is included with either choice. I think every table we overheard asked about portion sizes and whether they should choose 4 or 5. 4 courses is plenty of food, but you should choose the 5 cause you're in Champagne, so why not. The sauce for my langoustines was a bit too fishy for my taste, but my fish and beef dishes were both really good. And tart for dessert was delicious. The French really know how to do pastries. They don't do wine parings, so we were recommended a bottle and it went very well with the food. We did learn that the champagne that is aged in oak goes better with food. Overall a very good dining experience.

The skin was just crunchy enough.. the fish was tasty and almost buttery. Definitely not disappointed. For dessert we had a chocolate cake to split. Although I wouldn't pick this place for ambiance, I definitely would say it had great food and a nice waiting staff. Will come back if in the area!

Nobody had any real complaints about their main except for me. The steak I had was gristly and not even medium rare, as I had asked for; it was super tough. Basically, I didn't eat it and left it on the table, literally the worst steak I've ever had. The plus is that it's really cool inside. It's an ancient bank; the floor, ceiling, and decor were a bit modern, some light woods, giant marble pillars, and a very different kind of Chandler with fabric. This was the fanciest restaurant we went to the whole time we were in Epernay. It was just OK. I would say a solid three stars. And if you don't speak French, unfortunately, you're not gonna get much help here. Every single store or restaurant we went to in Epernay had people who spoke English. We did not have a hard time, and we were told we were going to this restaurant. They said there was simply no one who spoke English as a server. Still, I have noticed that most European restaurants do not appreciate large groups, just FYI, mainly because most are on the smaller side and cannot accommodate them. I'll keep an eye on this restaurant, see if it gets any better. Clearly, everybody who's gone there has only given them three stars, too. I'll keep you posted! Cheers, my friends SYOY 11/24/25

If you just show up at dinner time, you most likely won't be seated unless it's a very slow night. Rôtisserie Henry IV has a multi level floor plain, with a slight rise to the second level, maybe three steps, but it allows for a lovely overview of the restaurant. The menu is in French, so pull out your translation app, our waitress spoke passable English, which was great, because we spoke passable French. My wife ordered a farm salad with roasted chicken. There was so much chicken in the salad, she couldn't finish it. I decided to try the French version of Barbecue pork ribs with a side of fries. (Don't call them French fries. And don't ask for French Onion soup. You wouldn't order an American hot dog). The ribs weren't exactly Texas bbq, but they were quite good. These were not "fall off the bone". Quite tough to separate with a butter knife. But the glaze and flavor were very good. The only disappointment was the fries. Limp, Lukewarm. McDonald's has nothing to fear. For a packed, high end restaurant (we graduated from Bistro), prices were very reasonable. Service was very attentive. A solid choice if you're in the area.

Yay! I am a fan!…read more Well this place was actually recommended to us by Philippe Brun of Champagne Roger Brun as the place were locals would go to have lunch and I have to say he wasn't wrong! This place is basically a spot to have lunch in the town of Ay. The place basically service local cuisine of roasted meats in various preparations from ribs, to leg of lamb to what I can only assume is some variation on a kebab to roasted ham (amazing) that could be paired with locally produced champagnes from Philliponat, Roger Brun, Billecart-Salmon just to name a few. We were hungry but that doesn't the diminish the quality and quantity of food. I ordered mixed grille and my wife the leg of lamb and some appetizers and everything was amazing. We didn't have any champagne at the restaurant because we were going to the tastings but next time we will.
