It's a really safe place for young children with a large soft play area with soft slides and climbing frames. There's also a small separate bit at the end of the main soft play where younger, smaller or less confident children can play on a smaller scale soft play area. They have some outdoor activity but that is only open during good weather. It's is just over £2 for an hour and a half and is open day times until 4pm. The price is per child. Refreshments are available at a reasonable price although there is only a fairly small selection. They serve hot drinks, cold drinks and cold snacks. You have to give the name of each child as you go in and out. There is only one way out so you know your kids are safe because you can see them. It is suitable for children from toddlers to around age 12.

It's run by a couple and was formerly a family home but has been converted by the husband, who was previously a builder, to a really high standard. There are lots of lovely touches throughout the nursery, including a wooden play shop built into one of the rooms. He's now the chef and prepares all the children's meals fresh each day and the food always smells great. My son eats 2 portions most days! There are two rooms. One for the tiny kids - up to about 2 years of age, and another for those of preschool age. Our son has just moved to the 'bigger kids' side and they have managed the progression really well. He is really happy there and has come along leaps and bounds in terms of his confidence and speech since he started attending. Outside there is a lovely garden for the kids to play in, and it also has a covered area so they can still get fresh air when the weather is bad. There is a little vegetable garden that the kids help out on. The staff are brilliant and really make each day special for the kids. They do activities related to what is happening in the 'real world', so things such as Easter, Diwali, Mothers Day, etc, are all observed and catered for. We couldn't be happier with the place and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it with 5 stars.

To be honest, I'm sometimes a little jealous that kids get all the fun. I could easily hang out in Soft Play myself all day - if I didn't think I'd get some seriously suspicious looks... Apparently it gets a bit nuts here in the school holidays, but when there's a bit more space, the kids have a whale of a time. It's small enough that parents can sit on the big leather sofas and have a natter while the kids can play within sight/ earshot, so everyone's a winner. It's also cheaper than Hickory Dickory in Kings Heath.

Quite fast moving to keep the babies/toddlers attention and just the right length of time. There are 2 facilitators so there is no time for them wandering as there'e lots of help on hand. I had never heard of the community centre before, but I was keen to try out their facilities. The yoga classes went very well; I found yoga to be a very relaxing method of meditation and exercise. The facilities at the community centre were very good; the rooms were spacious and the floor was clean. I couldn't find any showering facilities, but that was not a problem because I live close by and could shower at home. I have been to a few events at Kings Heath Community Centre. In typical council community centre…read morefashion it has quite a boring exterior and interior for that matter, it is by no measure the most inspiring building I have ever looked at. However it seems to host a lot of events, I have been to a few there and I suppose they turn this otherwise boring centre into a valuable resource for the local community - that is essentially what it does, it's not supposed to appear pretty. It is a purely functional building that gives a space to members of the local community who need a space for an event, whatever that event may be.

My only memory of Pype Hayes park as a child, was slipping through fences in November in order to…read moreget to the fun fair, or going to bonfires there when I was little. As an adult, I'd never been until last summer when one day, en-route to Sutton Park, and with time not in my favour, I decided to try it out. There's a good sized car park, and, in the summer months, a portaloo as well as a regular ice-scream van, serving the families who go there to use the modern and enclosed play area right by the car park. There are picnic benches under the trees, and so there's plenty on offer for families who want an afternoon out. As a dog person, it's a haven! There is a great circular walk that takes you through the park along a good footpath, and offers dogs a huge amount of field to run around on, play, sniff bums, wag tails and pee on each other, as dogs do! The walk then leads you (depending on which direction you go) down and along Plants Brook, a peaceful stretch of the walk that is possible three quarters of a mile if you walk to the perimeter of the park. In the spring time, there are long stretches where wildflowers bloom with vivid reds, blues and yellows. You may also get lucky and see the resident Heron in flight. Turning back up across more open land will bring you along to a small lake where there are often fishermen focussed upon their catch, and ducks, geese and swans swim about, keeping eager eyes open for crusts of bread. Back towards the car park and by the house which is (I believe) used as local council offices, there is also a cultivated garden which is very pretty in the summer (dogs on leads in there please!). There are many options of walk, though if it's been wet for a while, you are restricted to the path unless you wear willies or like being ankle deep in thick dark goo. Everyone is very friendly, and if you're a dog owner, it's a great place to socialise you four legged friend!

To the west of the gardens is a fish pond which is also a duck pond with a duck island, many species of water birds can be found there, notably Mallard ducks, Canada geese and frequently a pair of resident mute swan. There is also a play area. The park contains a number of ornamental gardens, with many bedding areas. It is also the location for an annual bonfire carnival. Each year, Birmingham City Council organises an official firework display on or around the 5th November, admission is free. The park is also the site of the ward's millennium woodland. There is a very strong and active friends group and the buildings in the park are grade II listed.

The soft play area for the toddlers is brilliant as it is spacious and you can see them from anywhere you stand/sit in the cafe area. There is a ball pit and 2 little toddler slides. There is also a much bigger softplay area for the over 5's and a football enclosure. I don't rate the food as it is mainly junk...everything in breadcrumbs and chips and the fruit selection is always very scarce. It would be nice to see yoghurts or 100% fish/chicken goujons or a nice childs bolognase. The moms coffee morning on a Tuesday 10.30am during term time is great as there is free entry, it does get very busy though. One big bonus is free parking all day at the fort and the location is close to the many other retail shops the fort has to offer.
