Definitely not the best place to stay in the east Glacier Ntl Park area. Beds were uncomfortable…read more Dining room downstairs was noisy when were trying to relax after a day of hiking. Menu was limited so we ate in St Mary, MT. As far as general accomodation, we found the Thronson's Motel close by in Babb to be a better choice.

In addition to the small rooms you get access to the shared shower, toilet, and sink rooms. There are two of each, also small, located in the center of the hall. The hot water was limited and when present was difficult to adjust. Expect showers to be cold or scalding. And whatever you do, don't get stuck with room #6. That's the one that shares a wall with both toilet rooms had there's no telling what sensory experiences you might enjoy at any hour of the day or night. The furnishings in the rooms and common areas were... shoddy. The beds were uncomfortable with well-used spring mattresses. Any noise from the kitchen and bar areas below carried and things didn't get quiet enough to sleep until everything was closed down. And I suggest you avoid sitting on the sofas in the lobby. It only took me a few minutes to discover there were already lots of little things already living there. Food service is erratic. We didn't try any of it and from what I saw it didn't look awful. The good news is you're just down the road, around the corner, and down the road from the Cattle Baron Supper Club. We had dinner there one night and it was the best steak dinner I've had in a long time. We were chatting with a bellman at the Many Glacier Hotel (which is another spot to get a great meal). He mentioned there were lots of places outside the park besides his hotel that provided better value. When we told him where we were staying he replied without skipping a beat, "that's not one of them." The park is beautiful and we will be back. However, we'll make a point of seeking out some other place to stay.

NO HOT WATER. 8pm and no hot water left in shower. Had to take cold shower after all day hiking…read more Shower curtain had a huge gap underneath (see photo) allowing water to FLOOD entire bathroom floor. Paper-thin walls. We heard every conversation in the rooms around us- I mean we could hear EVERY WORD said in the room next door and they could hear us too! Every bump and noise from above. Absolutely horrible. Wifi was spotty and intermittent. Extremely overpriced! Only booked here because we couldn't find anything else available in St Mary. Now I know to just stay somewhere else- anywhere else. Drive an hour just to avoid the Red Eagle Motel. We were in Room #6. Would never ever come here again and wanted to warn others! Only nice thing was the location and the view.

Mis-matched towels so scratchy you might use them for sanding the next project in your woodshop and so thin that you might mistake them for Kleenex. Room featured a broken window screen so that all manner of bugs might visit. No housekeeping service. Little to no cell reception. Wi-fi that does not work in the rooms; it only works if you are directly in front of the office. No hair dryer provided. No bureau or other horizontal surface in the room to place anything. Low shower water pressure so you feel like you are being misted rather than showered with a temperature that only scores tolerable, certainly not warm. No ice available on site. No phones in the room. No air conditioning, only a rather loud fan that does little to cool the room. Surly front desk attendant who didn't bother to provide any information about the lack of housekeeping or the crappy wi-fi password upon check-in. One star for not having bed bugs, or at least none that were evident. Perhaps they should rename this establishment the "Dead Eagle Motel."

Words of warning: activities with Algers, your wonderful guide, are not for the tame, but those with an adventurous spirit seeking some guidance from a backcountry expert. This is not safari, just time spent enjoying being alive in a beautiful place. My boyfriend and I chose to do a Jeep Tour with Blackfeet Outfits. Normally, I don't splurge on things I deem to be "touristy," as I hail from a resort town myself and am fairly comfortable outdoors. But, it was September, high bear season, a last minute trip and yadayadayada, so a jeep tour sounded safer. I am SO glad I didn't miss out on the Jeep Tour experience! Other than tranquil Glacier National Park, the time spent with Algers of Blackfeet Outfitters was the highlight of our Montana Excursion. I'm already looking forward to going back next year for fly-fishing, and renting one of the awesome cabins on the property. I saw some mixed reviews online of his lodging. I'm not sure where that stems from, although I assume it's because Babb isn't as glamorous as staying in the Park itself. It is however way more comfortable and a short drive to the Many Glaciers entrance of GNP. For those with RVs, he also has 17 hook ups on site. Best time ever.
