Like many others during the pandemic, we found ourselves experimenting with home mixology more often and eventually needed to replenish our liquor cabinet when stay at home orders were still in place. Luckily, we live nearby to Swigg, a shop which offers a well curated selection of wines, craft beers, and liquors. BF sent a Facebook message with our shopping list with a brief lowdown of our intentions for each liquor. Within a hour, we received a response that they had selected bottles to meet our needs. Once we pulled into their parking lot, we were quickly addressed and our order was placed into our trunk. The whole ordeal was smooth, seamless, and safe as far as social distancing. We got gin, tequila, a bourbon for mixed drinks, and a bourbon to sip (we needed to stock up, okay?). All bottles were brands I hadn't heard of and wouldn't have selected on my own, but we really enjoyed all of their selections... even the gin, despite the fact that I'm not typically a gin girl. We also added on a "mystery 6 pack" for $12, which came with an assortment of 6 beers and a pint glass. A couple of the beers were winners, though most were mediocre at best. A great deal, but somewhat disappointing. All in all a great curbside shopping experience with excellent, personalized customer service that we would have never gotten at a giant liquor store. read more

There is so much good I would like to say about this place, but I will keep it as simple as possible. Their selection of wine, spirits, and beer are excellent and at excellent prices. From the major wine countries to the (for USA) smaller wine countries, craft and big name spirits and beer, they have everything you could want at any price point you would want. The part that makes it all meld together well is that there is no "wine snobbery" here (unlike another DE wine store that shall not be mentioned). Whenever I am nearby or need to find something better than what can be found at my local Fine Wine and Good Spirits or Total Wine, I know Swigg will come through for me. Worth the visit! read more

This is my second review. I LOVE this place. I recently took friends from Philadelphia to Swigg on a field trip. Dave made us feel right at home and helped us select wines. New on this visit was a new line of premixed cocktails. I am stunned at how good the Manhattan is. Don't sleep on the chocolate or the cheese either. I'm a wine, beer and tequila guy that is looking for quality and a fair price. I was running low on one of my favorite tequilas and I did a google search for the brand and found that Swigg carried it. I called and they had a bottle that I quickly went and purchased. I was impressed at his selection of tequilas, highly rated brands at fair prices. I will be back to purchase more when I run low. My favorite place to buy booze. Good selection of interesting wines, bottles that you don't find in typical liquor stores. Love they have a lot of natural wine that's made without additional chemicals or extras. Good craft beer selection and enough quality spirits to satisfy. Owner is friendly and super helpful matching wines to your palate. Not a place to buy barefoot, coors, and jack - but if you have more discerning taste in booze, its a great spot. It's sometimes hard to find small businesses that offer a unique product and value for money, but Swigg accomplishes that quite nicely. A place I definitely enjoy supporting. read more

Usually, I do not hold out much hope for Wilmington-based wine shops; either they are your run-of-the-mill shops with the same nationally known brands of uninspired wines and/or have their wares priced into the stratosphere when compared to other areas, even the PA state stores. With that said, walking into Swigg today was a very pleasant surprise. The selection in the shop is thoughtfully curated and edited, making it virtually impossible to walk out with a bad bottle of wine, liquor, or beer. This is especially nice to see, as many of the shops with good "selections" are simply those with lots of wine, usually without distinction. Pricing was also a nice surprise, as they are priced fairly and largely in-line with what one would see nationally in a brick-and-mortar wine shops. This is especially amazing as there are a good number of wine shops in the city that are priced quite highly when compared to their national counterparts. I would also say that the liquor and beer selections are fantastic and focus on smaller producers, which offer something different than one usually sees locally. I cannot recommend Swigg enough for locals, as it offers the best selection in terms of quality and is priced fairly. read more

I was looking for a special Christmas gift and I was helped by someone very knowledgeable! Just great to be able to talk to someone who knows her products well! The absolute best wine store in the area. I refuse to shop anywhere else for wine. The shop itself has an excellent selection of a variety of wines, beers, seemingly spirits (I don't know much about this), cheese and even chocolate. (This really might be the perfect store for me - if they sold books, I might never leave). The people who work there are knowledgeable and nice - they can steer you towards wines you might like based on what you've told them or prior purchases... and they do it without the slightest whiff of pretention (thankfully because that's so annoying). The prices range from absolutely reasonable to "more than I care to spend on myself but perfect for a hostess gift or to take to a dinner party". Between the one stop shopping for wine and wine related stuff - and the events that they do (I think they sample five wines at 5 pm on Fridays regularly and then do other events on top of that), Swigg fills a niche in (North)Wilmington that adds so much value to our area. I really can't say enough about the value of the wines you'll find here. You'll have no problem finding a wine $15 or under that tastes like you paid twice as much for it.
