Suwannee River Rendezvous is a great place to relax, unwind and have a good time. My wife and I visited the Suwannee River Rendezvous over a weekend with family. My wife and I arrived Friday afternoon for our tent camping weekend at the Suwannee River Rendezvous. The three-hour drive to Mayo wasn't bad from Tampa. Check-in is at 2pm. We arrived around 5pm. The place can be a tight squeeze around the office, even with a small pick-up truck and it is pretty hilly! My wife and I walked in to the office and a friendly woman behind the desk got us all set up in a matter of minutes. Soon, we were on our way down to our site. The tent locations in the lower rendezvous area are nice but not all that spacious. They are manageable and are limited to one tent each. I think majority of their visitors come in RV. Our primitive spot was up on a hill, overlooking the Suwannee River, which was beautiful. We got our tent set up in the only spot that it would really fit. We had a fire pit and a picnic table. A long trail goes all along the river and luckily, not many people were wandering around. Otherwise, we would have had many travelers passing through our campsite all day. My wife's parents ended up having to change their site because their camping set up is little more elaborate. They would not have fit comfortably and also would have had to climb up a steep hill to get to their site. Once settled, we set about to explore. They have a convenient lodge area complete with a mini convenience store. If you forgot anything, they have it. They offer games and other activities. They have a take a book, leave a book section and a kitchen that cooks food. On our first night, we played bingo. My wife and I won $70 on one game. Our two night stay was only $58 so, in theory, they paid us to be there. We visited family over in the RV park area which was relatively quiet and nice. This is where you can find showers and a catch-and-release pond. The showers are little ways away from the lower rendezvous. They were clean though and private since it's just a single shower inside a locked bathroom. On Saturday, we went kayaking on the river. I rented a kayak for $25 for the day. They offer a service to drive you up river and drop you off but we did that ourselves since we had a trailer. 2.5 hours later, we were back! The river is beautiful and quiet, although, this time of year, no wildlife at all. Saturday, we also participated in the pigeon races. For $5, you get a to pick out a pigeon and if it's the first to fly back, you get a prize. A fun activity. We also played redneck bowling which, if you ask me, was a pretty nifty invention. There is a crank you turn to set up the pins and a mechanism on a pulley to return the bowling ball. Pretty cool and a lot of fun! All in all, this place was a good time. For us, we like to be a little more "off-the-grid" as they say. This was a good balance. The primitive campsite area was secluded and didn't receive cell service or the wifi provided from the lodge. However, a 2-minute walk and we could get internet, a cup of coffee and a bathroom. My wife and I would definitely go back here. The staff we encountered were nice for the most part and at least for mid-February, the camping side wasn't all that busy. read more

Cabin rental was absolutely filthy! Dust bunnies hanging everywhere. Shower beyond dirty - clearly not cleaned in a long time. Coffee pot was dirty and even after cleaning the pot there were black particles coming out of the coffeemaker. Did not even sleep in the sheets and the towels were really old and questionable. Controls for A/C and heat aren't even reachable. The firewood they sell would not burn. It was just a very run down place and the cabin left us totally sceeved! read more

