Most recently, our VW was shifting VERY roughly and slipping gears, so we took it to the dealership who did - only - a transmission fluid test and said it needed a whole new transmission for over $5,000! We took it to German Auto Haus, and they actually took everything apart and it turned out the transmission was fine. They were able to fix the ACTUAL problem (valve body pump, catalyst converter...etc) for less than half of what the dealer quoted us. On top of that, they are just sweet folks. They delivered the car home for free bc it was on their way. My husband and I are so thankful for the people at German Auto Haus - they really helped us in a time of need. They broke my aluminum hose for the compressor, said I did it, and after I constantly went back (my fault ik) for the same issues that were under warranty they said they no longer felt comfortable servicing my vehicle. Come to find out here recently.. after series of issues, the new compressor I asked for is actually refurbished and wasn't even mounted correctly and caused a few more thousand dollars in repairs. (Like hand tightened bolts or even missing ones.) Now you could say someone else could have messed with the compressor since then... sadly I do not go to the mechanic enough for that to be possible. :)
