    Beach view from rooftop

What a nice little hotel full of beautiful suites. We loved the location, just steps from all the shops and restaurants. Not to mention steps from the ocean. We stayed in the Penthouse suite. This room was made to party. Full blown wet bar, beautiful shower, plenty of seating, storage and don't get me started on all the LED lights and party lights throughout the room. Honestly, I feel like it was a little dusty and wish there would have been a better wipe down before we got there. Aside from that, it was a great place to stay. The man working the desk was super helpful and friendly. The rooftop area was so nice and very large with seating and firepits all the way around. You could see the ocean and feel the breeze. There was light music playing until 10pm when they close it off. It looks like you could really host a party or event up there. Now the one huge downfall was the parking. We parked right outside of the front door. We paid for several hours and planned for it to expire about the time we went to bed so we could add more time just before we went to sleep and we did. But no matter... We woke up to two citations, one for "no parking from 5am-6am and the other for no front license plate. Our truck didn't even come with a front license plate when we bought it. What a scam, the city makes tons of money off of people just trying to have a nice vacation. The hotel should provide their guests with parking details to save them the hassle of this.

Just checked out and I'm even more impressed with everything this hotel had to offer this time around. We stayed in room 106 which included a kitchenette, fridge, microwave, living space and a balcony! Basically a cute apartment with the ocean less than a minute away. I took advantage of their cooler and took it out for a beach day along with some fruit and snacks. The proximity to everything you want makes this hotel a true gem. The 24-hour fitness is a few blocks away, some amazing eats by the pier and some cute shopping spots are so convenient. We enjoyed the rooftop after a long day and got the fire pit going. Such a pretty view! If you're out here and need to get some work done, take your laptop to the rooftop for the best "office" out here. Tip: Skip the pricey bike rentals and use the provided hotel bikes or grab a ball for some beach volleyball!

Let start with parking they have 3 offsite city lots and will give you a permit valid for overnight parking. Entry to hotel is by electronic codes. The drapery closed electronically our room included a kitchenette a/c. The room has great lighting and also had a ceiling fan. Please note the parking permit is given with instructions on which days you can park in the lots ABC. We used the structure because it was valid for all days of our stay. Cars must be moved every 72 hours and the pass should be facing the back of the space. So it's visible when they check. The room is not large but does work for two people. Bath is standup shower. We always bring a night light to plug in so we do not have to blast our eyes with light in the middle of the night. No real space in sink for toiletries but you can place under the sink.. They supplied soap shampoo conditioner a shower cap and a toothbrush with paste. What we did not find was a box of tissues or body wash. The bedroom had a queen bed and was comfortable a good size dresser and a small closet. They supplied plenty of good quality towels including two beach towels and a volleyball on request. You can rent beach chairs bikes etc. Ice is available from both a machine and in our room a large bag in the freezer. Want to cook microwave pots and pans a two burner stove and a kitchen sink. But at this location you will find no shortage of restaurants, coffee spots, ice cream, bars, and if that's not enough drive or walk 1.7 miles to ManhattanBeach where you will find even more places including two with Michelin Awards (Sugarfish and MB post). Your at the beach near Pier so walk or Bike the Strand, play in the sand or play volleyball (you can wash of that sand at the public washroom/shower at Pier. If you just want to relax take in the view and a fire pit/table on the roof top. Plenty of seating and area to relax. They do rent the rooftop out as well. The bottom line Great staff Great location A/C Near PublicParking Very very Clean Quiet WiFi Tv with many channels If your room is on the second floor you will need to be able to climb stairs (Also to access the Roof ) No elevator! Front door has one step and the threshold to get in. The lobby is one step down. Back door is level with the Lobby There are some side doors but I do not know access We stayed on the second floor. They do have rooms one the first floor. Room size and features differ room to room. I found this was a family business with people who care. Enjoy a few days at the beach

    Sunset view from rooftop

Absolutely incredible stay in the best location of Hermosa Beach! You cannot beat the beach access--just steps away from the sand and ocean and most important - Restaurants! The rooftop was hands down the highlight of our trip. We rented it out for a party and were blown away by the panoramic views, especially at sunset. It was magical! Strongly recommend to rent out their rooftop for your special event. The hotel itself was super convenient, walkable to all the restaurants, shops, and nightlife. If you're coming to Hermosa and want the perfect combination of vibe, views, and location--this is the place. Nothing compares. Can't wait to come back!

