For the littlies, there isn't a huge amount, but there is a very deep ball pool and a few giant wobble-men to play with. Theoretically this is in a dedicated 'toddler area', but in practice it's hard to keep the bigger kids away, especially when they are all hyped up! This means you are better off taking little kids here while school is on if you can. Meanwhile, there are plenty of sofas and tables for mums and a little coffee shop, claiming to sell the best coffee in Leamington. I'm not sure that's true, but it's good enough. My son will love this place in a few years, for now it is somewhere handy to keep in mind on rainy days.

Many of the displays in the Pump Rooms are interactive and there is a lot of visual and textual information. I would say that this kind of place would appeal to all sorts of different people, whether you like to interact or whether you prefer to just look at things, there is something there which will be of interest.My 6 year old particularly enjoyed the listening posts as well as the kid's area..The other thing which is good is that there is so much in one building. Art gallery, museum, library. There is also a small cafe and tourist information centre in the same building. The cafe is not too bad. I think it's a little over-priced, often crowded and doesn't offer a particularly wide choice.It's also free to get in which is always good!The one thing which disappointed me was that, when I looked for souvenirs in the tourist information centre, they were very over-priced and the prices weren't clearly displayed which meant that I had to tell my son he couldn't have something which I'd said he could have because it was a lot more expensive than we thought it was.Apart from that, though, the rest of the place is nice. Just don't buy anything from the tourist information centre!

However it is not just living in the past. With an extensive permanent art collection including a Lowry the gallery is a must for art lovers. There is also a temporary art collection with different shows on lasting for about three months. One of the most popular of these was the Open which allowed members of the public to submit their work in a competition witht he best best being displayed. Not only does the pump room cater to art lovers but it has lots of craft workshops for young children and adults and an interactive gallery for children to play in.

Government funded, a lot of what is on offer here is free or heavily subsidised. They run a range of groups, some of which you need to be invited to join, others are drop in for anybody. They also have an allotment and sell off the produce in a community vegetable scheme, which offers you fresh, local veggies at a very low price - you do have to order on a certain day and collect on another though. The centre is purpose built, having a large airy entrance foyer, a creche full of toys, books and art materials, a large hall and a couple of other small meeting rooms.

On arrival this time round there was a woman doing samples of sausages outside the farm shop (the bologonese sausage was delicious). We headed to the antiques shop and picked up three lovely items, of which we managed to haggle a discount and the man helped load things into the car. I have it on good authority the cafe there is lovely, as it's the place my mum stops for lunch on her cycling, and so will be back to try it soon.

On the…read moreother hand, their facilities for little children is not so good - my son took himself out of the toddler zone and for a wander round the sofas instead. There is a rope ladder and slide combination but they will still need to be big enough to use these before there is anything much for them to do. For older kids, the facilities look great, and given how busy it was at 10am on a weekday, it seems pre-schoolers have a lot of fun.

Parents are sat out side the thatched roofed cafe with pots of teas, while children gleefully hop over the stream absently-mindedly letting ice cream cones drip their contents over their bare arms. We just about make the curfew for the Golden Putter crazy golf, which is the purpose of this post-shopping visit. There are a full state-of-the-art 18 holes to play, each one getting progressively harder. My memory of crazy golf is of playing on cracked concrete surfaces, but here your ball will glide over all-weather baize, that gives a realistic green putting experience. There are obstacles, slopes, a version of bunkers to tackle and walls to bounce your ball off, and the experience is kind of like a cross between putting and pool. It's very, very, fun, and at around £3.50 a person you'll get a full hour of casual competitiveness for the price of a pint. If you want a more rough and ready retro crazy golf experience there is an older more ramshackle course as you enter the park, (clubs hired from the cafe.) Ace.

Facilities include a sport centre/swimming pool, astroturf pitch and tennis courts. Bike ramps and an off road bike track, play rea with modern swings and things, paddling pool, paid for rides, boat hire on the River avon, mini golf and bowls (probably more but that's not bad going). Having Worked as a nursery nurse…read morefor 7 years and an NVQ childcare Assessor for 5, I have seen almost every single kids activity place in Coventry, so when a new one pops up I had to check it out! I think its been open about a year now. I went armed with my sister, her 3 year old and her 4 month old. All I can say is how impressed I was. They have a secured gate to let people in and out. Its massive, not like the rest of them, the seating area for the parents is clean, plenty of space and plenty of seats to choose from, including sofa's. There are different areas as usual for different aged children but you're not 'told off' if your child decides they are old enough for the bigger area. One bit has the 'coupe' cars going round it like a circuit, there is also a part to play basket ball. Definately enough to keep the children entertained. They also have a cafe, which is reasonably priced, they have a range of hot and cold food for adults and children, including chips and jacket potatoes, the food is nice and cooked on site. They have socks you can buy incase your children are not wearing them! My Nephew loved it (the 3 year old) we actually spent 4 hours there! There is a small padded area for babies and my other nephew got to lie next to another and smile! They have baby gyms available to them. My advice for parents of children not yet in school is to go in term time, they can play for as long as they want and its very quiet, completely different story in half term its chaos! Overall it was clean and bright, definately worth the trek up there.
