Foothills Tennis & Swimming Club - cushy quarters inside the club house

Played a men's USTA league match the other day right at Foothills Tennis & Swimming Club. Arrived 45 minutes before the 11am match. Huge parking lot, surrounded by 10 foot hedge of trees blocking out any view of busy Foothill expressway. 7 lighted tennis courts, with benches and giant drinking jugs, with paper cups. Hopefully replenished daily! Nearby, a 75 foot swimming pool, suitable for lap swimming and swim contests. Beautiful clubhouse with plush sitting chairs for enjoying that drink after a hard fought tennis match. Went to the bathroom, opened the door, and a row of gleaming stalls over a spotless baby blue floor surface. Thought I had entered the ladies bathroom, and quickly hurried out, checking the sign on the door. No lady screaming, so I guess this is the right place. Exercise room and locker room for changing and taking showers. Very elaborate tiled shower room more suitable for a mansion. Tennis courts are blue and super fast. Built correctly facing north and south, but with no partitions between the courts. A ball could roll over three contiguous courts. Separate benches for each doubles team to sit on. At least one player is 80, and still has wheels for moving on that court. Another player makes me look thin, and I'm on the obese side! But he gets everything back that he can reach, and anticipates every shot you make. 90 minutes later, sweat running down my eyes, partially closed with stinging sun lotion from rubbing my hands over my forehead, I trudge off the court, and enjoy refreshments of Costco sandwiches and soda and beer with the locals. If you want the fancier food you got to play on a mixed doubles team with a woman captain! Was about to take a shower in the men's room, but there's a note that only members may shower. Got to trudge back to the oven like temperatures in the car, on this 82 degree March day, and stew in my own BO. There goes the new car smell in my 2017 Civic! $800 a quarter in maintenance fees. About on par with the other private tennis clubs in exclusive Palo Alto, where the median house price exceeds $3 million. But best high schools academically in California. If you have a spouse and 3 kids who swim and play tennis , you can get what you pay for.

She needed help learning the basics and understanding pool safety. Reza was incredibly patient and knew exactly how to move at her pace, gradually building her confidence and helping her feel comfortable and secure in the water. My older daughter, who loves the water and swimming, needed to improve her form, and the progress she made over the summer was remarkable. Her technique has improved dramatically thanks to Reza's expert instruction, attention to detail, and encouraging coaching style. Reza is patient, professional, knowledgeable, and wonderful with children. We could not be happier with the experience and would wholeheartedly recommend him to any family looking for an outstanding private swim coach.

He turned my child into someone who cried, kicking and screaming, not wanting to go to lessons into a child who didn't want to leave the water! It's honestly incredible to see how far she came within 3 months. By the end of this summer, she was able to swim a few strokes independently and also jump into the pool, turn around and get to the edge of the pool. She has gained so much confidence in the water and it's truly due to Reza. We can't praise him enough!!

My 9 y.o. daughter is a happy camper of Woodside Camp for the past two summers and I think I'm familiar with the place enough to share my thought and feelings about it. Counselors: The camp does really good job to bring counselors from all over the world. It amazing when my little one starts to talk about different countries because her favorite counselors came from there. She wasn't very interested in anything outside of US, but after last summer she took books from library about Scotland, Ireland and Australia. All counselors are kind, smart and funny and they love kids! Schedule: My kid never get bored. She tried fencing, drama, art, mountain biking, Volleyball, etc, etc, etc. The idea of creating personal schedule for a week on Monday and have an option to switch activity if you do not like you is super convenient. Every time she comes back with new stories and ideas what she wants to do as an after school activities during school year. Facilities: Woodside Summer Camp is in a boarding school in Woodside. Priory School has huge campus with everything on site. It's great location. Food: As I said before the camp located on a boarding school campus. They provide hot lunch with at list 3 options for salads, main dishes and sides. Moreover, staff carefully looking what exactly on a plate of your child and will softly suggest to add some meat and fruits to pasta. It's huge relief do not pack lunch every day. Happiness of my child: She wakes up by herself without alarm, gets ready to go in minutes and comes back from the camp singing in a car. She wants go to this camp for a whole summer. Price: Few people mentioned that it's not cheap camp and it's true, but considering that it probably $10-12 per day more than other camps in Bay Area your kid gets hot healthy lunch, excess to swimming pool, all these activities and staff that really care. Convenient: Camp goes until 5 pm. I work, so time is important for me. I also don't like after care programs because kids usually do nothing during this time. So making long story short It's great camp and my little one loves and me too.

The camp is amazingly organized, and what makes it stand out is the quality of the counselors. They are fully engaged with the kids and my kid LOVES them. The front desk staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and all of the instructors have been patient, encouraging, and great with the kids. The classes are very well organized, with clear groupings and instructors, so everything runs smoothly. The pool is a great size, and the water temperature is perfect for young swimmers, making it a comfortable experience for the kids. We currently have all three of our children enrolled, and they happily go into class without any tears. They've made tremendous progress in a short amount of time, and it's been wonderful watching their confidence grow in the water. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of instruction and experience. We're extremely happy with La Petite Baleen and will absolutely continue bringing our kids. Highly recommend to any family looking for a positive, well run swim program.

Once your kid is used to how things are run and is somewhat comfortable in the water, the loud and busy atmosphere of Saturdays and Sundays are just fine. We've had a few teachers over the last two years, given make up classes etc. Major shout outs to Jenny, Vina, and Orlando! Both of my daughters (ages 3 and 5) have made amazing progress. Teacher Jenny nurtured my baby into a confident, water-loving swimmer before she even turned 3! Jenny has had great insights on how to encourage my daughter in her skills (as well as patience for toddler attitudes, haha). Thanks, Jenny! Teacher Vina got my older daughter to enjoy lessons and I love her engaged she is with the kids. Teacher Orlando was our level 3 teacher, and did a great job of integrating work on "real" swim skills (starting some of the harder, more boring stroke work-imo) while still making the sessions fun. My girls and I look forward to LPB classes every week!