Response to manger review from Google: You indicated that my statements about misrepresentation and disrespect are not supported by your records. I have copies of the email chain back and forth and can happily post/send those since it seems to be unclear on your end. Communication from your side was the opposite of timely, factual and professional. Citywide does not equate to blockwide and does not equate to "next door too." When we finally got someone to pick up the phone, they also indicated this had never happened before. One would think, in this situation, that management would make an exception to their existing policy. One would think management would've gone the extra mile to make their guests in house comfortable and at least inform them, versus making guests chase them down. We tried the front door "locking system" several times and it was never locked. Multiple times. Not secure by any means. I invite you to look at your own property. I would've never posted this review had management done the right thing. If I am actually reimbursed the "15%", I will happily inform others that one thing was truthfully conveyed. No need for a private conversation as I have nothing to hide. The pictures attached were precisely taken when we were told the whole city was out of power. Response from the owner 3 hours ago Dear Trish, Thank you for your feedback. We regret that your stay coincided with a regional power outage. While such events are entirely outside of our control, we did our best to communicate promptly and honestly with all guests. In the initial hours, the outage was affecting a significant portion of the city. Our first update reflected the information available to us at that time. Later, the impact appeared to be more localized, which we also communicated when we had more clarity. Regarding your other concerns: we were transparent in offering a full refund should you choose to vacate early, which you declined. Though our policy doesn't require any refund in such circumstances, we extended a 15% goodwill offer due to the disruption. Your statements about misrepresentation and disrespect are not supported by our records. Communication from our side remained timely, factual, and professional throughout your stay. As for the entry door, it is designed to remain secured with a code. If another guest left it ajar, we regret that, but the locking system was functioning as intended. We always aim to provide a positive experience and take all feedback seriously. Should you wish to continue this conversation privately, we are available. Sincerely, Christopher SW Beach Hotel Scenic171005

This place is epic especially when you relate it to Hermosa Beach, a small quaint coastal town. We booked the rooftop deck for a company party and they provided support staff that we didn't expect who were helpful the whole night I treated two company team members to a room as a prize and they were thrilled to be able to get ready for the event at the hotel and have a place to retire to when it was over. The rooms are super, not huge but perfect for our expectations. We catered our event from outside staff and there was plenty of room for the food staff and guests. The fireplaces were a perfect touch to a perfect evening.

We stayed here while visiting friends and we're so pleasantly surprised. This hotel is in the perfect location, right off The Strand. The rooms were so nice, clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed. The rooftop patio has a view of the beach and was so elegantly decorated with fire pits and light up panels on the floor. I highly recommend staying here if you are in Redondo Beach. The price was good also for the amazing location. Thank you to the entirefor making our weekend such a special one!

Stayed here for a event on the rooftop. My family and i had a wonderful time, the staff is super sweet. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are clean. Our room had a full kitchen with pots pans, salt pepper everything we needed. So close to the beach and restaurants. Can't wait to stay here again. Thank you SW beach !!

Although the front desk staff often made me feel more tolerated than celebrated, the stunning views kept me coming back and with no room service available, my interactions with the staff were limited to check-in and check-out, allowing me to enjoy my visits in peace. After my mother passed away in July 2025, I chose this hotel to help me cope during my first birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas without her. The beach has always served as my sanctuary. However, during my last stay in December 2025, I unknowingly left with an unwanted holiday gift: BED BUGS. That's right BED BUGS AT THE BEACH HOUSE, HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA! Throughout 2025, The Beach House was my only travel destination. In January 2026, I began to notice itching, and by February, I was experiencing severe reactions without understanding the cause. One night around 3 a.m., I spotted a bug crawling on my pillow. After killing it, taking a pic and asking Google to identify, I discovered it was a bed bug. Having lived in my home for over 50 years without any bed bug issues, I was shocked. I immediately contacted an exterminator, who confirmed the presence of bed bugs, likely brought in during my December visit. Given that my only travel in the past year was to The Beach House, I knew where they originated. Fortunately, I caught the problem early, but it still cost me $2,000 to eradicate them before they became an infestation. I stayed on the 3rd Floor in an Ocean Front Suite I guess you can say I got more than I bargained for. SHAME ON Beach House Hotel Hermosa Beach for not maintaining a higher standard of care to protect guests from BED BUGS!

In just the few moments I stepped out, I saw 2 speed boats heading into King Harbor. Sweet! Room was neat and clean and followed traditional HIExpress layouts and styles. Comfortable bed, which was quickly tested with a much needed - NAP! We were able to walk to one of our favorite restaurants at Redondo Pier, Tony's! Yes, it was a 1.4mis away walk, but the weather was great and we've walked this area before, so why not? Most everything we needed was walking distance. While in the area, we were visiting South Coast Botanic Garden about 7 miles away, so we drove to that. Hubs needed some eye drops while there and a handy CVS is next door. There's also a 7-11 a couple blocks up, across PCH. Parking is included and convenient to the front and lobby entrances. The heated pool is on the ground floor, near the lobby, and is covered by the floors above. The sound of kids having fun at the pool wafted up to our room, which is how we discovered the pool! LOL We enjoyed the comp breakfast - BEST CINNAMON ROLLS! The second night, dinner was at a great Mexican restaurant across the street, Rosa's Authentic Mexican Restaurant. Mere steps away is a Phuket Thai restaurant, 4.3 stars, but Hubs doesn't eat anything "exotic"(lol). For our daily walks, there was a FANTASTIC green belt just west of the hotel, a block away, which runs all the way to Manhattan Beach, to the north. LOTS of people and dogs walking around all day. Very safe area and feels like a tight community. We enjoyed coffee and hot chocolate on the balcony in the AM and strolling the neighborhood in the PM. We would definitely return to this conveniently, comfortable and friendly HIExpress. Cheers! "CC"

