The owner, Scott, went above and beyond--he was kind, welcoming, and truly hands-on the entire time. You could tell he cares deeply about the skating community and worked nonstop to make sure everything ran smoothly. The facility was clean, well-run, and had great energy. My daughter and I had a wonderful time meeting skaters and families from all over the Northeast, and the sense of community was something really special. They seemed mainly for the kids, but they were helpful none the less and made my experience much enjoyable! I got to zip through the rink even though I didn't know how to skate properly. It was a Wednesday around 5pm, so the sun had already set. With the surrounding buildings and Christmas tree lighting up the area, this place makes a really great date night. Rentals are only $4 and the rink is free. It's open until March 11, 2018, so get your skating in! The only issue I had was that they didn't resurface the rink the whole 2 hours I was there which made it difficult to skate at some point. This is an amazing place, and I hope they fix that blip.

It was a little small and doesn't get Zamboni enough for the amount of carving on the ice, I suggest go early in the morning or right at 4pm when it got Zamboni at 3pm... 1pm was a terrible time to go since it was the worst, super rough. My first pair of skates were dull and I thought my skating skills went downhill but after a few laps I exchanged it for a better pair that were smooth on the ice.

There are 2 rinks - one is Olympic; the other is NHL-sized…read more Weibel is the larger rink on the left (when standing in the parking lot looking at both buildings). There's a snack shop, a few arcade games, some tables, benches and a skate rental area. Locker rooms are spacious and not terrible. Bathrooms are usually pretty clean. There's a separate area with a Boxing gym that has odd hours; I haven't been able to crack the code on that particular business...but the Boxing club is attached to the Weibel building. Vernon - the smaller rink on the right - is more bare bones. There are bleacher seats for spectators, four locker rooms and a couple of public bathrooms. The locker rooms in Vernon are smaller...but again...not awful. Showers in the locker rooms vary in Vernon. Sometimes there's hot water and decent pressure....sometimes not. The ice depends on the day and the zamboni driver. At the beginning of the season, the ice is amazing. This past weekend, it had lots of rivets and ponds. But compared to other rinks in the region, it's still a nice facility. They have open skate, stick and puck along with lots of local teams practicing and competing. There's plenty of parking and the rinks are conveniently located right between the big box stores of Wilton and downtown Saratoga Springs.

For tubing, you purchase a ticket for a 2 hour block. They offer a lodge area with picnic bench style seating and have live music. They also have a full service bar area serving up adult beverages in addition to some hot chocolate and coffee. There's an outdoor seating area with adirondack chairs and fire pits if you're into taking a break or just kicking back and relaxing. Staff is helpful and friendly. On a Saturday, snow tubing tickets were $33, which is about on par with other tubing places in the area.

Capital Arena features two NHL-size ice rinks and offers year-round skating activities. Public skating times are available Saturday and Sunday between 2 and 4 pm. I've watched Union play several times and it's a great little arena. Locker rooms are upstairs and downstairs... and are usually in good condition. The one upstairs is huge. Parking can be challenging on campus sometimes...so give yourself lots of time to find a spot.
