The church was the former Great George Street Congregational Chapel built in 1841. It's a grand old building and as one of the finest in the city was also nick named Liverpool's third cathedral. Launched in 1968 by artists and run mainly by women as an arts and community centre, it is open to all and its proximity to Caribbean and Chinese communities adds diversity. There are a load of workshops and exhibitions not to mention ..although I must as its my favourite martial art, the Yang style Tai Chi classes on Tuesday evenings. I love the centre's motto of "Education - Enthusiasm - Energy" and I am wanting to get involved myself. You can volunteer as much or as little as you want. They also offer apprenticeships, training schemes and student placements. This is a great resource to have on your doorstep and if you do nothing else, visit the museum showing 40 years of cultural history.

The Lighthouse has a 430 ranked tiered seat auditorium and facilities and has a range of inclusion, educational, and diversionary projects that use arts and gospel music as a tool for engaging, developing and enhancing the skills of community members. Among others, Liverpool Lighthouse runs ESOL courses teaching English and 'Harmonize', the alternative education programme for 14-19 year olds. The Lighthouse has a restaurant, Bliss, which is really good. Behind the restaurant is the idea of community regeneration through business and skill building (volunteers from the community that wish to re-enter the workforce help run the restaurant). The changing faciliteies are not great, just little conference rooms. but the cafe is a nice place to get a coffee before you watch something. you have to park on the street and it's not the best srea but my car has always been alright.

They hold a lot of different groups for people to socialise with other Deaf and non deaf people. They hold a social on a Friday night, where everyone is welcome. It is a members club but non-members are welcome at most events for an extra fee. They also teach British Sign Language at all the different levels and provide a great teaching environment that encourages learning. The building is an old building but efforts have been made to make it accessible to all.

The hall is old stables and a house that has been remodeled to fit a lot of guests.They have a lot of themed event days as well such as music days and coffee mornings.There is also a village museum here which is open to the public (2.00 for an adult ticket and 1.00 for s child's). Overall it is a great place to go and is very child friendly and safe for children to fun around.As i said even school book full classes of children to go there.
