It does the job, and it's the cheapest place to get your stuff in Dublin. They Have the Dunnes shop here which offers all your basic stuff for living (sheets, silverware, etc). They have candy shops, a theatre, grocery, herbal stores, etc. Take any of the 14, 15, or 128 buses and it'll get you here. You can miss it, it'll say: "Swan Centre." read more

I'm happy to have the Swan Centre in my neighbourhood, but it makes me a little sad to see all the empty units. It has a great Dunnes, and some other stores I like- the Hopsack, Dubray Books, Tiger, Life Pharmacy and of course the movie theatre! There is also a cute little flower shop I don't remember the name of but they always have a lovely display. The centre itself is clean and well maintained, but the all white and glass interior can make it seem a little jarring and bright when the sun is strong (not a massive problem in Ireland, I know, but it annoys me to have to wear sunglasses inside, even one or two days a year). The car park is great too, the rates are reasonable and last time I checked they are open until midnight. read more

I'm quite fond of the swan centre but it is basically a Dunnes and a handful of other shops. The Dunnes is a pretty good one and its usually busy. There are a few other good stores here like Dubray Books and Vivenne Jewelers but many of the other ones are stores that chop and change. There's a few other chains here like Xtravision and McDonalds but these have the stores which also have external entrances. if you're looking for cheap books check out bookstation which is always good for a random browse and card and wrapping paper. The clothes shops tend to come and go but there's usually something trendy on offer. Upstairs is a Kylemore cafe with seating situated around the clock which is quite relaxed. Parking is available underground and it's not too expensive. read more

The Swan Centre is a surprisingly good shopping centre. About ten years ago it looked flashy and fancy but now it just looks dated and doesn't give the impression that it's up to much from outside. It's very much a local shopping centre, but there are genuinely good shops there. They have a big Dunnes which has grocery and clothes. There's also a separate Dunnes Home store. It has the Banana Tree, some nice clothes shops, photo shops, florists, opticians and book shops. It covers lots of the bases and isn't half bad. read more

This is an old-school suburban shopping centre in the middle of Rathmines. It's ok if you're local, because it's convenient and you stop really 'seeing' it if you know what I mean, but not worth a journey to go to. It has a Dunnes with clothes and homeware, a DuBray bookshop which is admittedly nice, a good healthfood store, a cobbler, and is attached to a McDonalds (feral knacker children) and a newsagency (rudest staff ever) which also open onto the street. The rest of the shops seem to change a lot and mainly sell tat. The best thing about the Swan centre is the cinema on the top floor, which was a long-awaited and much-appreciated addition to Rathmines. The worst thing about it is the people- all the sad, mad and bad locals wander in and out of here all day. Personally, I find it a very depressing place to be and would avoid it if I could. read more

I went to the Swan Centre today for the first time and during this time the Only Store open is Dunnes Stores. I queued for 40mins and did a quick shop for 20mins and was charged 3.00 Euro for One Hour of Parking. We are in the Middle of a Pandemic, and you choose to Rip the Public Off by charging a Ridiculous Price for One Hour Of Parking...........when only One Store is open within your Centre. Swan Centre is a fine shopping centre, catering to Rathmines residents. Can't see why anyone living outside Rathmines would go out of their way to go here for window-browsing, but when in the area it has pretty much everything for your daily shopping needs. Dunnes grocery and Dunnes Home take up most of the space. Dunnes grocery is quite big with a very appetizing fruit and veggie section, good selection of cooking sauces, juicy grilled chickens and always some special offers. The shop also offers socks, underwear and pyjamas for a good price and a fine off-licence. For the healthy snacks, you have Hopsack, stuffed with organic goodies, gluten-free breads, seeds, vitamins, tea and spices. Holland and Barrett also offer healthy products on a massive scale For the home, there is aforementioned Dunnes Home for all the bed and bathroom items, and Roccoco Room, selling very nice French country-style furniture. When present shopping, Dubray books will have reading material for all ages, Viviennes Jewellers has the rings and necklaces for the girl in your life while Entertoyment has action-figures, games and accessories for the younger ones. Swalk will supply the cards and Swan flowers take care of the scented arrangements. Can't say that the clothing stores here are main attractions, and there are other ornament and bits-and-bobs shops, like Banana Tree and Emmilia's Angels that don't really catch my eye, but if you take your time to browse, you might finds some nice buys. read more

