Its is a wonderful place and the staff there are marvellous, doidng such a difficult job so well. Some patients stay here for months, and they care not only for the sick but look after the whole family. They make all visitors very welcome and keep you informed of the progress. Its not at all gloomy and depressing. The buildings are in the middle of wonderful woodlands and they have lovely fun events such as a tedy bears picninc, summer fair, midnight walk, and a Light up a Life rememberence service every Christmas.

A community centre sitting miles from any real community, the thing that attracted me most was the oddly high ceiling, as if the place had accidentally been built on its side. Apart from that its function room comes with all the necessities- a bar, toilets, a dancefloor to do the Macarena on and precious little else.

There are the usual charity shop items such as second hand clothes and shoes but what really interests me is that they always have a few interesting books and rare cds in the shop. I like to sift through these kinds of things to find a bargain. Surprisingly, maybe for a charity shop but this place also has a changing room. So, if you do decide to get some clothes, you can try them on first with privacy. The shop is quite long but narrow so the shelves are quite close together, making the place feel a bit like a jumble sale at times. The staff are pleasant and always helpful if you need assistance, for example, bagging your goods or even directing to to another shop if they know they have something you are after.

The public are always welcome to donate cash or unwanted items to the shop as long as the condition of the item is acceptable. Every time I walk into charity shops, I'm tempted to buy something I don't really need and that's the attraction Barnardo's brings. For children, this is so much fun as they can actually see it all happening in the store's unique build-a-bear machine! Even I found it fascinating when first glancing at it. Only thing was that there was a huge queue making it a long wait which can be frustrating for kids. The prices are neither cheap nor overly expensive. You won't find any shop like this as its one-of-a- kind. It's got a practical element to the build process which will grab a child's interest. A young person owning their personal bear would be the envy to their friends! Entering this shop made me feel young and put a smile on my face, not surprisingly to every customer!
