This store had cute stuff and products were high end. I was baffled however by one of the rudest sales women I have ever encountered. Our family visited the store looking for beach gear for my middle schooler. I don't know if she didn't like children, or If she makes it a habit of being rude to everyone, but we felt like we were trespassing by opening the door. We would have bought a skimboard and some sand toys but after how she treated us we walked out and bought nothing. We drove to St. Armand's to buy swim gear and had a much better experience there. read more

We dealt with the most rude sales woman at this shop. We bought 5 swim items. One of the tops started to unravel within the first hour of wearing it. We came back to ask if we could exchange for a new one. We didn't want our money back, just a new top. We obviously didn't have the tag or receipt, It had been 2 days. She told us she didn't have the time to go through her system and find our ticket. She was just too busy for that! Horrible customer service. How embarrassing for her and this store. We will take our money and business elsewhere! read more

My friend and I visited the Longboat Key location looking for a suit and were pleasantly surprised by the large selection. While the store front is small, the store is full of suits and swimwear and loungewear for men and women and kids. Not too much for teenagers, a la billabong, OP, etc though. Sunglasses, readers, cute bags and accessories as well. The staff was super friendly with suggestions and so knowledgeable about each brands sizing quirks. Prices are typical for the area, some sale racks. We found a great bargain amongst the suits we were looking for. Definitely worth a trip if you are looking for a new suit! read more

I LOVE this place... the staff is so helpful and friendly and the one of the best bathing suit selections on the planet. What I love is their buyer buys for 'normal' women, so it's not all string bikini's and crazy cut outs. Excellent designers and great quality products throughout the entire store. Pushy, pushy service. My silly husband forgot to pack both his swim trunks and shorts for our 3-night getaway to Longboat Key. We stopped into Swim City because it was the closest place to our beach cottage. Mistake. Upon entering, I thought the service was friendly. The gal (the manager, maybe??) asked if she could help us and we told her what my husband needed. She pointed us in the right direction, but then kept suggesting shorts that were $72 after my husband said he just wanted the cheapest shorts because he forgot his and really doesn't "need" anything new. She really wanted to push the Tommy Bahama swim trunks and shorts and wouldn't stop suggesting them until another store clerk asked her for assistance on something. She got distracted and thankfully walked away. While my husband was trying on several pair of the $29 shorts, she asked me if I needed a swimsuit too. I told her that I have 10-12 swimsuits and just don't need anything. 10 minutes later -- not kidding -- she said, "Do you need a swimsuit too?" Umm...didn't we just have this conversation???? While paying for my husband's shorts, I commented on the cute Christmas stocking hanging at the counter. She said, 'We sell those." I then commented on a cute beachy sign that said, "And the flip flops were hung with care." Again, the sales person said, "That sign is for sale." Both times I said, "No thanks." She then pointed out some Christmas ornaments. I DON'T WANT ANYTHING! She then tried to talk us into coming back on Black Friday for a sale. We won't be returning for Black Friday or ever. I felt like I was in Mexico or the Caribbean and she just wanted my money, and nothing else mattered since she did not listen to us at all. There are some large beach shops if you continue driving up north on Gulf about 2 miles on the left. Two BIG stores are there with a much larger variety and normal service. I would not return to Swim City. read more

Had a wonderful experience with Cheryl at Swim City yesterday and today. Cheryl was very helpful and friendly from the time I walked into the shop. In addition, she went out of her way to pick up another size for me at its sister downtown store last evening...for me to try upon my return this morning. I stuck with the original size...but she could not have been more understanding of allowing me to choose the perfect size. Thank you Swim City and Cheryl for your great customer service. As a woman who has hated shopping for bathing suits for a very long time, I left this place happy and with a new bathing suit that I like and - more importantly - I like what it looks like on me. I wasn't going to write a review till I saw the review calling the employees pushy- SO TRUE! I was there a few weeks ago and experienced the same thing. My sister was looking at a longboat sweatshirt and when I told her we should check St.Armands circle, the woman began insisting we would NOT be able to find a longboat sweatshirt at st.armands. Ummmmm yes you can! Many many longboat sweatshirts available! Haha! She was very pushy with swim suits and bracelets at the counter as well. Great little swimwear store on Longboat Key. The location is what we were fans of. They didn't have many board shorts like a good surf shop would but they did have a pretty good men's selection. The lady working there was very friendly and she was able to point us in the right direction. We ended up finding something we liked and she gave us a little discount even though it wasn't marked on the tag. Really low prices all throughout the store! The place was not huge but it had a nice layout. They also had other beach gift shop kind of stuff but it was mostly bathing suits. read more
