We've been to Dublin Wave and Larkey Swim Center but I think San Ramon Aquatic Park takes the cake: 1. Low entry fee of $8/pp. Big, clean family room for changing along with showers. 2. The main splash pad is a sight to behold. They have this gigantic bucket that gets filled with water pumped from the main pool. It rocks back and forth like a slow bell, signaling impeding doom. Eventually, the bucket tips over and drenched everything and everyone below. It never gets old watching this. 3. They have separate pools for diving, lap swimming, and one with a gigantic inflatable structure that looks like an obstacle course from American Ninja, only above a big pool. As for minor downsides: 1. Limited places to sit around the perimeter. Its crowded here and many folks set out blankets for picnics. 2 Despite a pretty big parking lot, it does get busy so you may need to park a bit farther.

The parking signs were a little confusing because they say "pool permit parking only," but I later found out that this only applies on weekdays. $8 admission is a pretty good deal, although there's an additional service fee when paying by credit card. The front desk didn't mention the fee, and I only noticed it after reading a sign off to the side of the desk. The changing room was clean and tidy, with hot showers and plenty of lockers. There aren't individual changing stalls, though, and the bathroom is located inside the changing room. The kids' pool is probably the highlight. It's very shallow and perfect for little kids, with water slides, a play structure, and a big bucket that fills up and dumps water over everyone. The kids had a lot of fun waiting for it. The main pool has a dedicated lap-swimming section and a shallower area around 4 feet deep where people can hang out. The deep end has an inflatable obstacle course that looks like an American Ninja Warrior-style setup, along with diving boards at different heights. My biggest issue was the very strict lifeguard monitoring. They were watching the pool extremely closely, with whistles ready to go at any moment. During our three-hour visit, I saw multiple parents and kids being spoken to by lifeguards. I was also approached for having a small child on my back in the shallow section. I was standing comfortably in the water, but I was told not to carry the child that way. What confused me was that I was allowed to carry the same child in front of me, but not on my back. I understand the lifeguards have to enforce safety rules, but I wasn't clear on the difference or what additional safety concern the back carry presented. Overall, I appreciate having lifeguards who are attentive and focused on safety, especially with so many kids around. However, during our visit, it sometimes felt like I was being watched the entire time and had to walk on eggshells. The facilities are clean, the kids' pool is fun, there's plenty to do, and $8 is a reasonable price. Would I come back? Maybe 50/50. It's a good community pool, but the very strict enforcement made the experience a little less relaxing for me. ‍

The Del Amigo Dolphins swim team is led by Coach Janet, an amazing woman who has the ability to connect with youth of all ages. Del Amigo is a great experience for the entire family!

There's a new lap swim thing this year without the guards that starts at 6am, but I've never tried it. The kids working here are pretty courteous with opening the gate for you when you both come and go. They pretty much just let anybody in if someone is manning/womaning the gate. So, the security ain't that tight. People just leave their bikes unlocked outside too. I keep eyeing this one pretty cruiser...All in all I'm a fan of this pool even though it is only open in the summer (roughly end of May through end of September). They keep it nice and heated and fairly clean. My only beef is with the no balls rule. Some guards say only soft balls (squishie ones), some allow tennis balls during slow/uncrowded hours. But tonight, I was so excited to blow up my new beach ball and play with my adult family members. They said I couldn't have it because it obstructed the guard's views....uh...my little beach ball? So, I said "How about during rest period then (every 45 minutes on the hour the kiddos have to vacate the pool for 15 minutes while the guards take a break)?" The guard said "no" when the guards don't even watch the pool during rest period. So, what view am I obstructing? I was so ticked off I left to write this review. That was an hour ago...I'm still steamed. Back in the swim bag my new beach ball goes for another time....

We have been members for the last year, and my girls (9,7,5) love going. They are treated with incredible love and respect by all the members and there are currently several families with kids, ranging from 5-14 years old. Yes, it's naked. Yes, you will see naked people. Yes, you will be naked! Kids under 18 do not have to be naked if they don't want to, but adults are expected to be clothes-free most of the time. Let me tell you why Sequoians is walking the walk on inclusivity, and why it isn't creepy. 1) Creepiness is gross and bad for all ages; sexualizing kids is wrong, full stop. 2) Creepiness is bad for business! Getting accused of improper activities is bad for business! Sequoians, and nudists in general, have a vested interest in keeping their spaces safe for everyone. 3) Inclusivity is more fun! More people can be included and feel safe, and that feels good. Therefore: Sequoians makes a big deal of vetting potential members, and everyone is educated about body positivity and etiquette. You see consent engagements in real life, in terms of playing with the kids, hanging out in shared spaces, keeping spaces clean, and working together for the benefit of everyone. We have only been to 8 classes the past 1.5 months, they terminated my kid's lessons due to safety reasons with no prior warnings what-so-ever. They said he runs around the pool (this has improved), he jumps on chairs (well, he stims, as many other ASD kiddies do) which I correct him every time and keep close eye on him at all times, he runs in the parking lot, this happened one time, and I watch him as he runs to the waiting area and there is no moving cars around. During the last class, in last 5 minutes, he was just done and wanted to get out, out of frustration he smacked her (instructor) in the face and head butted her. I was horrified because this is truly out of character and I apologized to her, she responded "it's not my first rodeo.' I was completely caught off guard when the owner called me to terminate our lessons with no prior warnings or if he does this again, we will have to terminate 2 days before the next lesson. I know autistic kiddos can be difficult at times, but don't preach what you don't practice. They could have told me that the head butting cannot happen again and I would 100% understand because I agree, this cannot happen again. I do not appreciate the lack of communication here. While my child did not behave perfectly, it would be nice to get a warning which you did once regarding running around the pool that I have corrected since the conversation. This is NOT how you do business. I highly against recommending enrolling your kids there - it is unprofessional and rude and I am deeply offended by their action. Again, DO NOT PREACH WHAT YOU DON'T PRACTICE. Thankfully, Camille and Tania were great, otherwise, this place is highly unprofessional.