2500 year old philosophical debate solved in the paradox of Florida's Suwannee River Rendezvous. Meaning who the heck cares? But, for those few budding philosophers in the Good Will Hunting Department or those with Big Lebowski Overachiever tendencies looking for meaning behind the veil of humanity, or a deeper understanding to the mysteries of life, well, gather ye "Rosebuds" and rendezvous with me on Florida's Suwannee River, and give them a Citizen Kane send off. Back Story. (Way Back!) Parmenides and Heraclitus were finalists in the Pre-Socratic American Idol, (Greek version) that ended in a draw, and possibly the first time the sentence "agree to disagree," was ever used. Heraclitus sang that a man can never dip his toe into the same river, twice. His Rosebud was a flower that bloomed in a garden of change, where that garden was the only constant, as time changes that toe dipped into the river (and all accessory/accoutrement attached to said toe) especially after stepping on a wet "Lebowski" carpet, while being baptized in the river of the Coen Brothers. Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? I'm mixing movie metaphor again, please forgive me. Parmenides sang the opposite tune: "All reality is one, change is impossible. Permanence is the only constant." He added a snarky Billie Eilish: "Duh!" to the chorus. The future Greeks would call this draw an "Aporia." Something humans cannot know. Like bats in Plato's cave contemplating the astrophysics behind GZK limits. (For 3 people in the world that last line will be incredibly witty and multi-versed in funny.) As you can see Parmenides thought little of humans and their free will. I thought the same "little," until I visited the Suwannee River Rendezvous and felt the paradox of a "permanent transience." Within that paradox a clear winner emerges from the first Greek Idol. A paradox that must first be defined. The paradox is feeling tethered to a sense of home in a world where open-road adventure and exploration is just as important. I've noticed those intrepid adventurers that take the time to RV throughout our great country are usually the same type of adventurous folk that look within and find their peace of mind out side of the ego. And there it was. The Suwannee River Rendezvous was the Mecca of ego free. That kind of an environment changes you. The Transcendalists fishing on Walden Pond believed we are here to enjoy an original relationship with the universe. I can't think of a better environment to enjoy that relationship, than this ego free zone. You'll know when you feel the same paradox. It's the day you have to leave. Your next river and toe will find a changed you. Especially for those philosophers who are lost in the mind of paradox, to find a cognitive space needed for a holy communion with nature, to recognize it as the answer to it all. Including paradox. We learn the language of the Suwannee River and recognize it as the same language of the divine. The Rendezvous allows us to find God behind the stillness, not in the mind, but through the same energies that scattered the stars. The same energies that move this river. Tesla fed pigeons. The Suwannee River Rendezvous has Pigeon Races. For those looking to be baptized in a new faith, one can break bad without wardrobe changes to orange, by sitting in Convict Springs. A fish looking for a tree to climb. Thinking brilliant, like Einstein. You'd have to experience it for yourself for the feel. Use your own words. Don't use mine. But there is a force there, that smacks of the infinite, that my little bat brain is trying to define in the finite. Silly little man covered in guano. Maybe you can do a better job. If so, start a religion. The tax free benefits are quite remarkable in your current economy. The enlightenment is priceless. Mine was worthless. But isn't that another form of priceless. Next time I'll be more specific. It has been rumored that a reporter asked Einstein what it was like to be the smartest man in the world. He said ask Nikola Tesla. Tesla loved our pigeons. They were his Rosebuds. He declared the winner of the first Greek Idol there. No one cared. Those that cared mistook him for the "car guy?" Once things cleared up, no one cared again. This park is pretty nice. They have quite a list of things going on, and have a food shack on site, a pretty well stocked store. However the web page is misleading. Their web page clearly lists WiFi under amenities, right under fire ring and picnic table. When you get checked in, they tell you yes, for Wifi, you need a router, for a $100 deposit and $5 per day. Hmmm. The cable is free in some locations, and that is shown properly. But if there is a charge for Wifi, you should say that on the web page. We declined to pay extra for Wifi. We were excited that the hot tub and pool was right across the road from our camp site (Key West - 318) because that was important to us. But the hot tub was out of order the entire time we were there. We could have walked or driven to the other one, but that defeats being close, and it isn't a short walk away. The showers could use a bit more cleaning, the water takes a long time to heat up, and there is hardly any water pressure in the two showers we tried. Some one was enjoying some devil's lettuce IN one of the showers on Friday night! The whole area reeked of it! The pool was not heated, but I really didn't expect it to be. Our site was pretty nice except it dropped off on the hook up side, we had trouble leveling our rig out. We were between two permanent residents and didn't really have any complaint there. I did see some sites that looked a bit trashy, but they were in the older section. We didn't have any issue with the electric, sewer or cable hookup, but the water pressure was very low at the site. We followed directions in the email sent to us, went directly to our site, set up then came back to check in. I think maybe if I had not already set up we would have left to find another place to stay. We won't be back. read more

Great spot to camp and get away from city noise. Chicken poop bingo, redneck bowling, and pigeon races are all very unique and fun family friendly activities. Very nice pool area with hot tub and very well maintained. Very family friendly! Bring the kids! read more

We stayed for 2 nights River Room 10. It was amazing. This room sleeps six with 2 double beds in loft area and pull out sofa. Room was clean smelled good and had a porch overlooking river. Pool area was well maintained not too cold. The dog area is incredible. They had outdoor games to play like giant jenga. My only suggestions would be extra sheets for pull out sofa. We had our own. Also no phone service and the wifi sucks. I will not take away a star though. We loved this place and will be back. read more

