I initially had called a few bakeries, including Bubblecake. From the first Phone Call, I was blown away at how accommodating & patient Hannah (I apologize if I mix and mismatched your names, ALTHOUGH I think I'm accurate) As the the hours FLEW by, I found myself with 70 minutes to get from Grandin, to Bubblecake (still unsure of my decision), to Best Buy (for final gift), back to Grandin, and to middle of Salem!!! As, I was on my way to Bubblecake (leaving the gas station in Grandin, because OF COURSE, my gas light) I called them and was inquiring about the cupcakes flavors, and sizes, but Kate was AMAZING! She was friendly and patient. She was explaining the size of the cupcakes with a comparison to her "fist", and because of my terrible hearing (thank you Marine Corps!), I thought she was saying fish, and finally understood "fist", so it made complete sense, and honestly helped me make my decision. When I walked into Bubblecake, I was greeted by Katie, and Hannah and up immediately. She answered all remaining questions, and helped me make my final decision. Hannah, Katie, and with the help of Ariana, BEAUTIFULLY prepared the 2 dozen of Strawberry Cupcakes with strawberry frosting in perfect packaging. Not only friendly, patient and BEYOND accommodating, but extremely proficient! The dream there is amazing, and to make it even better, everyone RACED about the cupcakes! When I mentioned where they were from, everyone agreed about how good "Bubblecake" is! Your reputation precedes you, but I want to thank Hannah, Katie, and Ariana for an absolutely stellar job from start to finish! I'll be back, and I know who my bakery is, celebration or not Thank you again ladies, and I'll see you in the future!

Surrounded by windows in almost all sides, it attracts the attention of those walking by as well as repeat customers who have already been through that initial experience. I am one of the second type. This is not my first time here, but the first time writing a review because I want the public to know about this fantastic place where sweet treasures can be discovered and enjoyed. The first impression when you walk in, is of how clean and organized the store is. Besides the great variety of sweet items neatly arranged, you can find the walls decorated with many artworks of many kinds and you can listen to relaxing music in the background. But this didn't just happen, a young lady and gentleman both are working arduesly bringing out the fresh cupcakes and arranging them neatly in their place. They warmly greet me and allow me to keep looking at all the items until I'm ready to make an order. While I continue looking, other customers with more experience and knowledge of the store and items come right in and order and take the items. They wrap everything so nicely that any of the items here can be bought and given as a gift to someone close. While the young man went to answer the phone, the young lady answers my question of if they still had the large cookie sandwiches that a good friend of mine and I bought last time I was here. She answers me in the affirmative and takes out a pan full of them with a transparent wrap covering them up. These things are not cheap but the taste is priceless. I ordered a couple of cookie sandwiches: one with dark chocolate and one with white chocolate. She nicely wrapped them and put them in a nice box bag with handles. I highly recommend this place when you're in the mood for something sweet or would like to buy something sweet as a gift for someone or bring something as a gift to a dinner invitation. All their dessert are amazingly delicious.

It's an authentic Mexican panaderia. A Bakery, like none you've ever seen before. At least I hadn't, because even though I'm of Hispanic Heritage, I was born in Cuba and was raised in Puerto Rico. My background is more from the Caribbean, with different customs, food, and music, but a common Motherland, Spain. As I was driving through a road I had never explored before, I ran into this Mexican family-owned business. The sign read: "Los Tres Hermanos. Panes, Postres y Pasteles." Which translates to: The Three Brothers. Breads, Desserts, and Cakes. Quickly, I pulled over, parked my car, and went inside. And what I found was trays and trays of different kinds of breads and desserts. Cakes in a refrigerator, and piñatas hanging from the ceiling, among other things. The trays were held together by tray stands. People would come in, grab an empty tray and tongs, and go around placing the items the items the wanted to purchase on their trays. I invite you to look at my photographs and video clip accompanying my review to get a better sense of the place. A friendly young lady greeted me with a big smile and answered all my questions about the place. The owner also came out to greet me and let me know that they also sell chicken and pork tamales, barbacoa, and carnitas, on some days of the week. The lady handed me a tray and some tongs and while I was picking my items another employee brought out trays of Tres Leches to put in one of the refrigerators, next to the one with the cakes. What a great discovery on this Hispanic Heritage Month and National Dessert Month. I highly recommend that you visit this Mexican Bakery. It will be an experience of a lifetime, and you will also take home some authentic Mexican sweet desserts.

