I have been dairy-free for seven years (six of those as a vegan). The only thing I really missed…read morewas good chocolate. Sure, I could satisfy the momentary cravings, but it wasn't until I tried Sweet Vegan chocolates at a live event in SoHo last weekend, that realized just how much I had been compromising on quality and flavor. Finally!! Tasty, decadent chocolate that lingers luxuriously. Of course I immediately ordered a Mother's Day box for myself!! It just arrived and the first thing I did was try the bonus seasonal chocolate, Kiwi Krazy. It was subtle, unexpected, and delicious! I have found a chocolatier who meets me where I am. Bonus - getting to support small woman-run business.

I was gifted the assortment for Christmas and while they were all great, we really loved the ginger so ordered those for Valentine's Day. Chef Andrea kindly gifted us a raspberry truffle and it was a close call between that and the ginger. Honestly all the flavors are amazing. Highly recommend whether or not you are vegan!

I went with the spiced date, which came with a special bacon crumble and honey drizzle. It was $5, which is pretty standard. It was described on their signs as thick gelato, and they cut it from a roll, which is a pretty cool serving method. Still, I was unprepared for the texture. I didn't find it as gross as other reviewers, but I didn't enjoy it. When your ice cream isn't melting in 90 degree weather, it just feels off. The fat content was pretty high so it ended up being both dense and chewy. The date flavor wasn't very strong. I liked the toppings, and it was a pretty plate. But don't know that I would go on this adventure again.

The cupcakes are to die for--I am a total cupcake snob and not easily impressed. The red velvet is rich and creamy, and the cream cheese frosting is divine. The carrot cake is moist, with just a hint of coconut. The best is the key lime cupcake--literally the best cupcake I have ever eaten. Not only are these treats delicious, they look awesome too. She did Elmo cupcakes for my daughter's second birthday that everyone still talks about. To boot, these are hands down the best cupcakes in our area. I have tried others from a local bakery and they are more expensive and far less impressive. For taste, quality and price Buttercups is definitely the best!

I think the place is a hidden gem here in Downtown Brooklyn since it's actually hard to get to a juice bar like Juice Generation or other chain store like that. Noi Due is a cute little shoppe with seating. Not only do they have Gelato, they also have sorbet. There were some flavors I've never seen and the shopkeeper was generous and patient enough to accommodate each person's request for a sample. I settled on the pistachio and the stracciatella while family went with more exotic mixes. We loved this place and I will be coming back this way.

On our way back, our group of six decided to grab some gelato. Since there were a few places to choose from, we picked the one closest to the museum, which had great reviews. It was super clean, but like a typical NYC store, it was pretty small. Luckily, we were the only ones there at first, but it did get busy. Isabela, the server, was super accommodating and encouraged us to try different flavors. I tried Halva Nagela with almond taste, but I ended up picking pistachio for its strong nutty and creamy flavor--oh, it was sooo good! My husband loved the Dulce de Leche. The other flavors we had were crème brûlée and mint chip. We all loved the gelato favors we picked. We highly recommend Noi Due Gelato. It was a super treat for a gorgeous, warm day in NYC.

First time at the shop and was disappointed. the person working there did not seem to really know…read morethe products even though he said they made the products in the shop. I asked for the ingredients of the chocolate bon bon type things and he said I don't know. He didn't even say he would find out. He was just on his phone so it wasn't like I was interrupting his work. I told him this was the first time I was there and I was excited to try new things as I have seen the bars the Westerly. He seemed like he really didn't like the products himself. The shop was filled with boxes, there was no place to sit after you ordered and there were no drinks available. there was a table there but it was filled with stuff like boxes and supplies. Sadly , the shop tells you to GET OUT without words. It would be nice to have someone at the shop who actually is excited about the mission and the products. He could not tell me anything about the products. So disappointed. I bought a bunch of stuff anyway because I liked the ingredients but I avoided the chocolates because he couldn't tell me what was in them. (also he didn't know anything about the chocolate bars). plus the packaging was dusty on the chocolate bars and bon bon type things. As for the bars, they are good. I remember a long time ago I tried the matcha bar in Santa Monica and it blew my mind. This time, it does not blow my mind but it does satisfy me. I would buy the bars again but as some people have written, it must have changed a few years ago. It's quite expensive for the size but when I need my fix and since I'm on a low inflammatory diet, this is the best stuff. I really love the carob bar. I am trying the granola, which is extremely expensive but I was happy to try something new I hadn't tried. I wish there was someone in the shop who liked the products and knew about them and I wish that the shop was just a bit more inviting.