We were going to stay from may-october. Left early. Here are the pros- we loved our site. Plenty of room and quiet in the back of the park. All the employees were friendly. Near a couple of springs. Little river springs was beautiful! Snack bar at the campground was pretty good. Nice views of the swuanee. Monthly rate is reasonable. Here's the cons- the spring on resort property is pretty gross. Personally I would not swim in there. They are adding on another section to park. Supposed to be adult only but they keep lowering the age. Not fully open. All sand. We didn't stay back there. They were supposed to have adult only pool open kept having problems with health inspectors. So we used the other pool which was mobbed with people. Alot of unsupervised children. First weekend kid cracked his head on side of the pool. The dog park is nice if you use the 2 front halfs. The ones that back up to the woods are not safe. No fence. Also cable was down numerous times during our 2 month stay. Had a boil water alert another weekend. Which is a real hassle when you have 3 dogs. Then the rec center also got vandalized. I believe this could be a really nice resort just needs a remodel and some more security. One day we were there and some campers left their dogs in the dog park and were just going to take off! Definitely too much drama for us. Springs also got flooded pretty early this year so we were only able to go one time. We stayed 2 months. Time to move on. Hope they get things ironed out. read more

Rv park itself is clean and nice. Salt water Pool is heated. 5 dog parks which are great. We stayed for 4 nights and the weekend was great. However if your here during the week and not a "retiree" be prepared for the smugness and double standards. You can't do A B or C BUT the full timers living here they can it AB and C. Family friendly, maybe on the weekends, but definitely not during the week. If you plan on going into town be aware it's like the movie water boy. We had a great time as always but this third time we came, they had a Wedding going on during the Sturgeon Festival. Why couldn't the wedding party plan it on another weekend and not during the festival?? I understand getting married and all but they were extremely rude in the Key West side when we were trying to enjoy our last night in the jacuzzi and the wedding party decided to takeover and ruin the night. It was overcrowded and the water was overflowing. They didn't care and didn't seem to show any respect. That's when I had enough and got out with my fiancée and my friend and her husband. They were also swimming in their undergarments which is extremely gross and made me sick. Who does that?!? There was one lady who got mad because they had a kid in the 21+ side who should've read the signs clear around the pool area. There was also two other people that weren't guests there, didn't have any wristbands on and they were drinking a huge bottle of Malibu rum and told us they snuck in through some woods since the entire campground isn't fenced in all the way around. One of them was saying they just turned 21 and was celebrating his birthday. I know security probably had a hard time with the wedding guests I'm sure but it just would've been nice to enjoy our last night relaxing instead of having to leave the jacuzzi because the wedding party wanted to be rude, obnoxious and disorderly and disrespectful to the other guests. read more

Here is the good stuff first: If you need a calm and mellow place to unwind, sitting along the Suwannee river is what the doctor ordered. The water is so calm extending along the canal of trees and nature. In the few hours that we have been trying our luck at fishing at the boat ramp, we've spotted all types of birds, sturgeon and mullet leaping from the water. Even bass. The place is not fancy at all, but so far no bugs or scary stuff in our room. We stayed at the river lofts, which are above the Main Office. There are also nice camping grounds. If rustic is your flavor, you will like it there. Now the medicine: We do not recommend the Grandma cookin shack. We tried the breakfast and our order was short on meat and the sausage pattie was undercooked. The grits were also not very good. Though we were the only 2 in the restaurant at the time, somehow our food was not hot. Oh, I am not trying to offend dog lovers, but everyone does not love dogs like you might. Meaning, there is a rather large dog that roams around the dining room. We walked in and the dog followed us to our table and proceeded to rub up against my husband's leg. Just too much with the dog love. Plus we are both allergic to dog fur the larger the dog the worse the reaction. read more

The people really make this place wonderful. They have a lot of game nights and karaoke and locals even come. On the weekends they have a takeout food place that is excellent, Especially the ice cream sundaes. Lots to do at this place. Highly recommend! read more

Swannee River Rendezvous is a combination of a rustic resort and campground. The log cabins come fully furnished while there are over 200 campsites both located on the river or nearby within easy walking of a modern swimming pool complex Wifi and Satellite tv are available but with such lovely surroundings I have never considered. Fishing and kayak rentals and trips are available also. Peaceful place for those in a place away from casinos, room service, noises. Just relax listening to the birds and swaying trees. This is our 3rd time here and it just gets better. Be forewarned that on holiday weekends it is very popular and is not the spirit-restoring place that I love. read more

