A sewer scope found the blockage in the sewer but was unable to find the spot where the rain drains tied in so the actual root cause was never determined. The whole line was bad but I replaced only the section that plugged up to save money until I could afford to fix it properly. Since then the basement stayed dry despite multiple heavy rains. Once I saved enough I had Black Rock Underground replaced my sewer pipe in May 2022. They were hired by the city to work on the main sewer line for the block, I didn't know much about them but because my sewer line tied into the one they were already working on they only charged be $2,800 to replace my whole line!!! A few weeks after replacing the sewer pipe it flooded again (we had record braking rain fall). I figured it was because they had to disconnected my rain drains in order to meet the city's current codes. I knew the codes and didn't blame them for it, it had to happen. After researching the different options to reliably waterproof the basement I finally called them a few weeks ago in hopes they remembered something about the work that might help me decide the best fix. They immediately offered to come investigate. Britt came out, scoped all my drains, put water down them, located them and marked their depth. I had paid two different companies for the same service Britt did back when it first flooded, both were unhelpful so I didn't expect much. I'm not sure if the other guys didn't know what they were doing or just didn't care but I was blown away by Britt's feedback, he genuinely cared and went above and beyond my expectations trying to figure out the root cause. His feedback was extremely helpful, insightful, and thorough. I'd praise him more but I'm tired of typing. I want to buy this guy a beer!! THANK YOU BRITT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't catch the customer service rep's name but she was cold, unfriendly, sanctimonious, and just came across like I was interrupting her day. She talked down to me, didn't listen to my input, and repeated the same solution over and over even after I told her twice it was not relevant to my situation. When I attempted to explain this fact to her for a third time, citing my many decades of professional experience in the field we were discussing, she implied that I was incompetent because I didn't accept her single, obviously scripted, solution. There comes a moment in many conversations when you realize you are arguing with an idiot. This was the moment. I hung up on her, outlined the exchange on several reviews, and came here. I wish I could recall her name to report her accurately but I'll surmise it began with a bee and ended with an itch. Signed, an unsatisfied customer

They can also be emailed through this page: https://www.bbb.org/bbb-directory/us/or TVWD has no fewer than seven fixed charges per billing cycle totaling $199.54, which means **you are paying a minimum $200 bimonthly without even turning on your sink.** I took the liberty of breaking down these costs and attaching pictures from my bills in case anyone is dubious or on the fence about the integrity of this company. Here are the breakdowns as of Jan-Feb 2025: 1.) Water fixed charge: $82.71 2.) Surface water charge - local: $6.58 3.) Surface water charge - regional: $2.19 4.) Sewer base charge - local: $11.58 5.) Sewer usage charge - regional: $31.36 6.) Sewer usage charge - local: $6.08 7.) Sewer base charge - regional: $59.04 **NOTE**: in the photos I attached, not all charges appear in this order. Note as well that the fixed water charge increased. In July-August 2024, the charge was $70.40. In Sept-October it was $71.59, and in Nov-Dec it jumped all the way up to $82.72, where it currently sits as of Jan-Feb 2025. The way Tualatin Valley Water District prices their fixed charges is not only unacceptable, it's despicable. I'm a single individual living alone in my household, and I only use ~$20 worth of water bimonthly (give or take depending on the season). Despite this, I'm still stuck with a bill that's incapable of being less than $200. I applied and was approved for the Community Assistance Program (CAP), which I had hoped would ease some of the burden. However, the 20% off only applies to the fixed water charge and water volume charge, the latter of which is my personal water usage, which happens to be the cheapest part of my bill because it's the only charge I can control. The fixed water charge, as mentioned, is $82.72, and 20% off that and my personal usage means I only get about ~$20 off a month. ($82.72 + $20 = $102.72; 20% off that.) Again, I am a single individual living alone in my house. More importantly, not everyone can be approved for CAP or one-time emergency utility assistance through the county. TVWD inevitably tries to justify it as "competitive market pricing that meets demand needs and helps build and maintain your water delivery/storage/treatment system," but even when considering that, there is no reason to set prices this high. None. This is despicable and inexcusable. There is no justification that someone is paying **seven fixed charges totaling $200** without using a single drop of water. When TVWD digs their heels in about it, it not only makes them look worse, it does nothing whatsoever to alleviate the financial strain they are very clearly imposing upon their customers. There's a reason they have 1.6 stars. This company is so deplorable that I encourage everyone to determine who their water/sewer provider is when they are looking to move so they can avoid Tualatin Valley Water District at all costs. That should tell you something. Please, please report TVWD to the Better Business Bureau. Clearly customer complaints aren't enough. TVWD, I hope you can't sleep at night.

