I had called around the area for quotes and this was better with everyone else's plus a friend had his car fixed here before so I picked this one. They immediately knew where the problem was when I explained. He explained everything he was going to do and made sure I understood and agreed with. Honest, fast, knowledgeable and easy to deal with. I appreciated that he didn't try to up sell and just said exactly whats needed to be done and nothing more. Its a family owned garage and their service was great, they came and picked up the car in the morning and returned it when I was going home after work. I didn't even need to get to their shop! I would recommend this family owned business as the place to go if you need to have some car fixing or service. Its an overdue review, so sorry for late review but better now then never.

This place is a well established carwash chain that was probably the first ones to introduce automated car washing machines in Hong Kong. their name translates as "The Computer Carwash House" which tells you that they came in from a time when there weren't many of these places. They have done well to preserve their name and for that they have expanded themselves greatly all over Hong Kong. As with all chains though, there are better and worse ones. This one is a good one that I went to recently where, although they had what seemed like all the cars in Hong Kong coming at once, they were extremely helpful and telling you when to come back or how you could wait here. These are little things that count. Their shop front may not be the prettiest but I guess in this part of town and with little choice- you are stuck with them. I'm just glad that they are a good one.

Whilst this may be a common feature overseas, in a land where space is a premium this car wash certainly sets itself apart. Judging from the number of customers on a weekend you will see that they do their job well (note: it is not recommended that you go at the weekend as the queues are long and the quality does tend to suffer). The car wash for a saloon currently costs 138 which is a fair price given how labour intensive the process is- at one pointed I counted over 8 people working on a car. They also go above and beyond the car where they would clean not only the visible parts, but the panel gaps as well as doing some very rudimentary checks on water levels and tire pressure. They offer other cleaning and waxing services which again from past experience is well worth the money they charge (they are a little bit more expensive than their competitors). Maintenance wise they have a full workshop that will do both emergency repairs and routine maintenance. The staff are helpful and certainly better than what I have experienced elsewhere where most people simply try to fleece you to part away with as much cash as possible.

To my friends in the US, you have no idea how much more you have to pay to get a car and other car related expenses here compare to the US. For one thing, my uncle calculated that it is actually cheaper for him to take a taxi to work everyday than owning a car here. Crazy~ Anyways, I finally got one because I won a lottery. Not the kinds that pay you money or prizes, but a lottery for a parking spot at my apartment. Yup, that's right, it was me verses 64 other hopefuls to get a spot and I got it. Of course, they were not happy to hear that I actually didn't own a car so I had a purchase one within a month to start my lease on the spot, which cost $400 USD a month. Crazy~ Anyways, unlike the rich folks in HK, I merely saved enough to buy a low-end Toyota Wish. I called Crown Motors in Yuen Long and spoke with Mr. Tong. He was very informative on what I should do as a first time car buyer in HK. For one thing, I had to throw anything I know from the US away because it's a completely different thing in HK. When I visited him at the dealer, he was fast to reassure my concerns and throws in a few perks if I decide to buy the car with him. He also offered insurance from Toyota and give me another discount. But apparently in HK, you must take your car to the dealer for all of the scheduled maintenance and tune-ups to keep the warranty valid. Mr. Tong explained that a car is a luxury item in HK so therefore, warranties not as automatic as it is in the US. Crazy~ Anyways, I had a good overall experience at Crown Motors and with Mr. Tong. Personally, I would recommend it to my friends if they are looking for a Toyota. Oh yeah, I forgot that they drive on left here. Crazy...

My boyfriend and I went to have a look at the Mini showroom in Qre Plaza, which is the only one is…read morethe Island. They have another one is Tsuen Wan, but this one is our closest. It's not big, as they can only fit in four cars (a Mini Cooper, a Mini Cooper Coupé, a Mini Cooper S and a Countryman). Besides those, they have a few car accessories, a few suitcases and toys. All Mini-themed of course. That's what we looked at initially - they have a few wheel taps in different colors, seat belts, mirror cases, etc. and it's difficult to tell which one we liked the most. I love the Mini Cooper, I think it's a great car: the design is unique for a car, and quality wise it's also amazing (BMW engine...). Even though it's a much better car for the city than the road, it can still serve as a good vehicle for short distances. The colors they have on display are a little boring, but you can also have a look at the samples and some of them were more fun...light blue, bright red, yellow. We browsed around for quite a while and checked out the four of them, their finishing and prices. None of the staff came around to ask, which was okay for us, since we just wanted to check them out and were not intending to buy. For now I will have to be content with a 'mini' Mini suitcase, because the car will have to wait for a little longer!

Keepree Pro is Japanese brand that was brought over to Hong Kong a couple of years ago, their marketing gimmick being that they offer a "no-touch" foam wash where by instead of strips of cloth turning on a roller, they have this huge foan sprayer that would "wash" or coat your car without so much as a fibre touching your car. This keeps it clean and avoid unintentional scratching by the rollers. Does it work? Hell yes. If there was a place to watch a car wash this would be the place. The shop floor isn't huge but in all honesty they keep it exceptionally clean, there is no clutter of any form in the working area and this is quite rare in Hong Kong. Moreover, they do stick to their world when it comes to giving the ultimate care not to scratch your vehicle, the foam system seems to work really well here. Judging from the other cars that were parked there waiting to be waxed (which by the way was also a miracle maker); this place must perform quite well. Aside from the machine itself, the meticulous attention they pay to every sill and corner in the vehicle is also a bonus point. Around 4 people work on your car in cleaning both the interior and drying the car. Brilliant. What are the downsides? Its not cheap- 180 HKD for a complete wash is on the high side but given the part of the town its in (middle of Wanchai) I am willing to pay the premium for the location. Apart form that, queues are often quite long and that means you either keep doing circles around the block to wait for them to take your car (they do run out of space to take your car on). If you are really into detailing your car then you might say you can do it yourself. But if you are in town and looking for a good clean wash of your car then look no further.