A while ago at this resort it used to be a fun, rexlaxing place to hang out. But now they are too strict. "Quite time" at 11. Most stupidest thing I ever heard of. Cant even play music with out security up our ass. We cant even take out our dog to shit without having someone come yell at us to go back to our campsite. You basically have a set bedtime. Yesterday, we went to Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort. We had reserved the Spring House which had a King bed and was located near the spring. On check-in, my husband was informed that the river had flooded over into the Spring. No helping that. Unfortunately, our "cabin" was lots more rustic than pictures and write up had revealed. First off was the smell. It was a mix of mildew, cleaning chemicals with a slight touch of urine. Everything was exceedingly worn except maybe the refrigerator and the microwave. The TV was nice sized....maybe 42"? The king bed was....well the springs could be felt. Not exactly comfortable. Nothing was even....not the floors, not the cabinet doors. The exterior walls, while an attractive pecky cypress, moved outward when touched. The front door had a gap underneath to the point that daylight was readily seen, and something unwanted could definitely "slither" in. The screened porch lacked most of the screening, while the porch furniture pieces were gorgeous wood, there were large wasps floating around the table. We drove through the rest of the resort, and the RV camp sites were nice, open and people seemed to be peacefully enjoying their away times. And the grounds of the "resort" were lovely. But the plethora of dime-sized mosquitos was more than miserable. However, we decided that we would much rather drive the 3 hours home rather than spend an uncomfortable night there. read more

Unique resort in the heart of springs country in north central Florida - you gotta stay here to get the true spirit of the place. A relaxing way to spend the weekend. Lots of different rooms to meet any budget - on our last trip we rented "The Chalet" which is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath house with full kitchen. It was a great landing place for our friends and family while they went between the pool and Convict Springs, which is right on the property. The springs flows out to the Suwannee River, which runs alongside the resort (the River Rooms are particularly great for viewing the river right from your window or balcony). Lots of room for RV's and it seems like they are always building something new on the property to make everyone's stay a little pleasanter. On Saturday nights there is karaoke night at the lodge, and you can also rent canoes and kayaks from the lodge to explore the Suwannee. Definitely a great destination if you want a laid-back, easy-going experience! read more

Just came back home from this campground for the first time. Definitely we'll come back. Very laid-back and family-oriented park with a lot of activities. We'll gonna miss the owner's friendly Lab dog, Charlie. We stayed at A-frame house (the oldest bldg and will sleep 10people) overlooking the Suwannee River. Spacious and the perfect cabin place to stay while you're here. Home away from home and will give a def recollection and peace you needed. read more

Nice sites and plenty of them. Friendly staff. The dog park is awesome. I've never bee to a campground with such a great dog park. You can take your dog swimming in the springs. Not a lot of shade on the sites. Not too much to do in the area. I like to go out and explore the towns and area and there just wasn't a lot to do, no fault of the campground, it's just in the middle of nowhere. read more

I love this place. It's perfect to just get away. Primitive Tent sites are the best right on the Suwannee. You can pull your boat right up. Swimming pool is beautiful. Food from Grandma Suzies was awesome and decent priced. Nothing was over priced. Great for large families. We will be back often! read more

Stayed here for a month in January 2017. Great price. Sites are level and easy to get in and out of. Good laundry at an OK price compared to others we've stayed at. Has a restaurant on site that is open Fri, Sat & Sun. We had a pizza, a wrap and breakfast while we stayed. Their pizza is good, only offered in pepperoni and cheese. The wraps are huge and can easily be shared between two people. The two biggest downers here was that the Wifi at the trailer is almost non-existent. You can take your computer to the office and use it there with pretty decent results. Flys were bad. Not sure why but you couldn't avoid them. Otherwise, if you like quite and off the beaten path with river access, this is a good place. read more

Serene and fun place to stay. Unfortunately, it was just a stop for the night in our motorhome, but we will plan to stay longer next time we are passing through. We stayed on a Friday night, so we were able to eat at the diner and had fun playing bingo at the lodge. Everyone was very friendly. Locals come for the bingo and the many activities at the lodge. The amenities are spectacular! The laundry is open 24 hrs and they even have a dog washing station with hot & cold water & a hair dryer. So convenient. The park is very family and pet friendly. Just a beautiful place to stay with lots to do. read more
