I was really disappointed with the gender reveal cake we ordered. When I called on Tuesday, I was specifically told that the inside cake color would reveal the gender, not just the icing/filling - but that's not what we received. Once we cut into it, you could barely even tell it was pink, which completely defeated the point of a gender reveal cake. On top of that, the cake itself was poorly made. Looking at the inside and even the outside edges, it appears like cake scraps/crumbs were used to piece parts of it together. For a special event cake, this was really disappointing both in appearance and execution. This review is for the cupcakes being supplied from this bakery to Go Play in Chesterfield. I purchased a vanilla and chocolate cupcake from the concessions stand at Go Play. The business card said the cupcakes were from Sweet Spot Cake Shoppe in O'Fallon. I thought coming from a bakery, the cupcakes would be good, but boy was I wrong! I didn't know how much they were going to cost because there was no sign. I didn't know until I was checked out that they were over $15 for 2 cupcakes! That is literally highway robbery! I really wanted to pass on the sale, but felt bad doing that since they were already out on a plate for me. Only Jilly's cupcakes are $7 each, and those cupcakes actually deserve that price because they taste amazing, are huge, and are wonderfully decorated. First time here. Place looks very clean. About 6-8 varieties of cupcakes available to purchase, some cakes and cookies. You probably do better ordering what you want. Cupcakes are $3.99 each. We got 4 different ones. Was hoping for red velvet cupcakes or a slice of cheesecake but none was available. The employee that took care of us seemed like she was in a rush. It could have been the owner not sure but she was in a rush to get us out of there so we chose our cupcakes rapidly and got out. I wanted more information about cheesecakes to try it and the red velvet, the cheesecake she said that sometimes they have them in the morning I ask her so I have to come early in the morning to get and try it by a slice to try it and she said oh we usually have them there but we don't have any right now so she didn't give me a straight answer. I was confused but again she was rushing, maybe had something in the oven in the back, unfortunately her attitude came out as rude. I just paid and got out. Ordered a cookie cake for my daughters birthday and it was absolutely delicious!! We are picky about our cookie cakes and this one had us coming back again and again. We are going to see if we can request buttercream icing next time, and if so, I think that will put this one at number one we've ever had! I am new to this area and I was looking for a place that sold cake by the slice. I called in advance and this place does not sell cake by the slice. I went in anyway since they had cupcakes as my goal was to see if their buttercream icing was good. I don't like sprinkles and they were kind enough to ice a cupcake for me right then as I waited. I tried a vanilla cupcake with white icing and a chocolate/ chocolate cupcake. The icing was good but I could tell the cake was old. It tasted like it had been sitting for a few days. Not sure I would go back for cupcakes but I would imagine their cake would be much fresher. read more

Ordered cupcakes for a wedding shower, absolutely gorgeously decorated to match the brides colors, and delicious to boot.

I was telling my husband about how I always loved wedding cake from back in the day because it was always white cake with almond buttercream icing. DROOL. I CRAVE that cake but never seem to find it anywhere and I said it was the type of cake I wished I could have for my birthday. My husband called up Sweet Spot Cake Shoppe and they told him they could make an almond cake (which I don't see on their menu, but I imagine was maybe a custom cake?). IT. WAS. SO. GOOD. Soo moist and flavorful and delicious. Also, he called and ordered it for two days later and they were able to squeeze us in, which I think is really awesome. So Sweet Spot has helped me fulfill a craving I've had since I was that 10 year old kid (I won't tell you my age but let me tell you, the birthday I celebrated had a 5 at the beginning!)
