I started going to camp there when I was 11 and I loved every second of my 5 years as a camper. Gabe, Erin, and Barbara really know how to make every girl feel good about themselves and provide a place where girls can make friendships that really do last a lifetime. After being a camper, I chose to go back as a counselor as well and that was yet another great experience. Their staff training did not only teach me important counseling skills, it taught me life skills that I have continued to use as an adult. The staff are well prepared to take care of the girls that spend their summer there every year. BT changed my life and I could not be more grateful for such a wonderful, unique, and special place. I made friends there when I was a camper that are still my best friends today. It is an experience that every girl should have a chance to have.

It's all about teaching kids to respect themselves, one another, and the environment. Young campers return from Camp Bovey with a renewed sense of purpose, new friendships, and life skills that go beyond learning how to start a camp fire, pitch a tent, fish, canoe and swim (they'll learn those things too, of course, among many other camping skills). This is a non-profit endeavor of East Side Neighborhood Services located in Minneapolis, so there's a sliding-scale fee for those who qualify and diversity among campers and staff. Speaking of staff, the senior staff are seasoned professional, while the summer staff are hired from area colleges, making it the perfect summer job and resume builder. Camp is a place where kids can get away from everyday life and stress and just be a kid. The staff and everyone that help out at camp make it a warm and loving place for everyone. It is a beautiful setting where you can swim, bike, hike, fish, climb a wall, play basketball, baseball, plant a garden, play with goats and much more. They create an experience that many of the children they serve would not find anywhere else.

I have worked under John + Eric (2016-2018) and I currently work under Sara. They have all been fantastic bosses. The horse program is my specialty, but all of our programming areas offer a unique, fun and inviting camp experience! Climbing Tower, sling shots, throwing axes, Arts and crafts, swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, field time, high ropes, etc. There are activities for all ages, interests, and ability. I have enjoyed working on the staff, each staff being slightly different year to year. We are a fun, loving and skilled group of individuals! It's peaceful, and beautiful--but it's the people who make it truly special. Everyone is welcoming, respectful, and quick to make you feel like part of the 2c family. There's always something going on--whether it's an event, parade, or just sitting around the fire sharing stories and laughs. And of course, the clothing-optional part makes it easy to relax, be yourself, and enjoy the sunshine without a care. Glen and Stephanie do an amazing job running the business while also maintaining genuine friendships and keeping communication open and honest. That balance is rare, and it's a big part of why this place feels so special. Im writing my experience directly and I hope if you think about visiting you express your personal experiences as well!