My organization has used Hidden Creek for several years now, and when we started working with them,…read morethey were adjustable and easy to work with. However, we had our annual event this year at Hidden Creek and the experience was extremely frustrating and unacceptable. First of all, they're very strict about anyone even entering the building before the time designated as the starting time. I don't expect them to open the doors of the banquet hall before the starting period that we paid for, but they wouldn't even let us in the building. They would not let us bring any of our materials into the building, and they told us we were not allowed to even unload our materials outside of the door so that once the door to the building opened, things would be unpacked and ready to set up. I was told it was a safety matter, but the materials we unpacked were not in front of the door, but well to the side of the entrance. They enforce those rules very strictly and in a manner that is not particularly friendly. Earlier this year, we held a different event at Hidden Creek, in other words different than the annual event I'm writing about, and they wouldn't even let us look into the room we had rented until the time began that we had paid for. They said that the room was down a hall we hadn't paid to enter, so we were not allowed to look in the room. The facility itself is beautiful, light, spacious, and well appointed. But that does not make up for their overly stringent regulations. For example, in the event I planned, we had to add some speakers to our program, so I asked if I could extend our time by half an hour so we could clean up in time. But they would not allow us to add time, even though I had made that request well before the day of the event. It was not a last-minute request, and, as indicated, I was aware there would an extra charge for an extra half-hour. So I thought we'll just clean up faster (which we did). But unfortunately, our caterers, who were P.F. Chang's, were very late in setting up the lunch, in fact, 45 minutes late, so we had to start our program late. But even with all of that, we worked very fast and managed to finish the cleanup by just half an hour after the time had expired for us to be there. They had no other event after us, and so we did not inconvenience them. Further, there is no indication on the papers that I signed before the event that there was a late fee if we exceeded the time we were in the room. All the paperwork says is that there's a $250 damage fee. But there was no damage to the hall. I'm not arguing that there should have been no fee for leaving the venue late, I just feel that when the total price for each hour is $150, and we reserved the hall for five hours, that it is exorbitant to charge $250. I requested a reduced fee, especially because our lateness was due to our caterer being so late, which PF Chang's recognized and compensated us for, but I got a solid No. They said the contract stipulates a late fee, but as indicated above, that is not true, it stipulates a damage fee. The director of events at Hidden Creek is lovely to work with. She has always done everything possible to make our experience a good one. And I do not hold her responsible for the stringency of the regulations. I am merely saying that the whole issue of charging so much money for being there 30 minutes extra to clean up, especially when the reason our event went late is because our cater was late, is unconscionable. I recommend selecting a different venue for your event unless you want to jump through numerous hoops only to be dissappointed, frustrated and overcharged in the end.

I've recently started checking audio books and books on Kindle through the Libby app. I love it! I love that they do different events. I've taken my grandkids to family friendly events. But I can think of three reason off of the top of their catalog to keep going here: 1. Flamer by Mike Curato 2. Beyond Magenta: Transgender Teens Speak Out by Susan Kulkin 3. Heartstopper, by Alice Oseman You don't have to travel very far from Brookwood Parkway to find people who want these books taken out of kids' hands or incinerated just because they're unwilling to have conversation with their own children or unable to cope with what those conversations might mean. You don't have to pretend that it's only the burden of far-flung portions of the state to deal with those who'd prefer to ban books than discuss their context or meaning. In the library's backyard, there are folks with a friendly smile on their face and a cup of coffee to sell you who'd have each of these books removed expeditiously for specious reasons while outright slurring the people depicted within the pages. Granted, they call a lot of these same good folks neighbors, clergy, employees, family, and "friends" while taking their labor, payment, and tithes, but I guess letting people reach their own conclusions about their stories is the step they won't take. Well, many thanks to the Hillsboro Public Library for offering these books to anyone willing to read them. A library is often a first step along anyone's journey of self discovery (someone in the comments figured out they wanted to make horror movies, and started that walk here), and offering them the freedom to do so is a foundational portion of a public library's existence. Instead of closing that road, more of the library's neighbors should come along for the trip.
