My little family had a nice time staying at Sycamore Ranch. We originally planned staying by Lake Orville and that did not work out for us. As we scrambled to find a new place to camp for the weekend we found Sycamore Ranch & their real time reservation portal was a huge help! Overall the campgrounds were very clean and kept up. Many other family in RV & tents were staying here as well. The site does have showers and bathrooms a small walk up from the campsites & porta potties closer to the sites. The groundskeeper was so nice & answered all our questions. Overall we are happy we found this place. read more

Overall, we had a good experience at Sycamore Ranch. We reserved 3 nights and two full days at the camp. We were a large, Christian group. We reserved both sections A & B the week before school started so the camp was very quiet. We didn't use the campground bathrooms. Instead, we rented a Two-Station Restroom/Shower from thelavatory.com out of Fresno which was perfect for our group. We had bright signs on it to ensure only folks from our camp used them. As for the park itself, the only complaint I had was the lack of cleanliness of the picnic tables. We setup a main area for our group which included a group of four picnic tables. We scrubbed them with lots of dish soap and hosed them down with water, including the cement underneath the tables. We did that at least three times. The picnic tables are porous so a lot of dirt came out. It would be nice if they maintained the park and power-washed the tables and concrete periodically. We also had yellow jackets and fleas... and fleas that followed some of us home. So be aware and prepare for that. Other than that, we had a good experience. "Jan the Man" was very pleasant and helpful. He even complimented our group and invited us back. He said we were easy, and we made the place classy. Haha! It just goes to show that it's not the park, but the people that gets low stars. We were told quiet hours were from 10PM to 7AM. We were respectful and did what was expected. Nights were quiet, except the sound of crickets then roosters in the morning. read more

I swore that I would never camp at sycamore ranch again after the last experience I had, but my friends at Yuba county told me that they just recently hired a new caretaker and cleaned out all the riff raff. So I gave it another chance, and omg! It was a total turn around. This past weekend was so relaxing and quiet. The day use, campgrounds, bathrooms, and showers were the cleanest they ever been. " Jan the man" was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He's is doing an outstanding job, just what Sycamore needed. My faith has been restored, I look forward to many more weekend getaways to Sycamore ranch in the future. read more

I've been debating posting this review...but I think it needs to happen. We went twice to this campground. First time was in April and we had a wonderful experienc, decided to come back for Mother's Day. Well Mother's Day weekend was terrible. Our campsite was surrounded by meth addicts who were working on their cars, revving engines, getting into screaming fights all hours of the night and into the early hours of the mornings. The camp host seamed to be letting his friends come and take any site that wasn't currently occupied....regardless if they were reserved. We witnessed several times of this, including a site that was next to ours that was reserved by some family members that were arriving late (we had to stop at least 3 different attempts to steal the site). It's a shame because it is a nice park, but we won't be returning or recommending to anyone. read more

Very nice little county campground. The caretakers take great care of this place. We've been twice in the summer, once in the fall. In the summer, the caretakers have some fun activities for the kids like scavenger hunts and sprinklers to run through. Fall is beautiful. Bathrooms are clean enough. Free, warm showers. Lots of birds, fun fishing and no pests -- never seen a raccoon! Only downfalls are you can hear road traffic at night, dirt bikes -- even at 3am, and because there is no locked gate, sometimes people (not campers) cruise through here late at night. Also wish it was a no smoking park. Overall though, we love this little campground! Tip: if fishing the Yuba by raft/boat, the caretakers will do a shuttle for you for a fee. read more

Our group uses this campground on the average of three times per year. We have had many years of great experiences. About three to four years ago, a new caretaker was hired. What a mistake they made...after we wrote to the county about the horrible management of the campground, the county hired a new caretaker. What an amazing man. Jan is there to enforce campground rules and to make your stay pleasurable. Also, if you have not met Wind Walker, he care takes Hammond Grove, he frequently rides over to help Jan, he is an amazing person to enlighten you on several issues. It is a great pleasure to know these two, they make a great team. I know you would enjoy camping with your family at this charming campground. read more