This quaint Bakery & Coffee House, found inside a beautiful Victorian house. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Albemarle Bakery & Coffee House is the perfect example. Today, I woke up early in the morning to go have breakfast there and try it out. I arrived at the Coffee House not long after it opened. Housed in a beautifully renovated Victorian house in the exclusive neighborhood of the Old Southwest in Roanoke, Virginia, it had a simple, lovely landscape and a sign of the small business up front. I walked up the stairs to the porch and there was a sign hanging that said: "Come in. We are Open." I did as the sign said and found myself in what at first seemed like an empty house, but after going to the back room through the dining rooms, I discovered the ordering counter and kitchen, where the coffees were made. A friendly young lady by the name of Jennifer greeted and welcomed me to this place. Then she took my order. I ordered a Bacon, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Bun, a Morning Glory Muffin, and a large Café Mocha. Everything was baked fresh and my coffee was made at the moment. When everything was ready, the server brought the items to the counter and I brought them to my table. Everything tasted wonderfully. It was nice to have a bakery so close by. I also enjoyed the ambiance inside this renovated Victorian house which was decorated with several paintings, beautiful Tiffany style chandeliers, and besides the dining rooms also had a Little Library room. While I was there, several regulars came by, who had been coming for years. And you could clearly see that they enjoyed having this Bakery & Coffee House here in the middle of their neighborhood. I highly recommend this place to anyone who lives in the neighborhood, and to those who don't, come by and give us a visit, this is the perfect excuse to do so. And besides the baked goods and coffee, you will be able to appreciate why this neighborhood is referred as the Historic Old Southwest and deeply valued as such.

I did so after having visited it several times, having had their ice-cream and homemade cookies, and having talked to and interviewed their store employees as well as their truck driver who brings their ice-cream and cookie dough from Lynchburg, Virginia. Now that Rookie's has relocated from their Downtown Roanoke store to Cave Springs, at 3549 Electric Rd, Suite D, I have decided to visit their new location, and write an update review. I urge all the readers to this review to also go back and read my first review and accompanied photographs to learn more about the history of the company. For Rookie's is more than just an Ice Cream Parlor. It's a place where desserts and friends meet to create something memorable. Their employees are encouraged to establish conversations with their customers and answer questions about their company and their products. And their comfortable ambiance and seating area contribute to the enjoyment and extraordinary sweet dining experience while people socialize with family and friends, and share quality time with them. The new location is more family-friendly and has more parking than their previous location. The residents of Cave Springs have welcomed Rookie's with open arms and have become steady customers in a relatively short period of time. I was impressed to find out that it is located in thr same Shopping Center as Cafe Asia 2 Restaurant, one of my favorites Asian Restaurants. Rookie's continues to offer different flavors of cookies, homemade ice cream, and signature ice cream sandwiches, in a clean and simple interior design relaxing environment, and with excellent customer service from their warm, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. Today I visited the new location with a friend and both of us interacted with the servers and had ice-cream sandwiches. Mine was Mint Chocolate Chip cookies with Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. The combination of the two made the perfect sweet snack or dessert. During the time we were there chatting and enjoying our ice-cream sandwich, we saw many other customers come in and do the same. It seems that Rookie's made a great strategic move for a win win situation between the company and its customers. A quote from the owner of the community I feel best describes it best: "We believe that community is built on a foundation of celebrating something good and we believe our handcrafted ice cream sandwiches. Ice cream, cookies & milk will bring you together! We're all about the memories made and the nostalgia we hope you feel whenever you tuck in to a treat with friends and family." All of Rookie's ice cream is handcrafted in Lynchburg, and they offer vegan and gluten-free options. Rookie's hopes to continue expanding to other locations, with some customers even asking for a location in North Carolina. I highly recommend this business and its products, and consider it one of the City of Roanoke's gem.
