When I first went to Yu Family Dentistry a few years ago for a routine cleaning and exam I would…read morehave highly recommended them. Since being back numerous times I cannot say that anymore. The office is very new and clean -- impressive for any doctor's office. The staff was meh. My cleaning was ok; I've had better. Former chairside dental assistant here by the way. The hygienist was meh. The doctor was rushed. In fact everyone was They have so many procedure rooms all filled with patients and not many assistants, hygienists and as far as I know just the one dentist. Look, I'm not looking to tell anyone my life story, but where was my exam? I didn't get one any of the times I went -- charting, checking gums, etc. No dental assistant to take notations. But my insurance sure as heck got billed for the exams The dentist would always say ok, see you in 6 months, get up off his stool, throw his gloves away and leave the room. The first two times it happened I assumed things were done differently now since I was a dental assistant -- we manually charted and didn't have digital xrays. So then I wisened up and starting asking about my exam. He'd poke around my mouth with his gloved fingers but that's about it. Didn't even bother to look at xrays -- they insisted I needed a full series every 6 months (keep in mind I'm in my mid 40s and only have 2 cavities that were so small I didn't even need numbing). No root canals, no crowns. But if my insurance is billed for xrays just because it can be at least look at them man. I also have a problem with so many xrays. But anyway Let's talk about the condescending hygienists who tell me how awful my teeth are. Really?? If you've read this far you'd know that was baloney. Scare tactics maybe? I floss after almost every meal and brush 2-3 times a day. No buildup that I can see Now the front office staff and people who answer phones. So rude. They usually just say hello and I have to ask if I've reached the dental office, and I do notice they cater to a certain crowd. I'm not sure how to say this in a way that doesn't sound disrespectful, but being the only native English speaker in the waiting room I have always definitely noticed such a drastic change in the staff when communicating with people whose first language may not be English. I'm very glad that everyone can have access to the healthcare they need, but it's just a weird change I was actually supposed to have an appointment today for a cleaning and exam today but had to call because my car is still in the shop. When I asked when the next followup appointment was the gentleman said next year and was going to leave it at that. Being that it's the middle of December next year isn't too far off but I had to push for that follow up date "next year". Since my new appointment is about a month away I think I will cancel and seek out a new dentist so I don't have to feel like crap and insulted when I go in for a simple cleaning and "exam" Now I see why they got such poor reviews on Yelp (but kudos online?). Strange

I had to come in for them to tell me my procedure was denied because they put it in for the wrong tooth .Wish I could give negative stars I've had better customer service in take out restaurants.

I'm kicking myself for not reading the reviews before booking an appointment. I booked on the phone…read moreand they were extremely fast and were able to fit me in for a next day appointment. They're also one of the only dentist around me that takes my dental insurance so my options were limited from the start but if I had read the reviews I probably would've chosen to go elsewhere... My appointment was for 11am, I spent very close to 4 hours in the office. The staff was super friendly but a bit unprofessional with regard to caring about a patients time. Dr Yang was very nice and constantly asked me if I was okay during the procedure but she also stopped not once but twice to go work on two other patients. I don't understand why it wouldn't make sense to finish with one patient and then move on to the next. All the back and forth was extremely frustrating. I still have two more procedures scheduled with this office, I hope they will go better than today. Another plus for this office is they are open later than most other dentists.

I really wish Yelp had half stars because I would have likely given Island Daily Dental a 3.5…read morerather than just a straight three. This is not a bad dentist office, let me just say that straight away, If you have an appointment scheduled with them I don't think you need to rush to cancel it, but I do think there are some problematic things that give them a three. Positives -Super easy to make an appointment. I booked my appointment with them on Zocdoc when I was having a bad tooth ache and was able to get seen the same day. They are also very nice over the phone and willing to accommodates. -Knowledgeable staff Both the dentist and the hygienist seemed to know what they were talking about. They also gave me their full attention and took time to listen to my concerns. Negatives -High Pressure Sales Pitches For me personally, when my tooth hurts and I've come to the dentist, I don't want to hear how braces will make my smile look better. In addition, when I say no thanks, I don't want a false compliment about how pretty my eyes look and how much straighter teeth will bring them out. Keep in mind, I had braces when I was in middle school, my teeth are not crooked, they could be a bit straighter I suppose but no one other than a person up in my face would notice. It seemed very unprofessional. -Suggesting Unnecessary treatment When discussing a treatment plan,I really felt like they were less concerned by what I needed and more concerned by how much money they could make off me. When I asked about cost of things they didn't give concrete answers and instead spoke about how "happy I'd be in the long run." That's great and all, but answer my questions.

I trusted Dr. Perry and for the second time, total loss! I previously stated that I would not be able to spend more money, I am not to Dr. Perry. I decided to go with a dentist within my plan. Unfortunately, I do not have to spend a fraction to what Dr. Perry has charged, for just two months without pain in my mouth and 2 years worth of service. Unbelievable! His prices are outrageous for his service and I am still suffering the repercussions at his hands. If you use Dr. Perry, please for your benefit, try a different dentist and watch the responses that you get. If you keep going to him, he can cover his mistakes. He should reimburse me some money! $8,000 down the drain!

It has taken lots of time, for many visits, and money, for work insurance did not cover, but that plan is completed. I no longer have toothaches or spaces where food gets stuck between teeth. The office is professionally run & CLEAN ! No waiting room full of other patients. No long waits-- they make sure you don't miss an appt.! lol. so they never seem to over schedule. The Dr. and staff have been wonderful. They respect my privacy and treat me as the most important person they will see that day.

When one is told they have to get periodontal surgery your first thoughts are not what a great time…read moreyour going to have! When my dentist Dr. Grasskemper of Bellport told me this, I was far from thrilled! He recommended Dr.Bear and I'm happy he did. From the start the office manager Mindy made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Dr.Bears assistant Yvonne did her best to try to assure me that all will be fine and talked to me to help relax me before the procedure. Dr. Bear himself was very reassuring and made sure I was as comfortable as possible during the whole procedure. To be quite honest I was expecting the worse and what I experienced was a caring comfortable experience , ( as comfortable as oral surgery can be) . Dr. Bear made sure throughout the entire procedure that I was okay and explained things along the way making me feel safe in his care. While periodontal surgery is on no ones Christmas list, if you need to have it done I highly recommend Dr. Bear and his staff. While I have more yet to be done in the future , I will now be less anxious knowing it's a caring professional staff who will do their personal best to get me through these procedures.
