Popped in for a Sunday night drink, it was the only decent place open late on a Sunday and we're sooo glad we found it They had spooky decorations up and tons of little knick knacks that bring life and personality to the bar. The lights were dim and dark, just like a dive bar should be! We played Jenga for a couple rounds until I found Anomia in the pile of boardgames. BEST GAME EVER. We had so much fun playing, loser had to buy the shots and beers. Unfortunately, we had to leave early as we got drunchies and the bar only served bites of food. Great night! My first time visiting Swan Dive. It's a fun, warm and friendly atmosphere. The decor (old movie posters) and pinball machines are fantastic. Great tall-boy beer selection. I'll be back. Tonight, I came for the country music, and the DJ, Barry Spritzer did not disappoint. The tunes were ace. This guy knows his country, and it was a beautiful-sounding, all vinyl set. This is a 'dive' done right. Small and cute with pinball, video games, board games, free pool table (which, to me, has been unattainable every time due to a group of people hoarding it, but still), solid tunes, great sound system and late-night snacks. Boo-ya. read more

Simplicity at simplicity's sake...but with a twist. all those weird and funky toys and board games that you thought were hidden in your parents basement can be found here. A dive bar in swan's clothing, this place has free pool (one table in the back), board games to play, weird toys on the bar to amuse yourself with and you can watch some movies on the big screen (the volume is off) while downing your brew. I did see a small menu of food but we didn't order anything so I can't comment on it. There was a mixed crowd of young hip dudes and some old foggies like me. All in all we had a fun time playing pool and amusing ourselves with the toys. There are even trophies here so when you win at pool you can take a picture with one and be like a real WINNER read more

Swan Dive keeps it simple, and if you're after something other than, you won't agree with my five stars. But guess what? We also won't be friends, sooo there! Ha! I've heard good things about Swan Dive, and finally got around to checking it out after a show at Baby G, just across the street as this area (Dundas & Brock) is really out of the way for me. It's a fantastic dive with solid local beer available in cans, a great bartender Kyle (who's up for NOW's best bartender 2017 so give him a vote) it has a similar vibe to Dundas Video, with various nostalgic videos played in the background. Well that's how I feel about this place. But here I am telling the internet about it anyway. Call me a glutton for punishment. Swan Dive is gem of a non-divey dive bar. What I mean is, its got cheap beer and whiskey, great music, welcoming bar tenders, a mixed crowd of cool but unpretentious people, and its clean. Yes even the bathrooms are in great shape. Swan Dive is a magical little place. It's actually not even that little, it's much bigger inside than the mysterious store front would have you believe. They've got coffee, teas, and what is for now an unpredictable menu of daily specials. I had the homemade veg chilli (something I haven't eaten in years because it's usually so uninspired) and it was really good! Well seasoned, hearty and served with corn chips and a generous portion of grated cheddar. The owner, Abra, has been a bartender at a bunch of Toronto classics: Sneaky Dees, the Big Bop way back in the day, and most recently at the Painted Lady (no, I'm not stalking her I've just seen her around for years!) She's a great visual artist and has filled the space with an eclectic mix of vintage furniture and doo-dads. I used to live around the corner and I remember the space as a dump of an old Portuguese sports bar and it's completely transformed. The drinks are well-priced and they've got Duggans on tap and Woodhouse cans. It's a refreshingly unpretentious gem on a strip that is undergoing a lot of change. First time here today. Beer and bourbon specials which is a good start. Has most of the ear marks of a current dive bar. Vintage nicknacks, movie posters, retro furniture, dark, hipster staff etc etc. But it is done well. And in a great location ! Eclectic choice of music on the speakers as well. Reminds me of the old Margaret Bar in The Junction which is a very good thing. read more

Stopped in on a random night of Dundas Street bar hopping to this newly established watering hole. What I believe at one point may have been an old Portuguese dive bar, is now a dark and divey hipster aimed dive bar with vintage bar stools and a few pieces of collective furniture, and a pool table in the back. Various walls decorated with an interesting mix of paint or comic book collage. 3 types of Duggans beers on tap, and a very friendly bartender serving it all up. Crowd was a mixed grouping but mostly late 20's or early 30's, much akin to the type you'd usually find scouring the area late on a weekend. Curious to see what develops from the place, but so far so good. read more

A great place to go if you want to have some casual drinks and beers with friends. The place is pretty small on seating but it never gets overly crowded. They have a pool table as well which is fun and some card / board games. Overall the workers were very nice, drinks are a reasonable price and the food is actually really good. read more
