I just want to report these guys as the scam artists they are. I had a ride booked to LAX and it fell through so I called Swami cab. The driver was rude and and tried to charge me $400!!!! This is for a $250-$300 fare. I used to use them all of the time but so will never use again. I booked Yellow Cab and it was $300. This company is no longer the cool local choice. I just discovered Swami's Cab and I highly recommend them. The drivers are fast, friendly, and know the area well! Plus, they take credit cards and will e-mail you your receipt. If you have a large party, they also have nice Toyota minivans (Siennas) at their disposal. Will use Swami's for all my taxi-ing needs in North County! Swami's is our go to for taxi service in North County. After calling around for quotes, Swami's offered the only one that sounded right. Lance was responsive by email and our driver called that day, was early to get us and charged only $10-12 to get to the train station from our place. The minivan had leather interior and was very clean. Our driver was friendly and drove smoothly. These guys run a solid business and will continue to have ours in the future. read more

If there were "negative stars" available, THAT would be the rating, based upon the MOST unpleasant experience I just had with one of Swami's drivers (# 1970) in the Ralph's parking lot, off Encinitas Blvd. I had just left the USBank, heading for the street, following #1970. He abruptly stopped in the traffic lane, no signal, no nothing. I sat there, wondering why he was so rudely holding up traffic, then lightly hit my horn. He didn't move, or acknowledge, when he was right adjacent to a lane, where he COULD have pulled out of traffic. Then, the guy behind me hit his horn and the driver made a half turn, into the lane and I was able to pass. He gave me the "single-digit" salute, which is his First Amendment right and I returned it. I proceeded to the traffic light, on Village Sq. Dr. and Encinitas Blvd and was sitting there, when #1970 came roaring up behind me, slamming on his brakes close to the right side of my car. He SPIT at me, hitting the passenger's window and started cussing me out. I got the phone number on the side of his van and the van # on the rear bumper -and, fortunately, the light turned, before this got uglier. This company seems to be VERY "loosely" run, as the guy who answered the phone was another driver and one of the things he mentioned was that me telling the 'owner' would not "go anywhere". They do NOT have a "dispatcher" or receptionist to answer the phone, when it rings, which seems a very sloppy way to run things. I AM going to call the Sheriff, when the guy gets back with this driver's name, as spitting on -and "menacing" someone IS "assault" . . I WOULD HOPE this nasty man is the exception, rather than the rule, but, good luck, if you get a driver with a short fuse like this!! read more

I use Swami's EVERYTIME I need a ride. The drivers are always friendly and prompt! The cabs are always clean and smell great (which is more than you can say for all cabs). I am also a restaurant manager and EVERY time I have a customer who needs a ride I call Swami's! They are reliable, fair, and treat me like family. I call a cab pretty often. I think Swami's is the best night time cab (haven't used them much in the day time to have an opinion on day time service like air port runs but I'm sure they would be great for that too) I just know that some times cabs have poor communication or misquote arrival time, that is not the case with this service. I'm not going to get rhapsodic over a taxi company. I like these guys. They provide a solid, reliable service...and they're pretty cool. They've put my number into their phones, so they answer with a "Hi, Karen" when I call for a ride, and they've always been early (but not too early) which keeps me anxious-free when I book them for early-morning rides to the airport. Swami's Cab Service is the BEST taxi service in North San Diego! The owner, Lance is an awesome guy and one of the 8 drivers of the fleet. I came across Swami's Cab Service about 3 months ago, I needed a lift home from Cardiff to S.Oceanside on a Thursday night at around 3am. I had called around 5-7 taxi services including the idiot proof services (444-4444) and not one cab was available for a $50 trip! Luckily, I came across Swami's Cab Service phone number on Google and when I called I was immediately connected with the driver and was in his Cadillac 10min later. Being a local 24 year old, I personally value a trusted ride home at all hours of the night and since that Thursday night I have not wasted another pointless call to those lazy taxi services with drivers who make you think twice about giving them your home address. I now have a trusted 'Caby' named Lance who ALWAYS answers his phone and definately goes out of his way to get you home safe! read more

Like most north county cab companies, pretty worthless. Called for a cab from Cardiff to Encinitas for 8 people. We were told that it would be 10-15 minutes. They didn't even ask for a name or phone number (probably a bad sign from the start). 25 minutes later we hadn't heard anything so I called back. They said they already showed up and tried texting us and didn't get a response, so they left (never got a missed call or text). They admitted that they were overwhelmed and didn't know what was going on (yeah, no kidding) and they would call back if they could provide a cab. Needless to say, they never called back and we ended up walking to some local bars instead. read more

Terrible. Called 3 hours ahead of time to get a short cab ride to dinner on new years. Received a text to confirm but then no one showed 3 hours later and no one would return my texts or calls. We ended up having to drive ourselves and barely made our reservation. As much as I try and stick with local businesses won't use them again. read more

I was hesitant to call for a taxi because of the hit or miss reviews for ALL of the taxi companies on here...but I needed to get somewhere, so I called Swami's. Mark was great! I called at 8:45AM needing to be picked up at 11:30. Mark called me back at 9:00 to confirm my address, and then showed up 10 minutes early! The hours before he showed up I was stressing out thinking about what I was going to do if the taxi never showed up and my mind immediately goes to things like hitchhiking and bodies in ditches on the side of the road, etc., so you can imagine my relief when Mark gets there EARLY! Anyway he got me to my destination in a safe and timely manner, and we had some laughs along the way. Great experience! read more

First Class Service. I called Swamis 3 hours before my flight landed from Vancouver into the SD airport and was assured that a driver would be waiting for us in the baggage claim area. My flight was 15 minutes late and I texted to let the driver know we had just landed (was patient).When we got to the baggage claim we met Lance (who I later found out is the owner of the company). He was so kind and helpful by taking our (heavy) bags off the carousal and carried them to the cab. Super friendly, incredibly reliable and trustworthy. I wouldn't call any other service to transport me and my family in North County but Swamis. Obviously, very impressed. read more

Do NOT trust this company! I don't yelp, the wife usually does, but this experience left a particularly salty taste in my mouth. First off, it was twice the cost for the same ride we took to our destination earlier in an Uber. Secondly, and most importantly, was the sketchy aftermath of the ride. We took a ride from a white bald male from the Del Mar Fairgrounds Sunday evening back to our house in Clairemont. The wives were definitely loud and I'm sure annoying to this driver but I'm sure he has experienced it before. We tipped him $30 on a $50 fare for the trouble. As we exited the cab and he drove off, I realized I left my phone in the backseat of the van. I called dispatch, and the owner Lance picked up. I told him the situation, and he said he would get in touch with the driver. 2 hours later my wife got a call from the driver. 2 HOURS! The driver acted like he didn't remember the ride. Like he could forget 3 women talking very loudly to each other and over each other for 20 minutes. After more descriptions of the fare, as if that was needed, he said he remembered but hadn't seen a phone left behind. I cannot say for sure that the driver took the phone, I'm sure he had other fares in the 2 hours he took to call me back, but what taxi dispatcher/owner takes 2 hours to get ahold of one of his drivers? It is totally my responsibility for leaving that phone in the van but you should be able to get in contact with a driver immediately in this type of business. We will be sticking to Uber and Lyft to say the least. Not even sure how taxi companies are staying afloat, especially with this type of service. read more
