By then during this off-season weekday, the Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT) was having a matinee and many businesses on the main street were already closed. A few places like Off Broadway (an appropriate name considering that CRT is just across the street) were open and it was fun to just browse around. Our Team leader spent a lot of time in the antiques section in back and came away with a nice gift. Another 2 colleagues spent a lot of time marveling over the Abra Jewelry concept. It's basically a mix and match (for example, pendant and necklace) layout that allows you to design your own aesthetic bridge between ancient and contemporary art. It was all pretty cool, although I wasn't brave enough to pick out the right combination for Gayle. Off Broadway definitely stands out among the Creede Shops along North Main Street and is worth a stop before theater or just because.

The last 2 years though (possibly 3 as I skipped a year in the middle) they have had a kettle corn stand, run by the most engaging and kind gentleman as well as Wild Mountain Jewelry. I really do love Wild Mountain Jewelry as they have such a variety to choose from. I've found myself needing to get at least one of their medicine stone jewelry necklaces every time I go, good thing those are only in the $20-30 range! But they have all sorts and purses, wallets and figurines too. I'm not their only fan, my mother in law and aunt also go their every trip and on my last visit I overheard conversations of other return customers. This past summer I noticed one of the businesses was a tent full of homemade soap and candles. The carvings were quite intricate and I left with several soaps that were in the $5-8 range. That tent is cash only though, so be prepared. Luckily I was parked at the Kentucky Belle already so I was able to run to my car for my wallet, as I only had my debit card and phone on me at the time. So you basically grab a small bowl and go around the store picking out beads for a jewelry piece. I decided to make earrings for my mama and their selection was great. The beads range in price from $.05 to $4 with most being around $.20. You then choose what kind of hoops or bands you want and take it all to the counter or if you're more experienced/in for an adventure you can sit at a table and make a piece by yourself. If not then the kind staff makes your piece for you rather quickly which is great (and impressive!). There is a $5 studio fee but I found everything to be incredibly affordable. I made two great and unique pieces for my mom and the total was just under $13. You couldn't find jewelry that inexpensive and personable anywhere. I DEFINITELY recommend this place and am really excited to go back.