The swan center is an icon in rathmines. Lately it has become more of an eyesore. I don't know what is happened but most of the stores inside are boarded up. The Dunnes is the major attraction, and the inside looks very vacant and dumpy. My favorite haberdashery store recently closed. I hope more business will come to the Swan Center because of it's excellent location. read more

A Rathmines institution the Swan Centre. It's been there for as long as I've been coming to Rathmines. You got womens fashions, books, homewares, groceries, stationary, heath foods, chemist, beauty salons, gifts... actually, the more I think about it the more this place goes up in my estimations :) My favourite latest addition to the Swan Centre is the Cinema. Nice enough shopping center with your standard shops but a few different shops as well. There's a craft shop, a wool shop a health food shop. But then there's dunnes and McDonald's as well. Add to this a nice cinema and it's pretty cool. read more

The Swan Centre is a dowdy old suburban shopping centre, up there with the likes of the Blackrock Centre and Stillorgan Centre in that it is so old and faded that it has assumed an air of retro cool. It still plays piped musak, and many of the shops haven't changed their decor in decades. But there are some very modern elements, like Roccoco Room which sells fancy country-style furniture, or the brand spanking new Holland and Barrett health food shop that has recently opened. There is also a disappointing number of empty outlets... a reminder that we live in challenging times. Opening this month on the top floor is a state of the art, digital and 3D cinema with three screens, which will hopefully bring much more business to the centre. read more

The Swan Centre in Rathmines is great, it has a variety of different shops. There is Dunnes Stores for grocerys and homeware shopping. A bookshop, stationary shop, newsagent and many different shops. There is a Kylemore restaurant on the top floor which has nice food at reasonable prices. My favourite shop though would have to be "The Hopsack" which is a health food store. They have lovely yoghurt covered fruit and nuts, organic food and a large selection of vegatarian foods which is great for people who dont eat meat as the food is delicious and healthy. read more

This centre is a bit out dated, but still has all the essentials. Its main pull would be the large Dunnes Stores, with clothes, a supermarket and furniture. There are many other shops, such as; G-Star - trendy young clothes Swalk - really nice stationary Newsagent Dubray Books Banana Tree - bits and bobs! jewellery, ornaments etc Xtravision - video/dvd rentals There is the 'Kylemore Cafe' upstairs with lovely food. Personally I find that a smoothie from 'Zumo' on the ground floor fills me up! There is also a Mc Donalds. The building is a bit old but if the shops are good, who cares? The fact that it is small means there isn't the atmosphere of a crowded shopping centre. Go and check it out! read more

Great for getting the weekly grocery shopping done on a Saturday afternoon. Plenty of spaces in the car park. Dunnes has a great selection of fresh food and there's never a large queue at the checkout. It also has a great health-food shop,The Hopsack. read more

Could be a little more people friendly like Nutgrove. In Rathfarnham. Nutgrove has free parking and seats for people to sit on, for a rest or to sort out their bags. Also has a better atmosphere than the Swan Centre - which used to have the odd bench to sit on even to use your mobile phone which i found very awkward recently while struggling with bags. read more

This centre is very dated and in need of modernisation. There is a Dunnes stores which is the flagship store of the centre. This Dunnes has a clothing and grocery section but this store feels quite tatty. There is also a book shop and a staionary shop but nothing out of the ordinary for a shopping centre. I'm guessing only locals use this as it's wouldn't be worth travelling to visit it. read more
