The other thing was that they did the tea rather interesting, namely with a beaker of hot water, and the tea in a strainer. That was good, as it meant that I could control how strong the tea was. Still, it wasn't one of the best places that I had been to, however, I will give it points for not assuming that everybody likes their tea strong.

This one came off pretty well though, on first impression. I tried a chai pumpkin waffle, which besides being vegan seemed like a bit of a stretch, but the flavors came together well enough. Having gotten an actual chai to drink on the side, I was reasonably pleased with the flavor and the speed with which it arrived. An eclectic, health-food-y menu promises a few other things I could see trying. What was more notable was the nice deck they had out back, which I wasn't aware was so substantial having viewed the place from the street, as well as the free wi-fi. They had a separate wi-fi just for the back (presumably their router in the front doesn't extend that far), and it was pretty snappy. On a decent weather day (which is a lot of days around here), it certainly would be a good place to spend an extended period of time working or talking. If the rest of their dishes really impress, I might even revisit the rating.

Friendly, relatively fast service. Has high chairs. The food is not particularly baby/toddler friendly though. Beware, even thought they are open throughout the day, their kitchen closes for a bit just before lunch for the switch over between breakfast and lunch. So if you happen to turn up during that time, you can only order drinks.

It's so new, that the "Billy Kart Provisions", a deli next door is still being finalised. Thought we'd go undercover & get a taste of the place for ourselves, expectations fairly high as we do love the Billy Kart Kitchen in Annerley. We liked the quirky yet trendy feature wall which displays deconstructed parts of a Billy-Kart. We were here for breakfast; a simple menu yet diverse in its offering from Spanner crab & scallop congee, to "liege waffles". A range of savoury as well as sweet "waffle & pancake" options with prices from $6 - $21.50 & additional "sides" $4.50 - $7. We decided on the savoury; Carne Asada, fried eggs, habanero salsa, chicharrones, & corn tortilla ($18.50). This dish is absolute tops! Ever so tender pulled pork, perfectly complimenting the crunchy textures of the tortilla & chicharrones. One of the best & unique versions of pulled pork we've had in terms of flavour & a big serving. However, this dish does have a spicy chilli kick, so if you're not that way inclined, it may be too early for your palate (as a breakfast dish) to handle. We also ordered the Buttermilk & Ricotta pancakes, with coconut caramel banana ($16). The pancakes themselves were light, fluffy & whilst ricotta isn't something you will necessarily taste, it adds a magical creaminess to each bite. The coconut caramel sauce though was excellent. Perfect consistency & just the right sweetness, so it didn't overpower the banana flavour as well, but add to it. Service was great, being only their second day & quieter in patronage, I suppose it was easy to get served. But the staff were always friendly, welcoming, & had great suggestions with what dishes to try. Coffee is by Campos Coffee, (& although it's not our fave), it was made well by the barista. Great work Billy Kart West End! Will be back!

The waffle was quite basic and was premade and toasted up briefly to order, but for the money you can't complain. I enjoyed the hot chocolate. The difference between a small and medium hot chocolate was $.20, making me wonder why anyone would get a small. They had some costlier but nice looking breakfast bowls that I might give a shot, but for their main attraction it seemed fine, but nothing to write home about.

Mr Bean's has a number of coffee carts hidden in and around campus, great for that quick caffeine hit between lectures. They also do a mean waffle. Seriously, try their waffles. The staff are pretty awesome, especially the tall skinny guy, Andrew I think his name is, who knows his stuff and can recommend good flavours to add to spice up your next iced coffee or latte. You can find Mr Bean's espresso bar near the main refectory next to Boost Juice or at one of the three mobile coffee carts in and around the uni. They definitely are the place to go for a quick caffeine hit.