I would NOT recommend this for POC or LGBTQIA folks or for use during the weekend. There was a confederate flag hanging by the entrance and we were called "F$@#ing Libtards". The camp hosts would not help at all when people blasted music past curfew and had screaming drunken arguments past midnight with profanity and extremely explicit content. During the week that mostly cleared out, but the confederate flag remained. The site itself was pretty and bathrooms were clean. There's a creek right by the site that is murky with algae on one side but the other side of the floating bridge is clear if you want to jump in. If you walk down a short path there is a day use area where the creek meets the Yuba River with a nice rope swing. Across the floating bridge you can get to the Yuba River which is much, much colder. There isn't any good beach area with shallow water for young kids to play but fun for older kids and floating. People left lots of trash around, even a dirty sanitary napkin and broken bottles. During the weekend it was packed and horrible since they are now booking at max capacity despite Covid-19. During the week with fewer people it was much more pleasant. It was still hard to maintain social distancing if you want to use the floating bridge for swimming and no one wore masks. read more

Not a bad place but I do wish they would regulate more on keeping dogs on a leash. It is a rule at this park but hardly anyone abides by it and dogs run loose all over. That is my only complaint. read more

This place is a great campground not too far off the beaten path. Shade everywhere which helps endure the hot summers. Fishing and swimming with a rope swing and floating bridge you can jump off of. The water is much warmer and safer than farther up river. We brought 5 kids with us who had a fantastic time befriending other kids in the park and swimming all day/night. Caretakers are super kind, constantly on the stroll, cleaning up trash and willing to help out with their knowledge of the local area. We traveled with a camper trailer and had no problems with the hook ups. Free dump station available for campers is a big plus. Can't say enough about the great time we had with our family! read more

Looks like a nice place. Might be nicer when less people are here on weekdays. Very loud. Music playing until late hours of the night. Camp host is no help at enforcing quiet hours. Bathrooms are sani huts basically. They were completely full on our visit and disgustingly dirty. Has basically a pond that flows past the campground. Water has lots algae. Dumpsters were full and overflowing. Overall would not recommend. Any other spot is probably better than this one. read more

Great little place to camp if fishing the Lower Yuba River. This is where many floating anglers take out. There is also a nice day use area with ample parking, very nice grassy picnic areas. Through the campground area one can walk in to the creek. While I have not camped here, there is a lot of nice trees in the camp area keeping most spots fairly shady, which is key in this part of California. read more

For the last 2 1/2 years we've had our family pictures taken there. The whole entire area is gorgeous. We've never camped there, but I've heard great experiences from friends. I love the colors in the spring and fall, always beautiful. Tomorrow will be our 3rd. time taking family photos, and I can't wait. Bathrooms were dirty most of the time. There is a a wedding in a more secluded area of the park going on as I type this. It is 10:30pm and the music is too loud to sleep. If we must keep quiet hours, you'd think the wedding would also have to abide by them. It was a decent spot for camping and the kids can get around pretty good. It could stand to be cleaned up a bit. We camp here every Memorial weekend with a group, this year we are only using group B, last year we had B & C, year before just B with a few extra sites, year before just B. It's a great facility for the cost, we have had electrical issues and they fixed them immediately, it's nice the bathrooms are free (especially considering the cost of the sites), it isn't a Class A facility, but for a weekend getaway it is a great place to go. We will continue to go every year until there isn't enough left in our group to justify it. read more

We just spent Memorial day 2016 at Sycamore Ranch in Yuba County CA. We had a group of 42 people in the group A campsite area. Group A site was a very nice area, big enough for 5 RV's and 5 tents. We enjoyed the shade on this group site as it was a hot weekend. We also enjoyed that each site had water and electricity. It is set at the end of the campground so it felt secluded with plenty of room for the kids to ride their bikes and scooters around. We liked the three big tables and the huge fire pit. The group site was clean. The things we didn't like were the creek beside the campsite, it was still water, dirty and full of mosquitoes. There is only one bathroom for the entire campground with 2 toilets and 2 showers for each gender. One toilet was blocked up most of the weekend in the ladies. It ran out of toilet paper as well. The bathrooms were closed a few times because of plumbing issues. The showers are free but there is no where to hang your stuff in the shower block. They put 2 portable toilets around the campground, they needed a lot more of these for a holiday weekend and after a couple of hot days they were disgusting. The volleyball court consists of two poles and a piece of string across- like a big clothes line! The biggest downfall of this campground is there is no beach access to the river for safe swimming. The day access area is nice but there is no safe swimming area and the water there is disgusting brown and full of mosquitoes. We had to drive 1/2 hour to South Yuba State Park to swim in clear clean water. It costs $700 for the group A site for 3 nights. We have been to better maintained campgrounds, we will not be coming back. read more
