So I know she has been a challenge to staff but they have been patient, kind and understanding and she loves them. She asks every morning if we can go to daycare. Since attending her manners have improved, she is always singing a new song and has mastered her counting and ABC's. They have offered routine and stability and lots of fun for my wee one. It's nice to get the daily report everyday of what she did and pictures to see what she was doing. The teachers are also always willing to chat and share about her day at pick up time. It's a small program so you know she is getting good individual care and is not lost in the numbers of bigger programs. I love that there are only 2 rooms, and that they interact on special occasions and at the beginning and end of the day. I think getting to be with the "big kids" has been fun and provided a challenge to my daughter. When we arrive and leave, every kid not only knows my daughter but even me. That homey feel is exactly what we needed for our first care experience.

The entire parkette has always been clean the times I have visited. There is a trail that continues north beside a railway track and opens up into a large shaded woodland area. This part may or may not be part of the same parkette (I'm not sure of this). There is no free WiFi.  The parkette is wheelchair accessible. There are no washrooms. - Variety of programming was strong…read more - Teaching/teachers/teacher support ranged from good to excellent - Management was sketchy: Our child was put on the waiting list for Centennial Infant and Child Centre (CICC) Private School just after birth. He ended up starting at the same time as another child who was one year younger but with the same diagnosis. Our child was only offered and attended the afternoon classes for four days a week for two years, whilst the other child attended the morning classes for five days a week for three years. Therefore, unfair for our child. Also, when we requested an even partial refund for classes and van services cancelled by CICC which we were denied, management told us that if we didn't like it to go somewhere else. We feel that our child missed out on early intervention that he should have received from CICC. In the end, we felt that our child was left behind and our strongest memories from Centennial Infant and Child Centre are about their deceptive and disappointing administrative practices.

If you want to learn about proper inclusion of typically developing kids with kids with exceptionalities, this the *the* place to do it. My son has attended for 2.5 years and we are on the other side of the city but putting him in a closer daycare is not even a consideration when I see the kind of quality education my son is getting. The teachers are HIGHLY skilled in teaching and caring for every kind of exceptionality you can imagine. When you walk into a CICC classroom, every single child is smiling, calm, engaged, interacting with peers and their adult volunteer and knows exactly what they need to do and how to do it. If our public schools could learn how to use the strategies that CICC teachers and staff use, you would see a completely non-violent and enlightened society in one generation. They have mastered the skill of celebrating each child's uniqueness while still being a valued member of each classroom and the school as a whole. This in not the case with every child but for ours, he has only cried one time due to frustration about a toy. The kids are so engaged and happy, I almost never see them fighting about toys, lining up, who was first, who took something from whom, etc. They are all friends and respect each other - and for 3 and 4 year olds, that's pretty amazing. This is a direct reflection of the how this schools has created a beautiful/caring/nurturing environment where all kids feel safe and happy. And THEY DO IT ALL WITHOUT SCREENS. ;) CICC will forever hold a special place in my heart and I am forever changed by witnessing what school should be for every child everywhere.

It's a fairly large park with roughly 100 parking spots. Alternatively, you can park on the side streets. It is a popular park in Markham with these amenities: - Picnic tables - Playgrounds (2) - Mini soccer fields (4) - Basketball court - Tennis courts / Pickleball (2) - Splash pad I like the trees in this park. They are lovely, especially to seek shade when it's hot! I like dropping by to sit, relax, and enjoy a nature break. It's a nice change of pace. The city of Markham has plans to improve this park. Some of the upcoming additions include the following: - A mini artificial turf soccer pitch - A synthetic ice rink - A multi-purpose sports court - Eighty additional parking spots I'm not sure when the completion date will be. Popular East Markham Park !!!…read more We have been going to Wismer Park for years. I remember when I lived in the Cornell/Greensboro neighbourhoods this is the park I would take my kids to when they younger. Wismer Park has many features that can be enjoyed by families and people of all ages. On the outskirts of the park you'll find extensive stretches of grass, great for frisbee, or letting your kids run around. You will also find Tennis courts, soccer fields, two playgrounds, one for toddlers and one for bigger kids and a very good size woodlot with a few kilometres of walking paths. We love to go there in the spring so we can enjoy our Provincial Flower the Trillium. The woodlot is full of them in late spring, and I'm sure many people go there in spring to see the Trilliums as well. Wismer Park is just one of Markham's parks but a favourite for East Markham's residents. I'm sure you will enjoy it too.