The AC is out and it will not be back until tomorrow. Our room is on the first floor where people can see in, so we can't close the shades and get air from outside (and our side of the hotel is the parking lot side, so it doesn't even get ocean air or view.) I booked this hotel for a friend's Labor Day weekend wedding nearby expecting a "premium boutique hotel." (Google Gemini's words, not mine.) I booked it from the AmEx travel portal because it's on The Hotel Collection where I get a free night if I book 2 nights, free breakfast, and $100 credit. The wedding recommended other less-nice hotels nearby, but actually with the free night, it came out to be roughly the same price for 3 nights. It has been nothing but disappointing (beginning with the broken AC.) The pool and hot tub were small and middling. The room is dated. The restaurant (with free breakfast and a dinner we got with the $100 credit) was mediocre. You call those steak tacos rare? Where is the flavor? Service was also lacking. Very slow at dinnertime and it wasn't even busy. There's a daily facilities fee ($40) that is supposed to include the hotel bikes (free 2 hours on a regular bike, free 1 hour on an e-bike.) The bikes are very basic and were not that clean. This is a blatant money grab. The common areas are nice. The spa water in the lobby is nice. The cafe closes at 10am which is absurd to me. Another review this year (2026) said parking was $20--now it's $43/night. Wifi is very slow and unreliable (I can't even post this scathing review because it's down again.) Service was fine, albeit unremarkable. I would not come back and I would go to any of the other wedding-recommended hotels before the Portofino because they bill themselves as a nice hotel and have been the complete opposite.

There is only one real entrance in and out of the hotel which will require that you pass by the bar every time. The check in at night was very reasonable and the staff was polite and helpful. The lobby area is much nicer than the room was. The room was dated and they put us right next to a service room, to which we enjoyed sounds of the staff banging around in there at all hours. While we stayed, there was not a single time that housekeeping was not on our floor. They "cleaned" the same room on our floor at least 4 times during our stay. We felt incredibly creeped out by their housekeeping staff. I would not leave anything in your room that you would want anyone to have access to. We were awoken by the housekeepers multiple times during our stay. There is zero privacy here. Parking garage was partially under construction and requires a key card to get in and out. The partial oven view rooms are truly a partial view of the ocean...and of the roof! There is no screen door on the slider to the balcony. The tub did not drain and was stained horribly. Cheap toilet paper. No duvet covers and the duvets were yellow. Probably haven't been washed for a while. We were awoken after midnight one night to someone on the room pressure washing and a cop outside. When I called the front they told me that it was probably just building maintenance because someone had set off fireworks up there. This hotel may be child-free but you'll enjoy adults who act like children. This also seems to be the hotel where many commercial pilots and staff were staying as well. The worst room service food and drinks I've had. The cocktails were absolutely horrible and I couldn't drink them. This location is very walkable but that's about all the positives.

Though the hotel is older and parking is narrow, our room was very clean with a pretty view of the town and distant ocean from the balcony. The complimentary breakfast varied daily with items like bacon, sausage, and potatoes alongside standard continental options. Plus, Trader Joe's and Pavilions are both within walking distance. Knocking off one star due to the $15/night parking fee, lack of a pool, and only having one elevator. Despite all, this is one of the better Hamptons we've stayed at, and gets a seal of approval.

I called ahead to ask about the possibility of an early check-in and was met with nothing but attitude from the guest services employee, Anita. I then asked if we could at least leave our luggage until the room was ready, and her response was, "Unless you can fit your luggage in a 3x6 storage area." Completely unnecessary and unprofessional. The hotel itself is average at best, but customer service makes all the difference -- and this location failed badly in that department. As a Hilton Diamond member, I expected a much more welcoming and accommodating experience. C'mon Hilton, you can do better. Very disappointed with this location.

The location is unbeatable--right on the beach --and that's what kept us coming back. Since the recent renovation and the addition of the restaurant, however, the experience has changed significantly. It feels like hotel guests have become an afterthought. While I understand why prices have increased, I also expected the level of service to improve or at least remain consistent. Unfortunately, the opposite has happened. During our stay, our room wasn't cleaned as expected, valet service was unavailable when we needed it on multiple occasions, and several staff members came across as rude and inattentive rather than welcoming. These issues made what was once a relaxing, reliable getaway feel frustrating and disappointing. It's unfortunate because this used to be one of our favorite places to stay. We have many wonderful memories here, but based on our most recent experience, we've decided this will be our last stay. I hope management takes guest feedback seriously and refocuses on the hospitality that made this property so special in the first place.
